¹² Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the cities of the plain and moved his tent as far as Sodom.^(A)

²⁹ So it was that, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot had settled.^(A)

The Depravity of Sodom

19 The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground.^(A)

¹² they also took Lot, the son of Abram’s brother, who lived in Sodom, and his goods and departed.^(A)

⁷ and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man greatly distressed by the debauchery of the lawless^{(A) 8} (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by their lawless deeds that he saw and heard),

³³ Do not be deceived:

²⁵ and he overthrew those cities and all the plain and all the inhabitants of the cities and what grew on the ground.^(A)
