⁴ Joseph found favor in his eyes^(A) and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household,^(B) and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.^(C)

¹⁹ Your^[a] servant has found favor in your^[b] eyes,^(A) and you^[c] have shown great kindness^(B) to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains;^(C) this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die.

²⁸ Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock^(A) of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.^(B) Be shepherds of the church of God,^[a](C) which he bought^(D) with his own blood.^[b](E)

²¹ the Lord was with him;^(A) he showed him kindness^(B) and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.^{(C) 22} So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there.^(D)

⁸ But he refused.^(A) “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care.^(B)
