³² These are the families of Noah’s sons, according to their genealogies, in their nations, and from these the nations spread abroad on the earth after the flood.^(A)

¹⁹ These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was peopled.^(A)

²⁶ From one ancestor^[a] he made all peoples to inhabit the whole earth, and he allotted the times of their existence and the boundaries of the places where they would live,^(A)

Nations Descended from Noah

10 These are the descendants of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth; children were born to them after the flood.

²⁵ To Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg,^[a] for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan.^(A)

²⁰ These are the descendants of Ham, by their families, their languages, their lands, and their nations.

⁷ “And you, be fruitful and multiply, abound on the earth and have dominion over^[a] it.”^(A)

The Covenant with Noah

9 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.^(A)

²⁹ he named him Noah, saying, “Out of the ground that the Lord has cursed this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the toil of our hands.”^{(A) 30} Lamech lived after the birth of Noah five hundred ninety-five years and had other sons and daughters. ³¹ Thus all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy-seven years, and he died.
