²⁶ Then God said, “Let us^(A) make man^[a] in^[b] our image, according to our likeness.^(B) They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl^[c] on the earth.”^(C)

⁷ Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Sin’s Consequences

⁸ Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze,^[a] and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.^{(A) 9} So the Lord God called out to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”

¹⁰ And he said, “I heard you^[b] in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.”

¹⁹ Don’t you know that your body is a temple^(A) of the Holy Spirit^(B) who is in you,^(C) whom you have from God? You are not your own, ²⁰ for you were bought^(D) at a price. So glorify God with your body.^[a]
