8 Dios se acordó entonces de Noé y de todos los animales salvajes y domésticos que estaban con él en el arca. Hizo que soplara un fuerte viento sobre la tierra, y las aguas comenzaron a bajar. 2 Se cerraron las fuentes del mar profundo y las compuertas del cielo, y dejó de llover. 3 Poco a poco, las aguas se fueron retirando de la tierra. Al cabo de ciento cincuenta días, las aguas habían disminuido. 4 El día diecisiete del mes séptimo, el arca se detuvo sobre las montañas de Ararat, 5 y las aguas siguieron bajando hasta que el primer día del mes décimo pudieron verse las cimas de las montañas.
6 Después de cuarenta días, Noé abrió la ventana del arca que había hecho 7 y soltó un cuervo, el cual estuvo volando de un lado a otro, esperando a que se secara la tierra. 8 Luego soltó una paloma, para ver si las aguas que cubrían la tierra ya se habían retirado. 9 Pero la paloma no encontró un lugar donde posarse, y volvió al arca porque las aguas aún cubrían la tierra. Noé extendió la mano, tomó la paloma y la metió consigo en el arca. 10 Esperó siete días más y volvió a soltar la paloma fuera del arca. 11 Caía la noche cuando la paloma regresó, trayendo en su pico una ramita de olivo recién cortada. Así Noé se dio cuenta de que las aguas habían bajado hasta dejar la tierra al descubierto. 12 Esperó siete días más y volvió a soltar la paloma, pero esta vez la paloma ya no regresó.
13 Noé tenía seiscientos un años cuando las aguas se secaron. El primer día del primer mes de ese año, Noé quitó la cubierta del arca y vio que la tierra estaba seca. 14 Para el día veintisiete del segundo mes, la tierra estaba ya completamente seca. 15 Entonces Dios le dijo a Noé: 16 «Sal del arca junto con tus hijos, tu esposa y tus nueras. 17 Saca también todos los seres vivientes que están contigo: las aves, el ganado y todos los animales que se arrastran por el suelo. ¡Que sean fecundos! ¡Que se multipliquen y llenen la tierra!»
18 Salieron, pues, del arca Noé y sus hijos, su esposa y sus nueras. 19 Salieron también todos los animales: el ganado, las aves y todos los reptiles que se mueven sobre la tierra, cada uno según su especie.
20 Luego Noé construyó un altar al Señor, y sobre ese altar ofreció como holocausto animales puros y aves puras. 21 Cuando el Señor percibió el grato aroma, se dijo a sí mismo: «Aunque las intenciones del ser humano son perversas desde su juventud, nunca más volveré a maldecir la tierra por culpa suya. Tampoco volveré a destruir a todos los seres vivientes, como acabo de hacer.
22 »Mientras la tierra exista,
habrá siembra y cosecha,
frío y calor,
verano e invierno,
y días y noches».

8 Dios tuvo compasión de Noé, y de todos los animales domésticos y salvajes que estaban con él en la casa flotante. Por eso lanzó un fuerte viento sobre la tierra, para que bajara el agua. 2 Las aguas que estaban debajo de la tierra dejaron de salir a la superficie, y del cielo dejó de caer agua. 3 El agua fue bajando poco a poco, y después de ciento cincuenta días, 4 la casa flotante se asentó sobre las montañas de Ararat. Era el día diecisiete del mes de Etanim.[a] 5 El agua siguió bajando hasta el mes de Tébet,[b] y el día primero de ese mes ya pudieron verse las cumbres de las montañas.
6 Cuarenta días después, Noé abrió la ventana de la casa 7 y soltó un cuervo, el cual estuvo volando de un lado para otro, pues no encontraba tierra seca donde pararse. 8 Después Noé soltó una paloma, para ver si ya el agua se había retirado. 9 Pero la paloma regresó a la casa flotante, pues no encontró dónde descansar. Y es que la tierra todavía estaba cubierta por el agua. Por eso Noé tomó la paloma, y la metió en la casa flotante.
10 Siete días después, Noé volvió a soltar la paloma. 11 Al caer la tarde volvió la paloma con una hoja de olivo en el pico. Así Noé entendió que ya no había agua sobre la tierra. 12 Sin embargo, esperó otros siete días y la volvió a soltar, pero la paloma ya no volvió.

13 El año en que Noé cumplió seiscientos un años, la tierra quedó seca. Era el día primero del mes de Abib.[c] Al ver esto, Noé le quitó el techo a la casa flotante. 14 Dos meses después la tierra estaba ya completamente seca. 15 Entonces Dios le dijo a Noé:
16 «Quiero que salgas ya de la casa, junto con tus hijos, tu esposa y tus nueras. 17 Deja salir también a todos los animales, incluyendo las aves y los reptiles que están contigo, para que se multipliquen y llenen la tierra».
18 Así fue como Noé salió de la casa, junto con sus hijos, su esposa y sus nueras. 19 Salieron también todos los animales, las aves y los reptiles.
20 Más tarde, Noé construyó un altar para adorar a Dios. Tomó entonces algunos de los animales y aves de los que Dios acepta como ofrenda, y en su honor los quemó sobre el altar. 21 Y cuando a Dios le llegó tan grato aroma, tomó la siguiente decisión:
«Aunque todo hombre y mujer sólo están pensando en hacer lo malo desde su niñez, por ninguno de ellos volveré a maldecir ni destruir la tierra como esta vez.
22 »Mientras la tierra exista,
siempre habrá siembras y cosechas;
siempre hará calor y frío,
siempre habrá invierno y verano,
y también noches y días».

8 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;
2 The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;
3 And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.
4 And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
5 And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.
6 And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:
7 And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.
8 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;
9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
10 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;
11 And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.
12 And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.
13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.
15 And God spake unto Noah, saying,
16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.
17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.
18 And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:
19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.
20 And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

8 But God remembered(A) Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth,(B) and the waters receded. 2 Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens(C) had been closed, and the rain(D) had stopped falling from the sky. 3 The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days(E) the water had gone down, 4 and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month(F) the ark came to rest on the mountains(G) of Ararat.(H) 5 The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible.
6 After forty days(I) Noah opened a window he had made in the ark 7 and sent out a raven,(J) and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth.(K) 8 Then he sent out a dove(L) to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. 9 But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. 10 He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. 11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.(M) 12 He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him.
13 By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year,(N) the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second month(O) the earth was completely dry.
15 Then God said to Noah, 16 “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.(P) 17 Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.”(Q)
18 So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives.(R) 19 All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything that moves on land—came out of the ark, one kind after another.
20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord(S) and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean(T) birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings(U) on it. 21 The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma(V) and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground(W) because of humans, even though[a] every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood.(X) And never again will I destroy(Y) all living creatures,(Z) as I have done.
