1 Paul an apostle—sent neither by human commission nor from human authorities but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead—

Paul’s Vindication of His Apostleship

¹¹ For I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel that was proclaimed by me is not of human origin,^{(A) 12} for I did not receive it from a human source, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is an instrument whom I have chosen to bring my name before gentiles and kings and before the people of Israel;^{(A) 16} I myself will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”^(B)

1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

To him who loves us and freed^[a] us from our sins by his blood

³ in due time he revealed his word through the proclamation with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior,^(A)

To the church of God that is in Corinth, together with all the saints throughout Achaia:^(A)

¹⁴ Then he said, ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear his own voice,^{(A) 15} for you will be his witness to all the world of what you have seen and heard.^{(B) 16} And now why do you delay? Get up, be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on his name.’^(C)

Paul Sent to the Gentiles

¹⁷ “After I had returned to Jerusalem and while I was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance^{(D) 18} and saw Jesus^[a] saying to me, ‘Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’ ¹⁹ And I said, ‘Lord, they themselves know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you.^{(E) 20} And while the blood of your witness Stephen was shed, I myself was standing by, approving and keeping the coats of those who killed him.’^{(F) 21} Then he said to me, ‘Go, for I will send you far away to the gentiles.’ ”^(G)
