5 Voici le livre de la postérité d'Adam. Lorsque Dieu créa l'homme, il le fit à la ressemblance de Dieu.
2 Il créa l'homme et la femme, il les bénit, et il les appela du nom d'homme, lorsqu'ils furent créés.
3 Adam, âgé de cent trente ans, engendra un fils à sa ressemblance, selon son image, et il lui donna le nom de Seth.
4 Les jours d'Adam, après la naissance de Seth, furent de huit cents ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles.
5 Tous les jours qu'Adam vécut furent de neuf cent trente ans; puis il mourut.
6 Seth, âgé de cent cinq ans, engendra Énosch.
7 Seth vécut, après la naissance d'Énosch, huit cent sept ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles.
8 Tous les jours de Seth furent de neuf cent douze ans; puis il mourut.
9 Énosch, âgé de quatre-vingt-dix ans, engendra Kénan.
10 Énosch vécut, après la naissance de Kénan, huit cent quinze ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles.
11 Tous les jours d'Énosch furent de neuf cent cinq ans; puis il mourut.
12 Kénan, âgé de soixante-dix ans, engendra Mahalaleel.
13 Kénan vécut, après la naissance de Mahalaleel, huit cent quarante ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles.
14 Tous les jours de Kénan furent de neuf cent dix ans; puis il mourut.
15 Mahalaleel, âgé de soixante-cinq ans, engendra Jéred.
16 Mahalaleel vécut, après la naissance de Jéred, huit cent trente ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles.
17 Tous les jours de Mahalaleel furent de huit cent quatre-vingt-quinze ans; puis il mourut.
18 Jéred, âgé de cent soixante-deux ans, engendra Hénoc.
19 Jéred vécut, après la naissance d'Hénoc, huit cents ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles.
20 Tous les jours de Jéred furent de neuf cent soixante-deux ans; puis il mourut.
21 Hénoc, âgé de soixante-cinq ans, engendra Metuschélah.
22 Hénoc, après la naissance de Metuschélah, marcha avec Dieu trois cents ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles.
23 Tous les jours d'Hénoc furent de trois cent soixante-cinq ans.
24 Hénoc marcha avec Dieu; puis il ne fut plus, parce que Dieu le prit.
25 Metuschélah, âgé de cent quatre-vingt-sept ans, engendra Lémec.
26 Metuschélah vécut, après la naissance de Lémec, sept cent quatre-vingt deux ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles.
27 Tous les jours de Metuschélah furent de neuf cent soixante-neuf ans; puis il mourut.
28 Lémec, âgé de cent quatre-vingt-deux ans, engendra un fils.
29 Il lui donna le nom de Noé, en disant: Celui-ci nous consolera de nos fatigues et du travail pénible de nos mains, provenant de cette terre que l'Éternel a maudite.
30 Lémec vécut, après la naissance de Noé, cinq cent quatre-vingt-quinze ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles.
31 Tous les jours de Lémec furent de sept cent soixante-dix sept ans; puis il mourut.
32 Noé, âgé de cinq cents ans, engendra Sem, Cham et Japhet.

5 Voici l’histoire de la famille d’Adam. Quand Dieu créa les êtres humains, il les fit de telle sorte qu’ils lui ressemblent. 2 Il les créa homme et femme, il les bénit et leur donna le nom d’hommes le jour où ils furent créés.
3 Adam était âgé de 130 ans quand il eut un fils qui lui ressemble, qui soit son image. Il lui donna le nom de Seth. 4 Après cela, Adam vécut encore 800 ans et il eut d’autres enfants. 5 La durée totale de sa vie fut de 930 ans, puis il mourut.
6 Quand Seth fut âgé de 105 ans, il eut pour fils[a] Enosh. 7 Après cela, il vécut encore 807 ans et il eut d’autres enfants. 8 Il mourut à l’âge de 912 ans.
9 Quand Enosh fut âgé de 90 ans, il eut pour fils Qénân. 10 Après cela, il vécut encore 815 ans et il eut d’autres enfants. 11 Il mourut à l’âge de 905 ans.
12 Quand Qénân fut âgé de 70 ans, il eut pour fils Mahalaléel. 13 Après cela, il vécut encore 840 ans et il eut d’autres enfants. 14 Il mourut à l’âge de 910 ans.
15 Quand Mahalaléel fut âgé de 65 ans, il eut pour fils Yéred. 16 Après cela, Mahalaléel vécut encore 830 ans et il eut d’autres enfants. 17 Il mourut à l’âge de 895 ans.
18 Quand Yéred fut âgé de 162 ans, il eut pour fils Hénok. 19 Après cela, il vécut encore 800 ans, et il eut d’autres enfants. 20 Il mourut à l’âge de 962 ans.
21 Quand Hénok fut âgé de 65 ans, il eut pour fils Mathusalem. 22 Après cela, Hénok mena sa vie sous le regard de Dieu durant 300 ans et il eut d’autres enfants. 23 La durée totale de sa vie fut de 365 ans.
24 Hénok vécut en communion avec Dieu puis il disparut, car Dieu le prit[b].
25 Quand Mathusalem fut âgé de 187 ans, il eut pour fils Lémek. 26 Après cela, il vécut encore 782 ans et il eut d’autres enfants. 27 Il mourut à l’âge de 969 ans.
28 Quand Lémek fut âgé de 182 ans, il eut un fils. 29 Il l’appela Noé (Consolation[c]) en disant : Celui-ci nous consolera de notre travail et de la tâche pénible que nous impose ce sol que l’Eternel a maudit. 30 Après cela, Lémek vécut encore 595 ans, et il eut d’autres enfants. 31 Il mourut à l’âge de 777 ans.
32 Quand Noé fut âgé de 500 ans, il eut pour fils Sem, Cham et Japhet.

5 This is the book of the generations of Adam. On the day when God created man, He made him (A)in the likeness of God. 2 He created them (B)male and female, and He (C)blessed them and named them “mankind” on the day when they were created.
3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth. 4 Then the days of Adam after he fathered Seth were eight hundred years, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 5 So all the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died.
6 Now Seth lived 105 years, and fathered Enosh. 7 Then Seth lived 807 years after he fathered Enosh, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 8 So all the days of Seth were 912 years, and he died.
9 Now Enosh lived ninety years, and fathered Kenan. 10 Then Enosh lived 815 years after he fathered Kenan, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 11 So all the days of Enosh were 905 years, and he died.
12 Now Kenan lived seventy years, and fathered Mahalalel. 13 Then Kenan lived 840 years after he fathered Mahalalel, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 14 So all the days of Kenan were 910 years, and he died.
15 Now Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and fathered Jared. 16 Then Mahalalel lived 830 years after he fathered Jared, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 17 So all the days of Mahalalel were 895 years, and he died.
18 Now Jared lived 162 years, and fathered Enoch. 19 Then Jared lived eight hundred years after he fathered Enoch, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 20 So all the days of Jared were 962 years, and he died.
21 Now Enoch lived sixty-five years, and fathered Methuselah. 22 Then Enoch (D)walked with God three hundred years after he fathered Methuselah, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were 365 years. 24 (E)Enoch walked with God; and he was [a]not, for God (F)took him.
25 Now Methuselah lived 187 years, and fathered Lamech. 26 Then Methuselah lived 782 years after he fathered Lamech, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 27 So all the days of Methuselah were 969 years, and he died.
28 Now Lamech lived 182 years, and fathered a son. 29 And he named him Noah, saying, “This one will give us comfort from our work and from the hard labor of our hands caused by (G)the ground which the Lord has cursed.” 30 Then Lamech lived 595 years after he fathered Noah, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 31 So all the days of Lamech were 777 years, and he died.
32 Now after Noah was (H)five hundred years old, Noah fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

15 When Mahalalel had lived 65 years, he became the father of Jared.(L) 16 After he became the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters. 17 Altogether, Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died.
18 When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch.(M) 19 After he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 20 Altogether, Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.
21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah.(N) 22 After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked faithfully with God(O) 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Altogether, Enoch lived a total of 365 years. 24 Enoch walked faithfully with God;(P) then he was no more, because God took him away.(Q)
25 When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech.(R) 26 After he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. 27 Altogether, Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died.
28 When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. 29 He named him Noah[c](S) and said, “He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the Lord has cursed.(T)” 30 After Noah was born, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters. 31 Altogether, Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.
32 After Noah was 500 years old,(U) he became the father of Shem,(V) Ham and Japheth.(W)
