Ang Salita ng Diyos
6 Nang magkagayon ay hinintay nilang mamaga na siya o bigla na lamang mabuwal na patay. Ngunit nang matagal na silang naghihintay at nakitang walang nangyaring masama sa kaniya, nagbago sila ng akala. Sinabi nilang siya ay isang diyos.
7 Sa mga kalapit ng dakong iyon ay may mga lupain ang pangulo ng pulong iyon. Ang pangalan niya ay Publio. Tinanggap niya kami at kinupkop ng tatlong araw na may kagandahang-loob. 8 Nangyari na ang ama ni Publio ay nakaratay at maysakit na lagnat at disinterya. Pumasok si Pablo at ipinanalangin siya. Ipinatong niya ang kaniyang mga kamay sa kaniya at siya ay pinagaling.

New International Version
6 The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead; but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.(A)
7 There was an estate nearby that belonged to Publius, the chief official of the island. He welcomed us to his home and showed us generous hospitality for three days. 8 His father was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him and, after prayer,(B) placed his hands on him(C) and healed him.(D)

6 However, they were expecting that he would swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But after they had looked for a long time and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds and (A)said that he was a god.
7 In that region there was an estate of the [a]leading citizen of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and entertained us courteously for three days. 8 And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and (B)prayed, and (C)he laid his hands on him and healed him.
