Keep Your Freedom
5 Christ set us free ·so that we could live in freedom [to a place of freedom; or by means of freedom; 4:31]. So stand strong. Do not ·change and go back into the slavery of the law [L submit/be fastened to a yoke of slavery]. 2 Listen, I Paul tell you that if you ·go back to the law by being [L let yourself be] circumcised, Christ does you no good. 3 Again, I warn every man: If you allow yourselves to be circumcised, you ·must follow [are obligated to obey] all the law. 4 If you try to be ·made right with God [justified] through the law, ·your life with Christ is over [L you are alienated/separated/severed from Christ]—you have ·left [fallen away from] God’s grace. 5 For by the Spirit and through faith we wait eagerly for ·a right relationship with God [L righteousness]—the object of our hope. 6 ·When we are [L For] in Christ Jesus, ·it is not important if we are circumcised or not [L neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything]. The important thing is faith—the kind of faith that works through love.
7 You were running a good race. Who ·stopped [hindered] you from ·following [or obeying; or your conviction about] the ·true way [truth]? 8 This ·change [persuasion; enticement] did not come from the One who ·chose [called] you. 9 Be careful! “Just a little ·yeast [leaven; 1 Cor. 5:6–7] makes the whole batch of dough rise [C a little error will spread through the whole community].” 10 But I ·trust [L have confidence/am persuaded about you] in the Lord that you will ·not believe those different ideas [take no different view]. Whoever is ·confusing [troubling] you with such ideas will ·be punished [pay the penalty; L bear the condemnation], ·no matter who he is [L whoever he may be].
11 My brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching ·that a man must be circumcised [L circumcision; C some were evidently accusing Paul of this], why am I still being ·attacked [persecuted]? If I still taught circumcision, ·my preaching about the cross would not be a problem [the scandal/offense of the cross has been removed/abolished]. 12 I wish the people who are bothering you would ·castrate themselves [make themselves eunuchs; L cut it off]! [C Paul sarcastically says that if circumcision is so helpful, why not go even further?]
13 My brothers and sisters, God called you to ·be free [L freedom], but do not use your freedom as an ·excuse to do what pleases [opportunity/occasion for] your ·sinful self [sinful nature; flesh]. [L But; Rather] Serve each other with love. 14 [L For] The whole law is ·made complete [summed up; fulfilled] in this one command: “Love your neighbor as you love yourself [Lev. 19:18].” 15 [L But] If you go on ·hurting each other and tearing each other apart [L biting and devouring one another], be careful, or you will completely ·destroy [or consume] each other.
The Spirit and Human Nature
16 So I tell you: ·Live [Walk] ·by following [guided by; in the power of; L by] the Spirit. Then you will not do what your ·sinful self [sinful nature; T flesh] ·wants [desires; craves]. 17 Our ·sinful self [sinful nature; T flesh] ·wants [desires] what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit ·wants [desires] what is against our ·sinful self [sinful nature; T flesh]. [L For] The two are ·against [opposed to; or hostile toward] each other, so you cannot do just what you ·please [want]. 18 But if the Spirit is leading you, you are not under the law.
19 The ·wrong things the sinful self does [works of the flesh/sinful nature] are ·clear [evident; obvious]: ·being sexually unfaithful [sexual immorality], ·not being pure [impurity], ·taking part in sexual sins [depravity; promiscuity], 20 ·worshiping gods [idolatry], ·doing witchcraft [sorcery], ·hating [hostility; antagonism], ·making trouble [discord; strife], being jealous, ·being angry [rage], ·being selfish [rivalries], ·making people angry with each other [dissensions], ·causing divisions among people [factions], 21 feeling envy, being drunk, ·having wild and wasteful parties [carousings; orgies], and doing other things like these. I warn you now as I warned you before: Those who do these things will not inherit God’s kingdom. 22 But the ·Spirit produces the fruit of [L fruit of the Spirit is] love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, ·faithfulness [or faith], 23 gentleness, self-control. ·There is no law that says these things are wrong [or No law can oppose such things]. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified ·their own sinful selves [the sinful nature; the flesh]. They have given up ·their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do [L its passions and desires]. 25 ·We [L If/Since we…] ·get our new life from the Spirit [live by the Spirit], so we should ·follow [be guided by; walk in step with] the Spirit. 26 We must not be ·proud [conceited] or ·make trouble with [provoke] each other or be ·jealous [envious] of each other.

Freedom in Christ
5 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.(A) Stand firm,(B) then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.(C)
2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised,(D) Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.(E) 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law(F) have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.(G) 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.(H) 6 For in Christ Jesus(I) neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value.(J) The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.(K)
7 You were running a good race.(L) Who cut in on you(M) to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.(N) 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”(O) 10 I am confident(P) in the Lord that you will take no other view.(Q) The one who is throwing you into confusion,(R) whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty. 11 Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted?(S) In that case the offense(T) of the cross has been abolished. 12 As for those agitators,(U) I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!
Life by the Spirit
13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.(V) But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a];(W) rather, serve one another(X) humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b](Y) 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit,(Z) and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.(AA) 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.(AB) They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want.(AC) 18 But if you are led by the Spirit,(AD) you are not under the law.(AE)
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality,(AF) impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.(AG) I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.(AH)
22 But the fruit(AI) of the Spirit is love,(AJ) joy, peace,(AK) forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.(AL) Against such things there is no law.(AM) 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh(AN) with its passions and desires.(AO) 25 Since we live by the Spirit,(AP) let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited,(AQ) provoking and envying each other.

Permaneçam firmes na liberdade
5 Cristo nos libertou para que pudéssemos viver em liberdade. Permaneçam, pois, firmes e não se afastem, voltando para a escravidão da lei. 2 Escutem! Eu, Paulo, lhes digo que, se vocês retornarem para a lei se deixando circuncidar, Cristo não terá nenhum valor para vocês. 3 Mais uma vez aviso: Se vocês se deixam circuncidar, então terão que obedecer toda a lei, 4 Vocês que estão procurando ser declarados justos através da lei estão desligados de Cristo; vocês se separaram da graça de Deus. 5 Mas nós, pela fé, temos a esperança de sermos declarados justos. Por isso, aguardamos ansiosamente esta esperança com a ajuda do Espírito. 6 Porque quando estamos em Cristo não importa se somos ou não somos circuncidados. O que realmente importa é a fé que age por meio do amor.
7 Vocês estavam indo tão bem! Por que, então, deixaram que alguém os impedisse de continuar a obedecer a verdade? 8 O meio que ele usou para persuadir vocês não vem de Deus, que foi quem os chamou. 9 Um pouco de fermento fermenta toda a massa![a] 10 Mas eu tenho confiança no Senhor de que vocês não acreditarão nessas ideias diferentes. Aquele que os perturba, porém, seja ele quem for, será castigado.
11 Irmãos, se eu ainda ensino que as pessoas têm que ser circuncidadas, então por que eu ainda sou perseguido? Se eu realmente ensinasse isso, então a mensagem a respeito da cruz, que é uma ofensa para muitos, não seria mais problema. 12 Eu gostaria que aqueles que estão perturbando vocês se castrassem[b] de uma vez!
13 Mas vocês, irmãos, foram chamados para viver em liberdade. Contudo, não deixem com que a liberdade de vocês se torne um pretexto para que façam o que agrada à natureza pecadora de vocês. Ao contrário, sirvam uns aos outros com amor. 14 Pois toda a lei se resume num só mandamento: “Ame o seu próximo como você ama a você mesmo”(A). 15 Mas se continuarem se tratando como animais, ferindo e prejudicando uns aos outros, tenham cuidado para não se destruírem!
O Espírito e a natureza humana
16 Por isso eu digo: deixem com que o Espírito guie o comportamento de vocês. Assim não satisfarão os maus desejos da sua natureza pecadora. 17 Pois, o que a nossa natureza pecadora deseja é contra o Espírito, e o que o Espírito deseja é contra a nossa natureza pecadora. Estas duas coisas são opostas entre si. Por isso vocês não podem fazer tudo o que gostariam de fazer. 18 Mas, se é que vocês são guiados pelo Espírito, então não estão debaixo da lei. 19 As obras da natureza pecadora são bem conhecidas. Elas são: imoralidade sexual, impureza, sensualidade, 20 idolatria, bruxarias, ódio, brigas, ciúmes, iras, egoísmo, rixas, divisões, 21 inveja, embriaguez, orgias e coisas iguais a estas. Eu já os avisei a respeito dessas coisas, e os aviso novamente: aquelas pessoas que praticam essas coisas não vão herdar o reino de Deus. 22 Mas o Espírito produz: amor, alegria, paz, paciência, ternura, bondade, fidelidade, 23 humildade e domínio próprio. Contra coisas como estas não há lei. 24 Aqueles que pertencem a Jesus Cristo pregaram a sua natureza pecadora na cruz, juntamente com as suas paixões e desejos. 25 Se é do Espírito que obtemos a nossa nova vida, então devemos seguir o Espírito. 26 Não devemos ser orgulhosos, nem provocar ninguém, e nem ter inveja uns dos outros.

5 基督释放了我们，叫我们得以自由，所以要站立得稳，不要再被奴仆的轭挟制。
在基督里割礼无功效
2 我保罗告诉你们，若受割礼，基督就于你们无益了。 3 我再指着凡受割礼的人确实地说：他是欠着行全律法的债。 4 你们这要靠律法称义的，是与基督隔绝，从恩典中坠落了。 5 我们靠着圣灵，凭着信心，等候所盼望的义。 6 原来在基督耶稣里，受割礼不受割礼全无功效，唯独使人生发仁爱的信心才有功效。 7 你们向来跑得好，有谁拦阻你们，叫你们不顺从真理呢？ 8 这样的劝导不是出于那召你们的。 9 一点面酵能使全团都发起来。 10 我在主里很信你们必不怀别样的心，但搅扰你们的，无论是谁，必担当他的罪名。 11 弟兄们，我若仍旧传割礼，为什么还受逼迫呢？若是这样，那十字架讨厌的地方就没有了。 12 恨不得那搅乱你们的人把自己割绝了！
爱心乃包括全律法的义
13 弟兄们，你们蒙召是要得自由，只是不可将你们的自由当做放纵情欲的机会，总要用爱心互相服侍。 14 因为全律法都包在“爱人如己”这一句话之内了。 15 你们要谨慎，若相咬相吞，只怕要彼此消灭了。
圣灵和情欲为敌
16 我说，你们当顺着圣灵而行，就不放纵肉体的情欲了。 17 因为情欲和圣灵相争，圣灵和情欲相争，这两个是彼此相敌，使你们不能做所愿意做的。 18 但你们若被圣灵引导，就不在律法以下。 19 情欲的事都是显而易见的，就如奸淫、污秽、邪荡、 20 拜偶像、邪术、仇恨、争竞、忌恨、恼怒、结党、纷争、异端、 21 嫉妒、[a]醉酒、荒宴等类。我从前告诉你们，现在又告诉你们：行这样事的人必不能承受神的国。 22 圣灵所结的果子，就是仁爱、喜乐、和平、忍耐、恩慈、良善、信实、 23 温柔、节制；这样的事没有律法禁止。 24 凡属基督耶稣的人，是已经把肉体连肉体的邪情私欲同钉在十字架上了。

2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
