Genèse 13
Louis Segond
14 L'Éternel dit à Abram, après que Lot se fut séparé de lui: Lève les yeux, et, du lieu où tu es, regarde vers le nord et le midi, vers l'orient et l'occident;

Abram and Lot Separate
13 So Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, (A)into the Negeb.
2 (B)Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. 3 And he journeyed on from the Negeb as far as Bethel to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, 4 to (C)the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the Lord. 5 And Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents, 6 so that (D)the land could not support both of them dwelling together; for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together, 7 (E)and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock. At that time (F)the Canaanites and the Perizzites were dwelling in the land.
8 Then Abram said to Lot, (G)“Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, (H)for we are kinsmen.[a] 9 (I)Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.” 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the (J)Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like (K)the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of (L)Zoar. (This was before the Lord (M)destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) 11 So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other. 12 Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom. 13 Now the men of Sodom (N)were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.
14 The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, (O)northward and southward and eastward and westward, 15 for all the land that you see I will give (P)to you and (Q)to your offspring forever. 16 (R)I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted. 17 Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.” 18 So Abram moved his tent and came and (S)settled by the (T)oaks[b] of Mamre, which (U)are at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the Lord.

Revised Geneva Translation
13 Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, toward the south.
2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver and in gold.
3 And he went on his journey from the south toward Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
4 to the place of the altar which he had made there at the beginning. And there, Abram called on the Name of the LORD.
5 And Lot, also, who went with Abram, had sheep and cattle and tents,
6 And the land could not bear them, so that they might dwell together. For their substance was great; and they could not dwell together.
7 Also, there was debate between the herdsmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdsmen of Lot’s cattle. And the Canaanites and the Perizzites dwelled in the land at that time.
8 Then Abram said to Lot, “I urge you, let there be no strife between you and me, nor between my herdsmen and your herdsmen. For we are brothers.
9 “Is not the whole land before you? I encourage you to depart from me. If you will take the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or, if you go to the right hand, then I will take the left.”
10 So, when Lot lifted up his eyes, he saw that all the plain of Jordan was watered, everywhere (for before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, it was as the Garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar).
11 Then Lot chose all the plain of Jordan and took his journey from the east; and they departed from each other.
12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan; and Lot stayed in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom.
13 Now, the men of Sodom were wicked, and great sinners against the LORD.
14 Then the LORD said to Abram (after Lot had departed from him), “Lift up your eyes now, and look from the place where you are—northward and southward and eastward and westward—
15 “for all the land which you see I will give to you and your seed, forever.
16 “And I will make your seed as the dust of the Earth (so that if a man could number the dust of the Earth, so shall your seed be numbered).
17 “Arise! Walk through the land, in the length thereof and breadth thereof. For I will give it to you.”
18 Then Abram removed his tent and came and dwelled in the plain of Mamre (which is in Hebron) and built an altar to the LORD there.

Abram and Lot Separate
13 So Abram went up from Egypt(A) to the Negev,(B) with his wife and everything he had, and Lot(C) went with him. 2 Abram had become very wealthy(D) in livestock(E) and in silver and gold.
3 From the Negev(F) he went from place to place until he came to Bethel,(G) to the place between Bethel and Ai(H) where his tent had been earlier 4 and where he had first built an altar.(I) There Abram called on the name of the Lord.(J)
5 Now Lot,(K) who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents. 6 But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.(L) 7 And quarreling(M) arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites(N) and Perizzites(O) were also living in the land(P) at that time.
8 So Abram said to Lot,(Q) “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me,(R) or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives.(S) 9 Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”(T)
10 Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain(U) of the Jordan toward Zoar(V) was well watered, like the garden of the Lord,(W) like the land of Egypt.(X) (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom(Y) and Gomorrah.)(Z) 11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company: 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan,(AA) while Lot(AB) lived among the cities of the plain(AC) and pitched his tents near Sodom.(AD) 13 Now the people of Sodom(AE) were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord.(AF)
14 The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west.(AG) 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring[a] forever.(AH) 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.(AI) 17 Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land,(AJ) for I am giving it to you.”(AK)
18 So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre(AL) at Hebron,(AM) where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord.(AN)
