21 Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For (A)if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law. 22 But the Scripture (B)imprisoned everything under sin, so that (C)the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given (D)to those who believe.

23 Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, (E)imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. 24 So then, (F)the law was our (G)guardian until Christ came, (H)in order that we might be justified by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, 26 for in Christ Jesus (I)you are all sons of God, through faith. 27 For as many of you as (J)were baptized (K)into Christ have (L)put on Christ. 28 (M)There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave[a] nor free, (N)there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And (O)if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, (P)heirs according to promise.

21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not!(A) For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.(B) 22 But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin,(C) so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

Children of God

23 Before the coming of this faith,[a] we were held in custody(D) under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed.(E) 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came(F) that we might be justified by faith.(G) 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.(H)

26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God(I) through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ(J) have clothed yourselves with Christ.(K) 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free,(L) nor is there male and female,(M) for you are all one in Christ Jesus.(N) 29 If you belong to Christ,(O) then you are Abraham’s seed,(P) and heirs(Q) according to the promise.(R)

  1. Galatians 3:23 Or through the faithfulness of Jesus … 23 Before faith came

21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
