8 Mais Dieu n’avait pas oublié Noé et toutes les bêtes sauvages et les bestiaux qui étaient avec lui dans le bateau. Il fit souffler un vent sur la terre ; alors les eaux se mirent à baisser. 2 Les sources des eaux souterraines et les écluses du ciel se refermèrent. La pluie cessa de tomber. 3 Peu à peu, les eaux se retirèrent de dessus la terre. Au bout des cent cinquante jours, elles commencèrent à baisser.
4 Le dix-septième jour du septième mois, le bateau s’échoua dans le massif montagneux d’Ararat. 5 Les eaux continuèrent à baisser jusqu’au dixième mois ; le premier jour de ce mois, les sommets des montagnes apparurent. 6 Quarante jours après, Noé ouvrit la fenêtre qu’il avait ménagée dans le bateau 7 et lâcha un corbeau ; celui-ci s’envola, il revint et repartit à plusieurs reprises jusqu’à ce que les eaux se soient résorbées sur la terre. 8 Puis Noé lâcha une colombe pour voir si les eaux avaient baissé sur la terre ; 9 mais n’ayant pas trouvé où se poser, celle-ci revint vers lui dans le bateau, car toute la terre était encore inondée. Noé tendit la main, prit la colombe et la ramena auprès de lui dans le bateau. 10 Il attendit encore sept autres jours et lâcha de nouveau la colombe hors du bateau ; 11 elle revint vers lui sur le soir, tenant dans son bec une feuille d’olivier toute fraîche ; Noé sut ainsi que les eaux s’étaient résorbées sur la terre. 12 Il attendit encore sept autres jours et relâcha la colombe ; cette fois, elle ne revint plus vers lui.
13 L’an 601 de la vie de Noé, le premier jour du premier mois, les eaux s’étaient retirées sur la terre, Noé enleva la couverture du bateau ; il regarda dehors et constata que la surface du sol avait séché. 14 Le vingt-septième jour du deuxième mois, la terre était sèche. 15 Alors Dieu dit à Noé : 16 Sors du bateau avec ta femme, tes fils et tes belles-filles. 17 Fais sortir aussi tous les animaux de toutes sortes qui sont avec toi : les oiseaux, les bestiaux et toutes les bêtes qui se meuvent à ras de terre : qu’ils prolifèrent sur la terre, et qu’ils s’y reproduisent et s’y multiplient.
18 Noé sortit avec ses fils, sa femme et ses belles-filles. 19 Tous les animaux, les bêtes qui se meuvent à ras de terre et les oiseaux, tous les êtres qui remuent sur la terre sortirent du bateau par familles.
20 Noé érigea un autel pour l’Eternel, il prit de tous les animaux purs et de tous les oiseaux purs, et les offrit en holocauste[a] sur l’autel. 21 L’Eternel sentit le parfum apaisant du sacrifice[b] et se dit en lui-même : Jamais plus je ne maudirai la terre à cause de l’homme, puisque le cœur de l’homme est porté au mal dès son enfance, et je ne détruirai plus tous les êtres vivants comme je viens de le faire.
22 Aussi longtemps ╵que durera la terre,
semailles et moissons,
froid et chaleur,
été, hiver,
et jour et nuit
jamais ne cesseront.

La sortie de l'arche
8 Dieu se souvint de Noé, de tous les animaux et de tout le bétail qui étaient avec lui dans l'arche. Il fit passer un vent sur la terre et l’eau se calma. 2 Les sources de l'abîme et les écluses du ciel furent fermées et la pluie ne tomba plus du ciel. 3 L’eau se retira peu à peu de dessus la terre, si bien qu’elle baissa au bout de 150 jours. 4 Le dix-septième jour du septième mois, l'arche s'arrêta sur les montagnes d'Ararat[a]. 5 L’eau baissa progressivement jusqu'au dixième mois. Le premier jour du dixième mois, les sommets des montagnes apparurent.
6 Au bout de 40 jours, Noé ouvrit la fenêtre qu'il avait faite à l'arche. 7 Il lâcha le corbeau et celui-ci sortit, faisant des allers et retours jusqu'à ce que l’eau ait séché sur la terre. 8 Il lâcha aussi la colombe pour voir si l’eau avait baissé sur la terre, 9 mais celle-ci ne trouva aucun endroit où se poser. Elle revint vers lui dans l'arche, car il y avait de l’eau sur toute la surface de la terre. Il avança la main, la prit et la fit rentrer vers lui dans l'arche. 10 Il attendit encore 7 autres jours, puis il lâcha de nouveau la colombe hors de l'arche. 11 La colombe revint vers lui sur le soir, et voici qu'une feuille d'olivier arrachée était dans son bec. Noé sut ainsi que l’eau avait baissé sur la terre. 12 Il attendit encore 7 autres jours, puis il lâcha la colombe, mais elle ne revint plus vers lui.
13 L'an 601, le premier jour du premier mois, l’eau avait séché sur la terre. Noé retira le toit de l'arche. Il regarda et constata que la surface du sol avait séché. 14 Le vingt-septième jour du deuxième mois, la terre fut sèche.
15 Alors Dieu parla à Noé: 16 «Sors de l'arche avec ta femme, tes fils et les femmes de tes fils. 17 Fais sortir avec toi tous les animaux de toute espèce qui sont avec toi, tant les oiseaux que le bétail et tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre. Qu'ils pullulent sur la terre, qu'ils se reproduisent et deviennent nombreux sur la terre.» 18 Noé sortit avec ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils. 19 Tous les animaux, tous les reptiles, tous les oiseaux et tout ce qui se déplace sur la terre sortirent de l'arche en fonction de leur espèce.
20 Noé construisit un autel en l’honneur de l'Eternel. Il prit de toutes les bêtes pures et de tous les oiseaux purs et offrit des holocaustes sur l'autel. 21 L'Eternel perçut une odeur agréable et se dit en lui-même: «Je ne maudirai plus la terre à cause de l'homme, car l’orientation du cœur de l'homme est mauvaise dès sa jeunesse, et je ne frapperai plus tous les êtres vivants comme je l'ai fait. 22 Tant que la terre subsistera, les semailles et la moisson, le froid et la chaleur, l'été et l'hiver, le jour et la nuit ne cesseront pas.»

8 1-2 Men Gud glemte ikke Noa og dyrene i arken. Han standsede vandstrømmen fra jordens indre og lukkede himlens sluser, så styrtregnen holdt op. Samtidig sendte han en vind, så vandet begyndte at synke. 3 Vandet sank lidt efter lidt, og efter at arken i 150 dage havde været prisgivet vandmasserne, 4 gik den på grund i Ararats bjerge. Det skete den 17. dag i den syvende måned. 5 Vandet fortsatte langsomt med at synke. Først i den tiende måned kom bjergtinderne til syne.
6 Noa ventede i endnu 40 dage. Derefter åbnede han en luge 7 og sendte en ravn af sted. Ravnen kom ikke tilbage, men fløj omkring, indtil vandet var borte fra jorden. 8 Derefter sendte Noa en due af sted for at se, om den kunne finde tørt land, 9 men duen fandt ingen steder at lande. Vandet stod endnu for højt, så den vendte tilbage til arken. Noa rakte hånden ud og tog duen ind igen.
10 Syv dage senere sendte Noa duen af sted for anden gang, 11 og denne gang vendte den tilbage ved aftenstid med et frisk olivenblad i næbbet. Så var Noa klar over, at jorden var ved at blive tør. 12 En uge senere sendte han duen af sted igen, og denne gang vendte den ikke tilbage.
13 På den første dag i den første måned i det år, Noa fyldte 601 år, fjernede han noget af arkens tag og så, at det meste af vandet var væk. 14 Men først to måneder senere var jorden tilstrækkelig tør, så de kunne gå ud.
15 Så sagde Gud til Noa: 16 „Gå ud af arken med din kone, dine sønner og deres koner 17 og tag alle fuglene og dyrene med dig, så de kan formere sig og sprede sig over jorden.” 18 Noa forlod da arken sammen med sin kone, sine sønner og deres koner. 19 Og alle dyrene forlod arken parvis.
20 Derpå byggede Noa et alter og ofrede nogle af de rene[a] dyr og fugle til Herren. 21 Brændofferet behagede Herren, og han sagde til sig selv: „Jeg vil aldrig mere forbande jorden på grund af menneskene, selvom deres tanker er onde fra ungdommen af. Jeg vil aldrig mere udslette alt liv på jorden. 22 Så længe jorden står, skal forår og efterår, kulde og varme, sommer og vinter, dag og nat ikke ophøre.”

The Flood Subsides
8 But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and all the domestic animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided;(A) 2 the fountains of the deep and the windows of the heavens were closed, the rain from the heavens was restrained,(B) 3 and the waters gradually receded from the earth. At the end of one hundred fifty days the waters had abated,(C) 4 and in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.(D) 5 The waters continued to abate until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains appeared.
6 At the end of forty days Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made(E) 7 and sent out the raven, and it went to and fro until the waters were dried up from the earth.(F) 8 Then he sent out the dove from him to see if the waters had subsided from the face of the ground, 9 but the dove found no place to set its foot, and it returned to him to the ark, for the waters were still on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took it and brought it into the ark with him. 10 He waited another seven days, and again he sent out the dove from the ark, 11 and the dove came back to him in the evening, and there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf; so Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth.(G) 12 Then he waited another seven days and sent out the dove, and it did not return to him any more.
13 In the six hundred first year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from the earth, and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked and saw that the face of the ground was drying.(H) 14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry. 15 Then God said to Noah, 16 “Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.(I) 17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh—birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth—so that they may abound on the earth and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”(J) 18 So Noah went out with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives. 19 And every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out of the ark by families.
God’s Promise to Noah
20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.(K) 21 And when the Lord smelled the pleasing odor, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of humans, for the inclination of the human heart is evil from youth; nor will I ever again destroy every living creature as I have done.(L)
22 As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest, cold and heat,
summer and winter, day and night
shall not cease.”(M)
