⁵ to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that ^(A)the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

¹⁶ Have I then become your enemy by ^(A)telling you the truth?^[a]

¹⁴ But when I saw that their ^(A)conduct was not in step with ^(B)the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas ^(C)before them all, “If you, though a Jew, ^(D)live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”

⁴ I say this in order ^(A)that no one may delude you with plausible arguments. ⁵ For ^(B)though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your ^(C)good order and ^(D)the firmness of your faith in Christ.

Alive in Christ

⁸ See to it that no one takes you captive by ^(K)philosophy and ^(L)empty deceit, according to ^(M)human tradition, according to the ^(N)elemental spirits^[a] of the world, and not according to Christ.

By Faith, or by Works of the Law?

3 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? ^(A)It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly ^(B)portrayed as crucified. ² Let me ask you only this: ^(C)Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by ^(D)hearing with faith?

Judgment on False Teachers

³ Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our ^(A)common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you ^(B)to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.

¹³ And ^(A)we also thank God constantly^[a] for this, that when you received ^(B)the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it ^(C)not as the word of men^[b] but as what it really is, the word of God, ^(D)which is at work in you believers.
