God’s Faithfulness

3 What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision? ² Much in every way!^(A) First of all, the Jews have been entrusted with the very words of God.^(B)

³ What if some were unfaithful?^(C) Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness?^{(D) 4} Not at all! Let God be true,^(E) and every human being a liar.^(F) As it is written:

³⁷ “This is the Moses who told the Israelites, ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your own people.’^{[a](A) 38} He was in the assembly in the wilderness, with the angel^(B) who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our ancestors;^(C) and he received living words^(D) to pass on to us.^(E)

²⁵ “I am not insane, most excellent^(A) Festus,” Paul replied. “What I am saying is true and reasonable. ²⁶ The king is familiar with these things,^(B) and I can speak freely to him. I am convinced that none of this has escaped his notice, because it was not done in a corner. ²⁷ King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you do.”

¹⁴ But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,^{(A) 15} and how from infancy^(B) you have known the Holy Scriptures,^(C) which are able to make you wise^(D) for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All Scripture is God-breathed^(E) and is useful for teaching,^(F) rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,^{(G) 17} so that the servant of God^[a](H) may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.^(I)

¹² In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths^(A) of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!^(B)

²⁰ Above all, you must understand^(A) that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. ²¹ For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God^(B) as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.^(C)

John and the Angel

⁶ The angel said to me,^(A) “These words are trustworthy and true.^(B) The Lord, the God who inspires the prophets,^(C) sent his angel^(D) to show his servants the things that must soon take place.”
