13 For you have heard of (A)my former way of life in Judaism, how I (B)used to persecute (C)the church of God beyond measure and (D)tried to destroy it; 14 and I (E)was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries among my [a]countrymen, being more extremely zealous for my (F)ancestral traditions. 15 But when [b]He who had set me apart even from my mother’s womb and (G)called me through His grace was pleased 16 to reveal His Son in me so that I might (H)preach Him among the Gentiles, (I)I did not immediately consult with [c](J)flesh and blood, 17 (K)nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went away to Arabia, and returned once more to (L)Damascus.

18 Then (M)three years later I went up (N)to Jerusalem to [d]become acquainted with [e](O)Cephas, and stayed with him for fifteen days. 19 But I did not see another one of the apostles except [f](P)James, the Lord’s brother. 20 (Now in what I am writing to you, [g]I assure you (Q)before God that I am not lying.) 21 Then (R)I went into the regions of (S)Syria and (T)Cilicia. 22 I was still unknown by [h]sight to (U)the churches of Judea which are (V)in Christ; 23 but they only kept hearing, “The man who once persecuted us is now preaching (W)the faith which he once (X)tried to destroy.” 24 And they (Y)were glorifying God [i]because of me.

13 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism,(A) how intensely I persecuted the church of God(B) and tried to destroy it.(C) 14 I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous(D) for the traditions of my fathers.(E) 15 But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb(F) and called me(G) by his grace, was pleased 16 to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles,(H) my immediate response was not to consult any human being.(I) 17 I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.(J)

18 Then after three years,(K) I went up to Jerusalem(L) to get acquainted with Cephas[a] and stayed with him fifteen days. 19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James,(M) the Lord’s brother. 20 I assure you before God(N) that what I am writing you is no lie.(O)

21 Then I went to Syria(P) and Cilicia.(Q) 22 I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea(R) that are in Christ.(S) 23 They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith(T) he once tried to destroy.”(U) 24 And they praised God(V) because of me.

  1. Galatians 1:18 That is, Peter

13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

20 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.

21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;

22 And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:

23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

24 And they glorified God in me.
