² And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land ^(A)of Shinar, and they dwelt there.

^10 (A)And the beginning of his kingdom was ^(B)Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

² And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with ^(A)some of the articles of ^[a]the house of God, which he carried ^(B)into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; ^(C)and he brought the articles into the treasure house of his god.

Lot’s Captivity and Rescue

14 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king ^(A)of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of ^(B)Elam, and Tidal king of ^[a]nations,

¹¹ And he said to me, “To ^(A)build a house for it in ^(B)the land of ^[a]Shinar; when it is ready, the basket will be set there on its base.”

¹¹ Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other.

⁹ Therefore its name is called ^[a]Babel, ^(A)because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.
