Le déluge
7 L'Eternel dit à Noé: «Entre dans l'arche avec toute ta famille, car je t'ai vu comme juste devant moi dans cette génération. 2 Tu prendras avec toi 7 couples de tous les animaux purs, le mâle et sa femelle, une paire des animaux impurs, le mâle et sa femelle, 3 ainsi que 7 couples des oiseaux, mâle et femelle, afin de conserver leur espèce en vie sur toute la surface de la terre. 4 En effet, encore 7 jours et je ferai tomber la pluie sur la terre pendant 40 jours et 40 nuits. J'exterminerai ainsi de la surface du sol tous les êtres que j'ai créés.»
5 Noé se conforma à tous les ordres que Dieu lui avait donnés.
6 Noé avait 600 ans lorsque le déluge frappa la terre. 7 Noé entra dans l'arche avec ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils pour échapper à l’eau du déluge. 8 Parmi les animaux purs et les animaux impurs, les oiseaux et tout ce qui se déplace sur le sol, 9 un mâle et une femelle entrèrent dans l'arche avec Noé, deux par deux, comme Dieu l'avait ordonné à Noé.
10 L’eau du déluge frappa la terre 7 jours après. 11 L'an 600 de la vie de Noé, le dix-septième jour du deuxième mois, toutes les sources du grand abîme jaillirent et les écluses du ciel s'ouvrirent. 12 La pluie tomba sur la terre pendant 40 jours et 40 nuits. 13 C’est ce jour-là précisément que Noé, Sem, Cham et Japhet, les fils de Noé, la femme de Noé et les trois femmes de ses fils avec eux étaient entrés dans l’arche, 14 ainsi que tous les animaux selon leur espèce, tout le bétail selon son espèce, tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre selon leur espèce, tous les oiseaux selon leur espèce, tous les petits oiseaux, tout ce qui a des ailes. 15 Ils entrèrent dans l'arche avec Noé, deux par deux, issus de toutes les créatures qui ont souffle de vie. 16 Il en entra, mâle et femelle, de toute espèce, comme Dieu l'avait ordonné à Noé. Puis l'Eternel ferma la porte sur lui.
17 Le déluge frappa la terre pendant 40 jours. L’eau grossit et souleva l'arche, et celle-ci s'éleva au-dessus de la terre. 18 L’eau monta et grossit beaucoup sur la terre, et l'arche flotta à la surface de l'eau. 19 L’eau augmenta de plus en plus et toutes les hautes montagnes qui sont sous le ciel tout entier furent recouvertes. 20 L’eau monta de 7 mètres et demi au-dessus des montagnes, si bien qu’elles furent recouvertes.
21 Tout ce qui vivait sur la terre expira, tant les oiseaux que le bétail et les animaux, tout ce qui pullulait sur la terre et tous les hommes. 22 Tout ce qui avait un souffle de vie dans ses narines et qui se trouvait sur la terre ferme mourut. 23 Dieu fit disparaître tous les êtres qui étaient à la surface du sol, depuis l'homme jusqu'au bétail, aux reptiles et aux oiseaux: ils furent exterminés de la terre. Il ne resta que Noé et ceux qui étaient avec lui dans l'arche. 24 La crue de l’eau sur la terre dura 150 jours.

7 And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
5 And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him.
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.
15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.
16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in.
17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.
18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.
21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

7 Puis l’Eternel dit à Noé : Entre dans le bateau, toi et toute ta famille car je ne vois que toi qui sois juste parmi tes contemporains. 2 Prends sept couples des animaux purs[a], sept mâles et sept femelles, et un couple de tous les animaux qui ne sont pas purs, le mâle et sa femelle. 3 Prends aussi sept couples de chaque espèce d’oiseaux pour en perpétuer la race sur toute la terre. 4 Car dans sept jours, je vais faire pleuvoir sur la terre durant quarante jours et quarante nuits et j’effacerai de la surface de la terre tous les êtres que j’ai créés.
5 Noé fit tout ce que l’Eternel lui avait ordonné.
6 Noé était âgé de six cents ans quand le déluge vint sur la terre. 7 Il entra dans le bateau avec ses fils, sa femme et ses belles-filles pour échapper aux eaux du déluge[b]. 8 Un couple d’animaux – un mâle et une femelle de ceux qui sont purs et de ceux qui ne le sont pas – ainsi que des oiseaux et de tout ce qui se meut à ras de terre 9 deux par deux, vinrent trouver Noé pour entrer dans le bateau, comme Dieu l’avait prescrit à Noé. 10 Au bout de sept jours, les eaux du déluge s’abattirent sur la terre.
Le déluge
11 L’an 600 de la vie de Noé, le dix-septième jour du deuxième mois de l’année, quand toutes les sources d’eaux souterraines jaillirent et les écluses du ciel s’ouvrirent, 12 et la pluie tomba sur la terre durant quarante jours et quarante nuits. 13 Ce même jour, Noé entra dans le bateau ainsi que ses fils, Sem, Cham et Japhet, sa femme et ses trois belles-filles. 14 Avec eux était entrée chaque espèce d’animaux sauvages, de bestiaux, de bêtes qui se meuvent à ras de terre, d’oiseaux, de petits oiseaux et tous les volatiles. 15 Un couple de tout être vivant était venu trouver Noé pour entrer dans le bateau. 16 Ils étaient arrivés deux par deux, mâle et femelle, comme Dieu l’avait ordonné. Puis l’Eternel referma la porte derrière Noé, 17 et le déluge s’abattit durant quarante jours sur la terre, les eaux montèrent et soulevèrent le bateau, qui se mit à flotter au-dessus de la terre.
18 Les eaux montèrent, grossirent considérablement sur la terre et le bateau vogua sur les flots. 19 Le niveau de l’eau montait de plus en plus, de sorte que toutes les hautes montagnes sous tous les cieux furent submergées. 20 Les eaux s’élevèrent de sept à huit mètres[c] au-dessus des montagnes qui disparurent sous les flots, 21 et toute créature qui bougeait sur la terre périt : les oiseaux, le bétail et les animaux sauvages, toutes les bestioles qui pullulaient sur la terre, et tous les hommes. 22 Tout ce qui respirait sur la terre ferme mourut. 23 Ainsi l’Eternel effaça de la surface du sol tous les êtres vivants, depuis l’homme jusqu’au bétail, jusqu’aux animaux qui se meuvent à ras de terre et jusqu’aux oiseaux du ciel. Ils furent effacés de la terre et il ne resta que Noé et ceux qui étaient avec lui dans le bateau. 24 La crue des eaux au-dessus de la terre dura cent cinquante jours.

7 The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family,(A) because I have found you righteous(B) in this generation. 2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean(C) animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive(D) throughout the earth. 4 Seven days from now I will send rain(E) on the earth(F) for forty days(G) and forty nights,(H) and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.(I)”
5 And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.(J)
6 Noah was six hundred years old(K) when the floodwaters came on the earth. 7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark(L) to escape the waters of the flood. 8 Pairs of clean and unclean(M) animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, 9 male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.(N) 10 And after the seven days(O) the floodwaters came on the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life,(P) on the seventeenth day of the second month(Q)—on that day all the springs of the great deep(R) burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens(S) were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.(T)
13 On that very day Noah and his sons,(U) Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.(V) 14 They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind,(W) everything with wings. 15 Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark.(X) 16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah.(Y) Then the Lord shut him in.
17 For forty days(Z) the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered.(AA) 20 The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits.[a][b] (AB) 21 Every living thing that moved on land perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind.(AC) 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life(AD) in its nostrils died. 23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth.(AE) Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.(AF)
24 The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.(AG)
