¹³ Now the men of Sodom ^(A)were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.

¹⁰ and especially ^(A)those who indulge^[a] in the lust of defiling passion and ^(B)despise authority.

Bold and willful, they do not tremble ^(C)as they blaspheme the glorious ones,

²⁰ Then the Lord said, “Because ^(A)the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave,

⁷ just as ^(A)Sodom and Gomorrah and ^(B)the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and ^(C)pursued unnatural desire,^[a] serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

⁶ if by ^(A)turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction, ^(B)making them an example of ^(C)what is going to happen to the ungodly;^{[a] 7} and ^(D)if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked ⁸ (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, ^(E)he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard);

¹³ And ^(A)no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are ^(B)naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

²⁷ and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, ^(A)men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

¹³ Go and learn ^(A)what this means: ^(B)‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For ^(C)I came not to call the righteous, ^(D)but sinners.”

⁴⁶ And ^(A)your elder sister is Samaria, who lived with her daughters to the north of you; and ^(B)your younger sister, who lived to the south of you, is Sodom with her daughters. ^47 (C)Not only did you walk in their ways and do according to their abominations; within a very little time ^(D)you were more corrupt than they in all your ways. ^48 (E)As I live, declares the Lord God, your sister ^(F)Sodom and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done. ⁴⁹ Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, ^(G)excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. ⁵⁰ They were haughty and ^(H)did an abomination before me. So ^(I)I removed them, when I saw it.
