3 Pero la serpiente(A) era astuta, más que todos los animales del campo que Jehová Dios había hecho; la cual dijo a la mujer: ¿Conque Dios os ha dicho: No comáis de todo árbol del huerto? 2 Y la mujer respondió a la serpiente: Del fruto de los árboles del huerto podemos comer; 3 pero del fruto del árbol que está en medio del huerto dijo Dios: No comeréis de él, ni le tocaréis, para que no muráis. 4 Entonces la serpiente dijo a la mujer: No moriréis; 5 sino que sabe Dios que el día que comáis de él, serán abiertos vuestros ojos, y seréis como Dios, sabiendo el bien y el mal. 6 Y vio la mujer que el árbol era bueno para comer, y que era agradable a los ojos, y árbol codiciable para alcanzar la sabiduría; y tomó de su fruto, y comió; y dio también a su marido, el cual comió así como ella. 7 Entonces fueron abiertos los ojos de ambos, y conocieron que estaban desnudos; entonces cosieron hojas de higuera, y se hicieron delantales.
8 Y oyeron la voz de Jehová Dios que se paseaba en el huerto, al aire del día; y el hombre y su mujer se escondieron de la presencia de Jehová Dios entre los árboles del huerto. 9 Mas Jehová Dios llamó al hombre, y le dijo: ¿Dónde estás tú? 10 Y él respondió: Oí tu voz en el huerto, y tuve miedo, porque estaba desnudo; y me escondí. 11 Y Dios le dijo: ¿Quién te enseñó que estabas desnudo? ¿Has comido del árbol del que yo te mandé no comieses? 12 Y el hombre respondió: La mujer que me diste por compañera me dio del árbol, y yo comí. 13 Entonces Jehová Dios dijo a la mujer: ¿Qué es lo que has hecho? Y dijo la mujer: La serpiente me engañó,(B) y comí. 14 Y Jehová Dios dijo a la serpiente: Por cuanto esto hiciste, maldita serás entre todas las bestias y entre todos los animales del campo; sobre tu pecho andarás, y polvo comerás todos los días de tu vida. 15 Y pondré enemistad entre ti y la mujer, y entre tu simiente y la simiente suya; esta te herirá en la cabeza, y tú le herirás en el calcañar. 16 A la mujer dijo: Multiplicaré en gran manera los dolores en tus preñeces; con dolor darás a luz los hijos; y tu deseo será para tu marido,[a] y él se enseñoreará de ti. 17 Y al hombre dijo: Por cuanto obedeciste a la voz de tu mujer, y comiste del árbol de que te mandé diciendo: No comerás de él; maldita será la tierra por tu causa; con dolor comerás de ella todos los días de tu vida. 18 Espinos y cardos te producirá,(C) y comerás plantas del campo. 19 Con el sudor de tu rostro comerás el pan hasta que vuelvas a la tierra, porque de ella fuiste tomado; pues polvo eres, y al polvo volverás. 20 Y llamó Adán el nombre de su mujer, Eva,[b] por cuanto ella era madre de todos los vivientes. 21 Y Jehová Dios hizo al hombre y a su mujer túnicas de pieles, y los vistió.
22 Y dijo Jehová Dios: He aquí el hombre es como uno de nosotros, sabiendo el bien y el mal; ahora, pues, que no alargue su mano, y tome también del árbol de la vida,(D) y coma, y viva para siempre. 23 Y lo sacó Jehová del huerto de Edén, para que labrase la tierra de que fue tomado. 24 Echó, pues, fuera al hombre, y puso al oriente del huerto de Edén querubines, y una espada encendida que se revolvía por todos lados, para guardar el camino del árbol de la vida.

3 مار لە هەموو ئاژەڵی کێوی سەر زەوی، ئەوانەی یەزدانی پەروەردگار دروستی کردبوون زۆرزانتر و تەڵەکەبازتر بوو. بە ئافرەتەکەی گوت: «ئایا ڕاستە خودا فەرموویەتی: ”بۆتان نییە لە هیچ درەختێکی باخچەکە بخۆن؟“»
2 ئافرەتەکەش بە مارەکەی گوت: «بۆمان هەیە لە بەری درەختەکانی باخچەکە بخۆین، 3 بەڵام خودا فەرمووی: ”بۆتان نییە لە بەری ئەو دارە بخۆن، کە لەناوەڕاستی باخچەکەیە، هەروەها بۆتان نییە دەستی لێ بدەن، ئەگینا دەمرن.“»
4 مارەکە بە ئافرەتەکەی گوت: «نا بەڕاستی نامرن، 5 چونکە خودا دەزانێت ئەو ڕۆژەی کە دەیخۆن چاوتان دەکرێتەوە و ئیتر وەک خوداتان لێدێت، چاکە و خراپە دەزانن.»
6 کاتێک ئافرەتەکە بینی بەری دارەکە بۆ خواردن باش بوو، چاو ئارەزووی دەکرد و وات لێ دەکات دانا بیت، لە بەرەکەی کردەوە و خواردی، دایە مێردەکەشی کە لەگەڵی بوو، ئەویش خواردی. 7 ئیتر هەردووکیان چاویان کرایەوە و زانییان کە ڕووتن، ئیتر گەڵای هەنجیریان لێک دووری و پۆشاکیان بۆ خۆیان دروستکرد.
8 ئینجا پیاوەکە و ژنەکەی گوێیان لە دەنگی یەزدانی پەروەردگار بوو کە لە باخچەکەدا هاتوچۆی دەکرد، لە کاتی هەڵکردنی شنەبای ڕۆژ، ئەوانیش لەنێو درەختەکانی باخچەکە خۆیان لە یەزدانی پەروەردگاریان شاردەوە. 9 بەڵام یەزدانی پەروەردگاریش پیاوەکەی بانگکرد و فەرمووی: «لەکوێیت؟»
10 ئەویش وەڵامی دایەوە: «لە باخچەکە گوێم لە دەنگت بوو، منیش ترسام، چونکە ڕووت بووم، ئیتر خۆمم شاردەوە.»
11 ئەویش فەرمووی: «کێ بە تۆی گوت کە ڕووتیت؟ لەو درەختەت نەخواردبێت کە فەرمانم پێ کردبوویت لێی نەخۆیت؟»
12 پیاوەکەش گوتی: «ئەو ئافرەتەی پێت دام لەگەڵم بێت، ئەو لە بەری ئەو دارەی پێدام، منیش خواردم.»
13 ئینجا یەزدانی پەروەردگار بە ئافرەتەکەی فەرموو: «ئەمە چییە تۆ کردووتە؟»
ئافرەتەکەش گوتی: «مارەکە فریوی دام و منیش خواردم.»
14 یەزدانی پەروەردگار بە مارەکەی فەرموو: «لەبەر ئەوەی ئەمەت کرد،
«تۆ نەفرەت لێکراویت زیاتر لە هەموو ئاژەڵێکی ماڵی و
هەموو ئاژەڵێکی کێوی.
هەموو تەمەنیشت
لەسەر سکت دەخشێیت و
خۆڵ دەخۆیت.
15 دوژمنایەتیش دەخەمە
نێوان تۆ و ئافرەتەکە،
نێوان نەوەی تۆ و نەوەی ئەوەوە.
نەوەی ئەو سەرت پان دەکاتەوە[a] و
تۆش پاژنەی پێی دەکوتیت.»
16 بە ئافرەتەکەشی فەرموو:
«ئازاری سکپڕیت زۆر زیاتر دەکەم،
بە ژانەوە منداڵت دەبێت.
ئارەزووت بۆ پیاوەکەت دەبێت و
ئەویش بەسەرتدا زاڵ دەبێت.»
17 ئینجا بە پیاوەکەشی فەرموو: «لەبەر ئەوەی تۆش گوێت لە ژنەکەت گرت و لەو درەختەت خوارد کە فەرمانم پێ کردبوویت، ”نابێت لێی بخۆیت،“
«ئەوا زەویش بەهۆی تۆوە نەفرەت لێکراوە.
بە ڕەنجکێشانیش
هەموو ڕۆژانی ژیانت لێی دەخۆیت.
18 دڕکوداڵت بۆ بەرهەم دێنێت و
ڕووەکی کێڵگە دەخۆیت.
19 بە ئارەقەی ناوچەوانت
نان دەخۆیت،
هەتا دەگەڕێیتەوە بۆ زەوی،
کە لێیەوە وەرگیراویت،
لەبەر ئەوەی تۆ خۆڵیت و
بۆ خۆڵیش دەگەڕێیتەوە.»
20 ئادەم[b] ناوی ژنەکەی نا حەوا[c]، چونکە دەبێتە دایکی هەموو زیندووان.
21 یەزدانی پەروەردگار بۆ ئادەم و ژنەکەی جلی لە پێست دروستکرد و لەبەری کردن. 22 ئینجا یەزدانی پەروەردگار فەرمووی: «ئێستا مرۆڤ بووە بە یەکێکی وەک خۆمان، چاکە و خراپە دەزانێت، ئێستاش ڕێگەی پێ نادرێت دەستی درێژ بکات و لە داری ژیانیش بکاتەوە و بیخوات، بۆ هەتاهەتایە بژیێت.» 23 ئیتر یەزدانی پەروەردگار لە باخچەی عەدەن دەریکرد، بۆ ئەوەی لەو زەوییە ئیش بکات کە لەوێوە وەرگیراوە. 24 دوای ئەوەی مرۆڤی دەرکرد، بۆ پاسەوانی ڕێگای درەختی ژیان لە دیوی ڕۆژهەڵاتی باخچەی عەدەن کەڕوبەکانی[d] دانا، لەگەڵ شمشێری گڕدار کە بە هەموو لایەکدا دەسووڕایەوە.

The Fall
3 Now the serpent(A) was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?(B)”
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,(C) 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”(D)
4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.(E) 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God,(F) knowing good and evil.”
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable(G) for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband,(H) who was with her, and he ate it.(I) 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked;(J) so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.(K)
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking(L) in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid(M) from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”(N)
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid(O) because I was naked;(P) so I hid.”
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked?(Q) Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?(R)”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me(S)—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me,(T) and I ate.”
14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,
“Cursed(U) are you above all livestock
and all wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
and you will eat dust(V)
all the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring[a](W) and hers;(X)
he will crush[b] your head,(Y)
and you will strike his heel.”
16 To the woman he said,
“I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
with painful labor you will give birth to children.(Z)
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you.(AA)”
17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’(AB)
“Cursed(AC) is the ground(AD) because of you;
through painful toil(AE) you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.(AF)
18 It will produce thorns and thistles(AG) for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.(AH)
19 By the sweat of your brow(AI)
you will eat your food(AJ)
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”(AK)
20 Adam[c] named his wife Eve,[d](AL) because she would become the mother of all the living.
21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.(AM) 22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us,(AN) knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life(AO) and eat, and live forever.” 23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden(AP) to work the ground(AQ) from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side[e] of the Garden of Eden(AR) cherubim(AS) and a flaming sword(AT) flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.(AU)

3 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
