Abram Rescues Lot
14 In the days that Amraphel was king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Kedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goyim, 2 they made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboyim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar). 3 All these were joined together in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Dead Sea). 4 For twelve years they had served Kedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5 In the fourteenth year, Kedorlaomer and the kings who were with him came and defeated the Rephaites in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzites in Ham, and the Emites in Shaveh Kiriathaim, 6 and the Horites in their hill country of Seir, as far as El Paran, which is by the wilderness. 7 Then they turned back and came to En Mishpat (that is, Kadesh) and conquered all the country of the Amalekites and also the Amorites who lived in Hazezon Tamar.
8 Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboyim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) came out, and they joined together in battle in the Valley of Siddim 9 against Kedorlaomer, the king of Elam, Tidal king of Goyim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar—four kings against five. 10 Now the Valley of Siddim was full of tar pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some fell in them, and the rest fled to the hill country. 11 Then they took all the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and departed. 12 They also took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who lived in Sodom, and his possessions, and went their way.
13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living near the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshkol and Aner, and these were allies with Abram. 14 When Abram heard that his relative was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants born in his own house, and pursued them as far as Dan. 15 During the night he divided his men to attack them and defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus. 16 He brought back all the possessions, along with his relative Lot and his possessions, and also the women and the people.
Melchizedek Blesses Abram
17 After his return from the defeat of Kedorlaomer and the kings who had joined with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).
18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was the priest of God Most High. 19 And he blessed him and said,
“Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Creator[a] of heaven and earth;
20 and blessed be God Most High,
who has delivered your enemies into your hand.”
Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people and take the goods for yourself.”
22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted up my hand to the Lord, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth, 23 that I will take nothing that is yours, not a thread or a sandal strap; lest you say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’ 24 I will accept only that which my men have eaten and the portion that belongs to the men who went with me, Aner, Eshkol, and Mamre. Let them take their portion.”

13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the (Q)Hebrew, for (R)he dwelt by [c]the terebinth trees of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner; (S)and they were allies with Abram. 14 Now (T)when Abram heard that (U)his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were (V)born in his own house, and went in pursuit (W)as far as Dan. 15 He divided his forces against them by night, and he and his servants (X)attacked them and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is [d]north of Damascus. 16 So he (Y)brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people.
17 And the king of Sodom (Z)went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the (AA)King’s Valley), (AB)after his return from the [e]defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him.
Abram and Melchizedek(AC)
18 Then (AD)Melchizedek king of Salem brought out (AE)bread and wine; he was (AF)the priest of (AG)God Most High. 19 And he blessed him and said:
(AH)“Blessed be Abram of God Most High,
(AI)Possessor of heaven and earth;
20 And (AJ)blessed be God Most High,
Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.”
And he (AK)gave him [f]a tithe of all.
21 Now the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the [g]persons, and take the goods for yourself.”
22 But Abram (AL)said to the king of Sodom, “I (AM)have raised my hand to the Lord, God Most High, (AN)the Possessor of heaven and earth, 23 that (AO)I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich’— 24 except only what the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.”

14 Lúc ấy Am-ra-phên làm vua vùng đất Ba-by-lôn [a], A-ri-ốc là vua Ê-la-sa, Kết-rô-lao-me là vua Ê-lam, còn Ti-đan là vua Gô-im. 2 Tất cả các vua nầy họp nhau lại đánh các vua: Bê-ra của Xô-đôm, Biếc-sa, vua Gô-mô-rơ, Si-náp vua Ách-ma, Sê-mê-be vua Giê-bô-im và vua của Bê-la. Áp-ram giải cứu Lót
14 Khi Áp-ram nghe tin Lót đã bị giặc bắt, ông liền tập họp 318 gia nhân đã được huấn luyện thuần thục, sinh trưởng trong trại mình. Ông hướng dẫn họ rượt đuổi quân thù cho đến thành Đan. 15 Đêm đó ông chia gia nhân ra thành nhiều toán, mở cuộc tấn công bất ngờ quân thù. Họ rượt đuổi chúng chạy tới Hô-ba, phía bắc thành Đa-mách. 16 Áp-ram mang về đầy đủ mọi thứ giặc đã cướp, cùng các đàn bà và nhiều người khác, luôn cả Lót và tài sản ông ta nữa.
17 Sau khi đánh thắng Kết-rô-lao-me và các vua đồng minh, Áp-ram trở về. Trên đường về, vua Xô-đôm ra đón ông tại thung lũng Sa-ve, bây giờ gọi là Thung lũng Vua.
Mên-chi-xê-đéc
18 Mên-chi-xê-đéc mang bánh và rượu ra. Ông là thầy tế lễ của Thượng Đế Tối Cao 19 và chúc phước cho Áp-ram như sau,
“Áp-ram ơi, nguyện ông được Thượng Đế Tối Cao,
Đấng sáng tạo trời đất, ban phúc lành.
20 Chúc tụng Thượng Đế Tối Cao,
Đấng đã giúp ông thắng quân thù.”
Rồi Áp-ram lấy một phần mười chiến lợi phẩm dâng cho Mên-chi-xê-đéc. 21 Vua Xô-đôm bảo Áp-ram, “Ông hãy giữ những thứ nầy cho mình đi. Chỉ giao lại cho tôi những người bị bắt thôi.”
22 Nhưng Áp-ram bảo vua Xô-đôm rằng, “Tôi đã hứa với CHÚA, Thượng Đế Tối Cao, Đấng dựng nên trời đất, 23 rằng những gì thuộc về vua tôi sẽ không giữ, dù một sợi chỉ hay một sợi dây giày đi nữa, để vua khỏi nói rằng, ‘Nhờ ta mà Áp-ram được giàu có.’ 24 Tôi chỉ giữ lại bằng số thực phẩm mà các thanh niên trai tráng đã ăn thôi. Nhưng hãy cấp cho A-ne, Ết-côn và Mam-rê phần của họ trong số chiến lợi phẩm thu được, vì họ cùng tham chiến với tôi.”
