Galatians 3:19-22
Legacy Standard Bible
19 (A)Why the Law then? It was added [a]because of trespasses, having been (B)ordained through angels (C)by the hand of a mediator, until (D)the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. 20 Now (E)a mediator is not [b]for one person only, whereas God is one. 21 Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? (F)May it never be! For (G)if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed be by law. 22 But the Scripture has (H)shut up [c]everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

Revised Standard Version
The Purpose of the Law
19 Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made; and it was ordained by angels through an intermediary. 20 Now an intermediary implies more than one; but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not; for if a law had been given which could make alive, then righteousness would indeed be by the law. 22 But the scripture consigned all things to sin, that what was promised to faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
