²⁴ And those who belong to Christ^[a] have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.^(A)

⁶ We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, so we might no longer be enslaved to sin.^(A)

¹⁴ Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.^(A)

¹³ for if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.^(A)

The Works of the Flesh

¹⁶ Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh.^{(A) 17} For what the flesh desires is opposed to the Spirit, and what the Spirit desires is opposed to the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you want.^{(B) 18} But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the law.^(C)

⁹ But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit,^[a] since the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.^(A)

Live as Servants of God

¹¹ Beloved, I urge you as aliens and exiles to abstain from the desires of the flesh that wage war against the soul.^[a](A)

¹⁴ May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which^[a] the world has been crucified to me and I to the world.^(A)

²³ and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.^(A)

⁷ Look^[a] at what is before your eyes. If you are confident that you belong to Christ, remind yourself of this, that just as you belong to Christ, so also do we.^(A)
