Dios hace una promesa
9 Además, Dios bendijo a Noé y a sus hijos, y les dijo:
«Quiero que tengan muchos hijos, y que sus descendientes llenen la tierra. 2 Pongo bajo el dominio de ustedes a todos los animales de la tierra, a todas las aves del cielo, a todos los reptiles y a todos los peces del mar. Ante ustedes, todos ellos temblarán de miedo. 3 Yo les entrego todo lo que tiene vida, y todas las plantas verdes, para que les sirvan de alimento. 4 Pero no coman nunca carne que todavía tenga sangre, pues en la sangre está la vida.
5-6 »Yo hice al hombre y a la mujer semejantes a mí mismo. Por eso, si algún animal los mata a ustedes, ese animal también tendrá que morir; y si alguno de ustedes mata a otra persona, también tendrá que morir.
7 »Lo que yo quiero es que ustedes tengan muchos hijos, y que sus descendientes llenen la tierra».
8 También les dijo Dios:
9 «Ahora mismo les hago una promesa a ustedes y a sus descendientes. 10 Esta promesa incluye a todas las aves y a todos los animales domésticos y salvajes que estaban con ustedes en la casa flotante. 11 Y ésta es mi promesa: Nunca más volveré a destruir la tierra con una inundación tan terrible».
12-13 También dijo Dios:
«Acabo de hacerles una promesa a ustedes y a todos los seres vivos de esta tierra, que incluye también a los que todavía no han nacido. Como prueba de esta promesa, pongo mi arco iris. 14 Cuando yo traiga nubes sobre la tierra, el arco iris aparecerá, 15-17 y me acordaré de mi promesa. Jamás volverá a haber una inundación tan grande como para acabar con toda la vida. El arco iris es la señal de esta promesa».
Los hijos de Noé
18 Los tres hijos de Noé que salieron con él de la casa flotante fueron Sem, Cam y Jafet. Cam tuvo un hijo llamado Canaán. 19 Con los descendientes de los hijos de Noé volvió a poblarse toda la tierra.
20 Noé era un hombre de campo, y fue el primero en cultivar uvas. 21 Un día bebió vino, se emborrachó y se quedó desnudo dentro de su tienda de campaña. 22 Cuando Cam vio desnudo a su padre, salió corriendo a contárselo a sus dos hermanos. Recordemos que Cam es el antepasado de los cananitas. 23 Entonces Sem y Jafet tomaron una manta para cubrir a su padre. Para no verlo desnudo, caminaron de espaldas llevando la manta, y la dejaron caer sobre su padre.
24 Cuando Noé despertó de su borrachera y supo lo que su hijo Cam le había hecho, 25 dijo:
«¡Malditos sean los cananitas,
tus descendientes!
¡Serán los esclavos
de los descendientes de Sem y Jafet!»
26 Y dijo también:
«¡Bendito sea el Dios de Sem!
¡Los cananitas serán sus esclavos!
27 »¡Que Dios haga más grande
el territorio de Jafet!
¡Que viva Jafet en las tiendas de Sem!
¡Los cananitas serán sus esclavos!»
28 Después de la inundación, Noé vivió trescientos cincuenta años más. 29 Así que murió cuando tenía novecientos cincuenta años.

9 Gott segnete Noah und seine Söhne und sprach: »Vermehrt euch und bevölkert wieder die Erde! 2 Alle Tiere auf der Erde, alle Vögel am Himmel und alle Fische im Meer werden sich vor euch fürchten müssen, denn ich gebe sie in eure Hand. 3 Von jetzt an könnt ihr euch von ihrem Fleisch ernähren, nicht nur von den Pflanzen, die ich euch als Nahrung zugewiesen habe. 4 Aber esst kein Fleisch, in dem noch Blut ist, denn im Blut ist das Leben.
5 Niemand darf einen anderen Menschen ermorden! Wer dies tut – ob Mensch oder Tier –, muss mit dem Tod dafür büßen. Ich selbst werde ihn zur Rechenschaft ziehen. 6 Wer also das Blut eines Menschen vergießt, mit dem soll dasselbe geschehen: Er muss hingerichtet werden. Denn ich habe den Menschen als mein Ebenbild geschaffen.
7 So seht nun zu, dass eure Nachkommen zahlreich sind. Vermehrt euch, bis es auf der Erde von euch wimmelt!«
8 Dann sagte Gott zu Noah und seinen Söhnen: 9 »Ich schließe einen Bund mit euch und mit allen euren Nachkommen, 10 dazu mit den vielen verschiedenen Tieren, die bei euch in der Arche waren, von den größten bis zu den kleinsten. 11 Und das ist mein Versprechen: Nie wieder werde ich eine so große Flut schicken, um die Erde und alles, was auf ihr lebt, zu vernichten.« 12-13 Weiter sagte er: »Diesen Bund schließe ich mit euch und allen Bewohnern der Erde, immer und ewig will ich dazu stehen. Der Regenbogen soll ein Zeichen für dieses Versprechen sein. 14 Wenn ich Wolken am Himmel aufziehen lasse und der Regenbogen darin erscheint, 15 dann werde ich an meinen Bund denken, den ich mit Mensch und Tier geschlossen habe: Nie wieder eine so große Flut! Nie wieder soll alles Leben auf diese Weise vernichtet werden! 16-17 Ja«, sagte Gott, »diese Zusage gilt für alle Zeiten, der Regenbogen ist das Erinnerungszeichen. Wenn er zu sehen ist, werde ich daran denken.«
Noahs Söhne
18 Zusammen mit Noah hatten auch seine drei Söhne Sem, Ham und Jafet das Schiff verlassen. Ham war der Vater von Kanaan. 19 Von diesen dreien stammen alle Völker der Erde ab.
20 Noah betrieb Ackerbau und legte als Erster einen Weinberg an. 21 Eines Tages trank er so viel von dem Wein, dass er betrunken wurde und sich nackt in seinem Zelt schlafen legte. 22 Ham, der Vater von Kanaan, entdeckte ihn so und lief nach draußen, um es seinen beiden Brüdern zu erzählen. 23 Da nahmen Sem und Jafet einen Mantel, legten ihn über ihre Schultern und gingen rückwärts ins Zelt. Sie ließen ihn mit abgewandtem Gesicht über ihren Vater fallen, um ihn nicht nackt zu sehen.
24 Als Noah aus seinem Rausch aufwachte, erfuhr er, was sein Sohn Ham ihm angetan hatte. 25 »Verflucht sei Kanaan!«, rief er. »Er soll für seine Brüder der niedrigste aller Knechte sein!«
26 Weiter sagte er: »Gelobt sei der Herr, der Gott Sems! Er mache Kanaan zu Sems Knecht! 27 Gott gebe Jafet viel Land, damit er sich ausbreiten kann. Er lasse Jafet friedlich mit Sem zusammenwohnen, aber er mache Kanaan zu seinem Knecht!«
28 Noah lebte nach der Flut noch 350 Jahre 29 und starb im Alter von 950 Jahren.

God’s Covenant With Noah
9 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.(A) 2 The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands.(B) 3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you.(C) Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.(D)
4 “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.(E) 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting.(F) I will demand an accounting from every animal.(G) And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.(H)
6 “Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans shall their blood be shed;(I)
for in the image of God(J)
has God made mankind.
7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”(K)
8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9 “I now establish my covenant with you(L) and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant(M) with you:(N) Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.(O)”
12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant(P) I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:(Q) 13 I have set my rainbow(R) in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow(S) appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant(T) between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.(U) 16 Whenever the rainbow(V) appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant(W) between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant(X) I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
The Sons of Noah
18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth.(Y) (Ham was the father of Canaan.)(Z) 19 These were the three sons of Noah,(AA) and from them came the people who were scattered over the whole earth.(AB)
20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded[a] to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine,(AC) he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked(AD) and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.
24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said,
26 He also said,
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Shem!(AH)
May Canaan be the slave(AI) of Shem.
27 May God extend Japheth’s[b] territory;(AJ)
may Japheth live in the tents of Shem,(AK)
and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth.”
28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29 Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died.(AL)
