⁴ but will go to my country and my own relatives^(A) and get a wife for my son Isaac.^(B)”

² Go at once to Paddan Aram,^[a](A) to the house of your mother’s father Bethuel.^(B) Take a wife for yourself there, from among the daughters of Laban, your mother’s brother.^(C)

Nahor’s Sons

²⁰ Some time later Abraham was told, “Milkah is also a mother; she has borne sons to your brother Nahor:^{(A) 21} Uz^(B) the firstborn, Buz^(C) his brother, Kemuel (the father of Aram), ²² Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph and Bethuel.^(D)” ²³ Bethuel became the father of Rebekah.^(E) Milkah bore these eight sons to Abraham’s brother Nahor.^(F)

⁷ The Lord appeared to Abram^(A) and said, “To your offspring^[a] I will give this land.^(B)”^(C) So he built an altar there to the Lord,^(D) who had appeared to him.

²⁵ And after he became the father of Terah, Nahor lived 119 years and had other sons and daughters.

²⁶ After Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram,^(A) Nahor^(B) and Haran.^(C)

Abram’s Family

²⁷ This is the account^(D) of Terah’s family line.

Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor^(E) and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.^{(F) 28} While his father Terah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans,^(G) in the land of his birth. ²⁹ Abram and Nahor^(H) both married. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai,^(I) and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milkah;^(J) she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milkah and Iskah. ³⁰ Now Sarai was childless because she was not able to conceive.^(K)

³¹ Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot^(L) son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law^(M) Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans^(N) to go to Canaan.^(O) But when they came to Harran,^(P) they settled there.

³² Terah^(Q) lived 205 years, and he died in Harran.
