Sacrifice d’Isaac
22 Après ces choses, Dieu mit Abraham à l’épreuve, et lui dit: Abraham! Et il répondit: Me voici! 2 Dieu dit: Prends ton fils, ton unique, celui que tu aimes, Isaac; va-t’en au pays de Morija, et là offre-le en holocauste sur l’une des montagnes que je te dirai.
3 Abraham se leva de bon matin, sella son âne, et prit avec lui deux serviteurs et son fils Isaac. Il fendit du bois pour l’holocauste, et partit pour aller au lieu que Dieu lui avait dit.
4 Le troisième jour, Abraham, levant les yeux, vit le lieu de loin. 5 Et Abraham dit à ses serviteurs: Restez ici avec l’âne; moi et le jeune homme, nous irons jusque-là pour adorer, et nous reviendrons auprès de vous. 6 Abraham prit le bois pour l’holocauste, le chargea sur son fils Isaac, et porta dans sa main le feu et le couteau. Et ils marchèrent tous deux ensemble. 7 Alors Isaac, parlant à Abraham, son père, dit: Mon père! Et il répondit: Me voici, mon fils! Isaac reprit: Voici le feu et le bois; mais où est l’agneau pour l’holocauste? 8 Abraham répondit: Mon fils, Dieu se pourvoira lui-même de l’agneau pour l’holocauste. Et ils marchèrent tous deux ensemble.
9 Lorsqu’ils furent arrivés au lieu que Dieu lui avait dit, Abraham y éleva un autel, et rangea le bois. Il lia son fils Isaac, et le mit sur l’autel, par-dessus le bois. 10 Puis Abraham étendit la main, et prit le couteau, pour égorger son fils. 11 Alors l’ange de l’Eternel l’appela des cieux, et dit: Abraham! Abraham! Et il répondit: Me voici! 12 L’ange dit: N’avance pas ta main sur l’enfant, et ne lui fais rien; car je sais maintenant que tu crains Dieu, et que tu ne m’as pas refusé ton fils, ton unique. 13 Abraham leva les yeux, et vit derrière lui un bélier retenu dans un buisson par les cornes; et Abraham alla prendre le bélier, et l’offrit en holocauste à la place de son fils. 14 Abraham donna à ce lieu le nom de Yahvé-Jiré[a]. C’est pourquoi l’on dit aujourd’hui: A la montagne de l’Eternel il sera pourvu.
15 L’ange de l’Eternel appela une seconde fois Abraham des cieux, 16 et dit: Je le jure par moi-même, parole de l’Eternel! parce que tu as fais cela, et que tu n’as pas refusé ton fils, ton unique, 17 je te bénirai et je multiplierai ta postérité[b], comme les étoiles du ciel et comme le sable qui est sur le bord de la mer; et ta postérité possédera la porte de ses ennemis[c]. 18 Toutes les nations de la terre seront bénies en ta postérité[d], parce que tu as obéi à ma voix.
19 Abraham étant retourné vers ses serviteurs, ils se levèrent et s’en allèrent ensemble à Beer-Schéba; car Abraham demeurait à Beer-Schéba.
20 Après ces choses, on fit à Abraham un rapport, en disant: Voici, Milca a aussi enfanté des fils à Nachor, ton frère: 21 Uts, son premier-né, Buz, son frère, Kemuel, père d’Aram, 22 Késed, Hazo, Pildasch, Jidlaph et Bethuel. 23 Bethuel a engendré Rebecca. Ce sont là les huit fils que Milca a enfantés à Nachor, frère d’Abraham. 24 Sa concubine, nommée Réuma, a aussi enfanté Thébach, Gaham, Tahasch et Maaca.

Dios pone a prueba la fe de Abraham
22 Después de algún tiempo, Dios puso a prueba la fe de Abraham. Lo llamó por su nombre, y él contestó:
—Aquí estoy.
2 Y Dios le dijo:
—Toma a Isaac, tu único hijo, al que tanto amas, y vete a la tierra de Moria. Una vez allá, ofrécelo en holocausto sobre el cerro que yo te señalaré.
3 Al día siguiente, muy temprano, Abraham se levantó y ensilló su asno; cortó leña para el holocausto y se fue al lugar que Dios le había dicho, junto con su hijo Isaac y dos de sus siervos. 4 Al tercer día, Abraham alcanzó a ver el lugar desde lejos. 5 Entonces les dijo a sus siervos:
—Quédense aquí con el asno. El muchacho y yo seguiremos adelante, adoraremos a Dios, y luego regresaremos.
6 Abraham tomó la leña para el holocausto y la puso sobre los hombros de Isaac; luego tomó el cuchillo y el fuego, y se fueron los dos juntos. 7 Poco después Isaac le dijo a Abraham:
—¡Padre!
—¿Qué quieres, hijo? —le contestó Abraham.
—Mira —dijo Isaac—, tenemos la leña y el fuego, pero ¿dónde está el cordero para el holocausto?
8 —Dios se encargará de que haya un cordero para el holocausto, hijito —respondió su padre.
Y siguieron caminando juntos. 9 Cuando llegaron al lugar que Dios le había dicho, Abraham construyó un altar y preparó la leña; luego ató a su hijo Isaac y lo puso en el altar, sobre la leña; 10 pero en el momento de tomar el cuchillo para sacrificar a su hijo, 11 el ángel del Señor lo llamó desde el cielo:
—¡Abraham! ¡Abraham!
—Aquí estoy —contestó él.
12 El ángel le dijo:
—No le hagas ningún daño al muchacho, porque ya sé que tienes temor de Dios, pues no te negaste a darme tu único hijo.
13 Abraham se fijó, y vio un carnero que estaba enredado por los cuernos entre las ramas de un arbusto; entonces fue, tomó el carnero y lo ofreció en holocausto, en lugar de su hijo. 14 Después Abraham le puso este nombre a aquel lugar: «El Señor da lo necesario.» Por eso todavía se dice: «En el cerro, el Señor da lo necesario.»
15 El ángel del Señor llamó a Abraham desde el cielo por segunda vez, 16 y le dijo:
—El Señor ha dicho: “Puesto que has hecho esto y no me has negado a tu único hijo, juro por mí mismo 17 que te bendeciré mucho. Haré que tu descendencia sea tan numerosa como las estrellas del cielo y como la arena que hay a la orilla del mar. Además, ellos siempre vencerán a sus enemigos, 18 y todas las naciones del mundo serán bendecidas por medio de ellos, porque me has obedecido.”
19 Abraham regresó al lugar donde se habían quedado sus siervos. Después todos juntos se fueron a Beerseba, donde Abraham se quedó a vivir.
Los hijos de Nahor
20 Al cabo de algún tiempo, Abraham recibió la noticia de que Milcá también le había dado hijos a su hermano Nahor. 21 El primero que nació fue Us; luego nació su hermano Buz, y luego Quemuel, que fue el padre de Aram. 22 Luego nacieron Quésed, Hazó, Pildás, Idlaf y Betuel. 23 Este Betuel fue el padre de Rebeca. Éstos son los ocho hijos que Milcá le dio a Nahor, el hermano de Abraham.
24 Además, Nahor tuvo hijos con Reumá, su concubina. Ellos fueron Teba, Gáham, Tahas y Maacá.

22 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.
15 And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
19 So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.
20 And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;
21 Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,
22 And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.
23 And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.
24 And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.

22 Now it came to pass after these things that (B)God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!”
And he said, “Here I am.”
2 Then He said, “Take now your son, (C)your only son Isaac, whom you (D)love, and go (E)to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a (F)burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. 4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off. 5 And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the [a]lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will (G)come back to you.”
6 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and (H)laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. 7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!”
And he said, “Here I am, my son.”
Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the [b]lamb for a burnt offering?”
8 And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the (I)lamb for a (J)burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and (K)laid him on the altar, upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
11 But the (L)Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”
So he said, “Here I am.”
12 And He said, (M)“Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for (N)now I know that you fear God, since you have not (O)withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”
13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of the place, [c]The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
15 Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, 16 and said: (P)“By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— 17 blessing I will (Q)bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants (R)as the stars of the heaven (S)and as the sand which is on the seashore; and (T)your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. 18 (U)In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, (V)because you have obeyed My voice.” 19 So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose and went together to (W)Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.
The Family of Nahor
20 Now it came to pass after these things that it was told Abraham, saying, “Indeed (X)Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor: 21 (Y)Huz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father (Z)of Aram, 22 Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.” 23 And (AA)Bethuel begot [d]Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother. 24 His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Thahash, and Maachah.
