² And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in ^(A)the land of Shinar and settled there.

¹⁰ The beginning of his kingdom was ^(A)Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in ^(B)the land of Shinar.

² And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of ^(A)the vessels of the house of God. And he brought them to ^(B)the land of Shinar, to the house of his god, ^(C)and placed the vessels in the treasury of his god.

Abram Rescues Lot

14 In the days of Amraphel king of ^(A)Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of ^(B)Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim,

¹¹ He said to me, “To the ^(A)land of Shinar, to build a house for it. And when this is prepared, they will set the basket down there on its base.”

^11 (A)In that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, ^(B)from Assyria, ^(C)from Egypt, from ^(D)Pathros, from ^(E)Cush,^[a] from ^(F)Elam, from ^(G)Shinar, from ^(H)Hamath, and from ^(I)the coastlands of the sea.

¹¹ So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other.

⁹ Therefore its name was called ^(A)Babel, because there the Lord confused^[a] the language of all the earth. And from there the Lord dispersed them over the face of all the earth.
