2 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me.(A) 2 I went up in response to a revelation. Then I laid before them (though only in a private meeting with the acknowledged leaders) the gospel that I proclaim among the gentiles, in order to make sure that I was not running, or had not run, in vain.(B)

2 Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem,(A) this time with Barnabas.(B) I took Titus(C) along also. 2 I went in response to a revelation(D) and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles.(E) I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race(F) in vain.

7 On the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel for the circumcised(A) 8 (for he who worked through Peter making him an apostle to the circumcised also worked through me in sending me to the gentiles), 9 and when James and Cephas and John, who were acknowledged pillars, recognized the grace that had been given to me, they gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, agreeing that we should go to the gentiles and they to the circumcised.(B) 10 They asked only one thing, that we remember the poor, which was actually what I was[a] eager to do.(C)
Paul Rebukes Peter at Antioch
11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face because he stood self-condemned,(D) 12 for until certain people came from James, he used to eat with the gentiles. But after they came, he drew back and kept himself separate for fear of the circumcision faction.(E) 13 And the other Jews joined him in this hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that they were not acting consistently with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, “If you, though a Jew, live like a gentile and not like a Jew, how can you compel the gentiles to live like Jews?”[b](F)

7 On the contrary, they recognized that I had been entrusted with the task(A) of preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised,[a](B) just as Peter(C) had been to the circumcised.[b] 8 For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle(D) to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle(E) to the Gentiles. 9 James,(F) Cephas[c](G) and John, those esteemed as pillars,(H) gave me and Barnabas(I) the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me.(J) They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles,(K) and they to the circumcised. 10 All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor,(L) the very thing I had been eager to do all along.
Paul Opposes Cephas
11 When Cephas(M) came to Antioch,(N) I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For before certain men came from James,(O) he used to eat with the Gentiles.(P) But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.(Q) 13 The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas(R) was led astray.
14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel,(S) I said to Cephas(T) in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew.(U) How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?(V)

Father,[a] may your name be revered as holy.

3 Give us each day our daily bread.[c]
4 And forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us.
