Corrupción de Sodoma
19 Los dos ángeles llegaron a Sodoma(A) al caer la tarde, cuando Lot estaba sentado a la puerta de Sodoma. Al verlos, Lot se levantó para recibirlos y se postró rostro en tierra(B), 2 y les dijo: «Señores míos, les ruego que entren en[a] la casa de su siervo y pasen en ella la noche y laven sus pies. Entonces se levantarán temprano y continuarán su camino». «No», dijeron ellos, «sino que pasaremos la noche en la plaza». 3 Él, sin embargo, les rogó con insistencia, y ellos fueron con[b] él y entraron en su casa. Lot les preparó un banquete y coció pan sin levadura, y comieron(C).
4 Aún no se habían acostado, cuando los hombres de la ciudad, los hombres de Sodoma(D), rodearon la casa, tanto jóvenes como viejos, todo el pueblo sin excepción[c]. 5 Y llamaron a Lot, y le dijeron: «¿Dónde están los hombres que vinieron a ti esta noche? Sácalos[d] para que los conozcamos[e](E)».
6 Entonces Lot salió a ellos a la entrada, y cerró la puerta tras sí, 7 «Hermanos míos, les ruego que no obren perversamente», les dijo Lot. 8 «Miren, tengo dos hijas que no han conocido varón. Permítanme sacarlas a ustedes y hagan con ellas como mejor les parezca[f]. Pero no hagan nada a estos hombres(F), pues se han amparado bajo[g] mi techo».
9 «¡Hazte a un lado!», dijeron ellos. Y dijeron además: «Este ha venido como extranjero[h], y ya está actuando como juez(G); ahora te trataremos a ti peor que a ellos». Se lanzaron contra Lot[i] y estaban a punto de romper la puerta, 10 pero los dos hombres[j](H) extendieron la mano y metieron a Lot en la casa con[k] ellos, y cerraron la puerta.
11 Y a los hombres que estaban a la entrada de la casa los hirieron con ceguera(I) desde el menor hasta el mayor, de manera que se cansaban tratando de hallar la entrada.
Lot huye de Sodoma
12 Entonces los dos hombres dijeron a Lot: «¿A quién más tienes aquí? A tus yernos, a tus hijos, a tus hijas y quienquiera que tengas en la ciudad, sácalos de este lugar. 13 Porque vamos a destruir este lugar, pues su clamor ha llegado a ser tan grande delante del Señor(J), que el Señor nos ha enviado a destruirlo(K)».
14 Lot salió y habló a sus yernos que iban a casarse con[l] sus hijas, y dijo: «Levántense, salgan de este lugar porque el Señor destruirá la ciudad(L)». Pero a sus yernos les pareció que[m] bromeaba(M).
15 Al amanecer, los ángeles apremiaban a Lot, diciendo: «Levántate, toma a tu mujer y a tus dos hijas que están aquí, para que no sean destruidos en el castigo[n] de la ciudad». 16 Pero él titubeaba. Entonces los dos hombres los tomaron de la mano(N), a él, y a su mujer y a sus dos hijas, porque[o] la compasión del Señor estaba sobre él(O). Los sacaron y los pusieron fuera de la ciudad.
17 Cuando los habían llevado fuera, uno le dijo: «Huye por tu vida(P). No mires detrás de ti(Q) y no te detengas en ninguna parte del valle[p](R). Escapa al monte(S), no sea que perezcas[q]». 18 «No, por favor, señores míos», les dijo Lot. 19 «Ahora tu siervo ha hallado gracia ante tus ojos, y has engrandecido tu misericordia la cual me has mostrado salvándome la vida. Pero no puedo escapar al monte, no sea que el desastre me alcance, y muera. 20 Mira, esta ciudad está bastante cerca para huir a ella, y es pequeña. Te ruego que me dejes huir allá (¿acaso no es pequeña?) para salvar mi vida[r]». 21 Y él le respondió: «Bien, te concedo también esta petición[s] de no destruir la ciudad de que has hablado. 22 Date prisa, escapa allá, porque nada puedo hacer hasta que llegues allí». Por eso el nombre que se le puso a la ciudad fue Zoar[t](T).
Destrucción de Sodoma y Gomorra
23 El sol había salido sobre la tierra cuando Lot llegó a Zoar. 24 Entonces el Señor hizo llover azufre y fuego sobre Sodoma y Gomorra, de parte del Señor desde los cielos(U). 25 Él destruyó aquellas ciudades(V) y todo el valle[u] y todos los habitantes de las ciudades y todo lo que crecía en la tierra. 26 Pero la mujer de Lot[v], que iba tras él, miró hacia atrás(W) y se convirtió en una columna de sal.
27 Abraham se levantó muy de mañana, y fue al sitio donde había estado delante del Señor(X). 28 Dirigió la vista hacia Sodoma y Gomorra y hacia toda la tierra del valle y miró; y el humo ascendía de la tierra como el humo de un horno(Y). 29 Pero cuando Dios destruyó las ciudades del valle, se acordó de Abraham(Z) e hizo salir[w] a Lot de en medio de la destrucción(AA), cuando destruyó las ciudades donde había habitado Lot.
Moab y Amón
30 Lot subió de Zoar y habitó en los montes[x](AB), y sus dos hijas con él, pues tenía miedo de quedarse[y] en Zoar. Y habitó en una cueva, él y sus dos hijas. 31 Entonces la mayor dijo a la menor: «Nuestro padre es viejo y no hay ningún hombre en el país que se llegue a nosotras(AC) según la costumbre de toda la tierra. 32 Ven, hagamos que beba vino nuestro padre(AD), y acostémonos con él para preservar nuestra familia por medio[z] de nuestro padre». 33 Aquella noche hicieron que su padre bebiera vino, y la mayor entró y se acostó con su padre, y él no supo cuando ella se acostó ni cuando se levantó.
34 Al día siguiente la mayor dijo a la menor: «Mira, anoche yo me acosté con mi padre. Hagamos que beba vino esta noche también, y entonces entra tú y acuéstate con él, para preservar nuestra familia por medio[aa] de nuestro padre». 35 De manera que también aquella noche hicieron que su padre bebiera vino, y la menor se levantó y se acostó con él, y él no supo cuando ella se acostó ni cuando se levantó. 36 Así las dos hijas de Lot concibieron de su padre.
37 Y la mayor dio a luz un hijo, y lo llamó Moab(AE). Él es el padre de los moabitas hasta hoy. 38 En cuanto a la menor, también ella dio a luz un hijo, y lo llamó Ben-Ammi. Él es el padre de los amonitas[ab](AF) hasta hoy.

Destrucción de Sodoma y Gomorra
19 Llegaron, pues, los dos ángeles a Sodoma a la caída de la tarde; y Lot estaba sentado a la puerta de Sodoma. Y viéndolos Lot, se levantó a recibirlos, y se inclinó hacia el suelo, 2 y dijo: Ahora, mis señores, os ruego que vengáis a casa de vuestro siervo y os hospedéis, y lavaréis vuestros pies; y por la mañana os levantaréis, y seguiréis vuestro camino. Y ellos respondieron: No, que en la calle nos quedaremos esta noche. 3 Mas él porfió con ellos mucho, y fueron con él, y entraron en su casa; y les hizo banquete, y coció panes sin levadura, y comieron. 4 Pero antes que se acostasen, rodearon la casa los hombres de la ciudad, los varones de Sodoma, todo el pueblo junto, desde el más joven hasta el más viejo. 5 Y llamaron a Lot, y le dijeron: ¿Dónde están los varones que vinieron a ti esta noche? Sácalos, para que los conozcamos. 6 Entonces Lot salió a ellos a la puerta, y cerró la puerta tras sí, 7 y dijo: Os ruego, hermanos míos, que no hagáis tal maldad. 8 He aquí ahora yo tengo dos hijas que no han conocido varón; os las sacaré fuera, y haced de ellas como bien os pareciere; solamente que a estos varones no hagáis nada, pues que vinieron a la sombra de mi tejado. 9 Y ellos respondieron: Quita allá; y añadieron: Vino este extraño para habitar entre nosotros, ¿y habrá de erigirse en juez? Ahora te haremos más mal que a ellos. Y hacían gran violencia al varón, a Lot, y se acercaron para romper la puerta. 10 Entonces los varones alargaron la mano, y metieron a Lot en casa con ellos, y cerraron la puerta. 11 Y a los hombres que estaban a la puerta de la casa hirieron con ceguera desde el menor hasta el mayor, de manera que se fatigaban buscando la puerta.
12 Y dijeron los varones a Lot: ¿Tienes aquí alguno más? Yernos, y tus hijos y tus hijas, y todo lo que tienes en la ciudad, sácalo de este lugar; 13 porque vamos a destruir este lugar, por cuanto el clamor contra ellos ha subido de punto delante de Jehová; por tanto, Jehová nos ha enviado para destruirlo. 14 Entonces salió Lot y habló a sus yernos, los que habían de tomar sus hijas, y les dijo: Levantaos, salid de este lugar; porque Jehová va a destruir esta ciudad. Mas pareció a sus yernos como que se burlaba.
15 Y al rayar el alba, los ángeles daban prisa a Lot, diciendo: Levántate, toma tu mujer, y tus dos hijas que se hallan aquí, para que no perezcas en el castigo de la ciudad. 16 Y deteniéndose él, los varones asieron de su mano, y de la mano de su mujer y de las manos de sus dos hijas, según la misericordia de Jehová para con él; y lo sacaron y lo pusieron fuera de la ciudad.(A)
17 Y cuando los hubieron llevado fuera, dijeron: Escapa por tu vida; no mires tras ti, ni pares en toda esta llanura; escapa al monte, no sea que perezcas. 18 Pero Lot les dijo: No, yo os ruego, señores míos. 19 He aquí ahora ha hallado vuestro siervo gracia en vuestros ojos, y habéis engrandecido vuestra misericordia que habéis hecho conmigo dándome la vida; mas yo no podré escapar al monte, no sea que me alcance el mal, y muera. 20 He aquí ahora esta ciudad está cerca para huir allá, la cual es pequeña; dejadme escapar ahora allá (¿no es ella pequeña?), y salvaré mi vida. 21 Y le respondió: He aquí he recibido también tu súplica sobre esto, y no destruiré la ciudad de que has hablado. 22 Date prisa, escápate allá; porque nada podré hacer hasta que hayas llegado allí. Por eso fue llamado el nombre de la ciudad, Zoar.[a] 23 El sol salía sobre la tierra, cuando Lot llegó a Zoar.
24 Entonces Jehová hizo llover sobre Sodoma y sobre Gomorra azufre y fuego de parte de Jehová desde los cielos; 25 y destruyó las ciudades, y toda aquella llanura, con todos los moradores de aquellas ciudades,(B) y el fruto de la tierra. 26 Entonces la mujer de Lot(C) miró atrás, a espaldas de él, y se volvió estatua de sal. 27 Y subió Abraham por la mañana al lugar donde había estado delante de Jehová. 28 Y miró hacia Sodoma y Gomorra, y hacia toda la tierra de aquella llanura miró; y he aquí que el humo subía de la tierra como el humo de un horno.
29 Así, cuando destruyó Dios las ciudades de la llanura, Dios se acordó de Abraham, y envió fuera a Lot de en medio de la destrucción, al asolar las ciudades donde Lot estaba.
30 Pero Lot subió de Zoar y moró en el monte, y sus dos hijas con él; porque tuvo miedo de quedarse en Zoar, y habitó en una cueva él y sus dos hijas. 31 Entonces la mayor dijo a la menor: Nuestro padre es viejo, y no queda varón en la tierra que entre a nosotras conforme a la costumbre de toda la tierra. 32 Ven, demos a beber vino a nuestro padre, y durmamos con él, y conservaremos de nuestro padre descendencia. 33 Y dieron a beber vino a su padre aquella noche, y entró la mayor, y durmió con su padre; mas él no sintió cuándo se acostó ella, ni cuándo se levantó. 34 El día siguiente, dijo la mayor a la menor: He aquí, yo dormí la noche pasada con mi padre; démosle a beber vino también esta noche, y entra y duerme con él, para que conservemos de nuestro padre descendencia. 35 Y dieron a beber vino a su padre también aquella noche, y se levantó la menor, y durmió con él; pero él no echó de ver cuándo se acostó ella, ni cuándo se levantó. 36 Y las dos hijas de Lot concibieron de su padre. 37 Y dio a luz la mayor un hijo, y llamó su nombre Moab, el cual es padre de los moabitas hasta hoy. 38 La menor también dio a luz un hijo, y llamó su nombre Ben-ammi, el cual es padre de los amonitas hasta hoy.

2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.
12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.
14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.
22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.
24 Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;
25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:
28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.
29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.
30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
37 And the first born bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.
38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.

The Doom of Sodom
19 Now the (A)two angels came to Sodom in the evening as Lot was sitting at the gate of Sodom. When (B)Lot saw them, he stood up to meet them and [a]bowed down with his face to the ground. 2 And he said, “Now behold, my lords, please turn aside into your servant’s house, and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way.” They said, “No, but we shall spend the night in the public square.” 3 Yet he strongly urged them, so they turned aside to him and entered his house; (C)and he prepared a feast for them and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. 4 Before they lay down, (D)the men of the city—the men of Sodom—surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people [b]from every quarter; 5 and they called to Lot and said to him, “(E)Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may [c]have relations with them.” 6 But Lot went out to them at the doorway, and shut the door behind him, 7 and said, “Please, my brothers, do not act wickedly. 8 Now look, (F)I have two daughters who have not [d]had relations with any man; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them [e]whatever you like; only do not do anything to these men, because they have come under the [f]shelter of my roof.” 9 But they said, “Get out of the way!” They also said, “This one came in [g]as a foreigner, and already (G)he is acting like a judge; now we will treat you worse than them!” So they pressed hard against [h]Lot and moved forward to break the door. 10 But (H)the men reached out their [i]hands and brought Lot into the house [j]with them, and shut the door. 11 Then (I)they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, from the small to the great, so that they became weary of trying to find the doorway.
12 Then the two men said to Lot, “Whom else do you have here? A son-in-law and your sons and daughters, and whomever you have in the city, bring them out of the place; 13 for we are about to destroy this place, because (J)their outcry has become so great before the Lord that (K)the Lord has sent us to destroy it.” 14 So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who [k]were to marry his daughters, and said, “Up, (L)get out of this place, for the Lord is destroying the city.” (M)But he appeared to his sons-in-law [l]to be joking.
15 When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the [m]punishment of the city.” 16 But he hesitated. So the men (N)grasped his hand and the hand of his wife and the [n]hands of his two daughters, because (O)the compassion of the Lord was upon him; and they brought him out and put him outside the city. 17 When they had brought them outside, [o]one said, “(P)Escape for your life! (Q)Do not look behind you, and do not stay [p]anywhere in the (R)surrounding area; escape to (S)the [q]mountains, or you will be swept away.” 18 But Lot said to them, “Oh no, my lords! 19 Now behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your compassion, which you have shown me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the [r]mountains, for the disaster will overtake me and I will die; 20 now behold, this town is near enough to flee to, and it is small. Please, let me escape there (is it not small?) [s]so that my life may be saved.” 21 And he said to him, “Behold, I grant you this [t]request also, not to overthrow the town of which you have spoken. 22 Hurry, escape there, for I cannot do anything until you arrive there.” Therefore the town was named [u](T)Zoar.
23 The sun had risen over the earth when Lot came to Zoar. 24 Then the Lord (U)rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah from the Lord out of heaven, 25 and (V)He overthrew those cities, and all the surrounding area, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. 26 But [v]Lot’s wife, from behind him, (W)looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
27 Now Abraham got up early in the morning and went to (X)the place where he had stood before the Lord; 28 and he looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the surrounding area; and [w]behold, he saw (Y)the smoke of the land ascended like the smoke of a [x]furnace.
29 So it came about, when God destroyed the cities of the surrounding area, that (Z)God remembered Abraham, and (AA)sent Lot out of the midst of the destruction, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot had lived.
Lot and His Daughters
30 Now Lot went up from Zoar with his two daughters and (AB)stayed in the [y]mountains, because he was afraid to stay in Zoar; and he stayed in a cave, he and his two daughters. 31 Then the firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man [z]on earth to [aa](AC)have relations with us according to the custom of all the earth. 32 Come, (AD)let’s make our father drink wine, and let’s sleep with him so that we may keep [ab]our family alive through our father.” 33 So they made their father drink wine that night, and the firstborn went in and slept with her father; and he did not know when she lay down or got up. 34 On the following day, the firstborn said to the younger, “Look, I slept last night with my father; let’s make him drink wine tonight too, then you go in and sleep with him, so that we may keep [ac]our family alive through our father.” 35 So they had their father drink wine that night too, and the younger got up and slept with him; and he did not know when she lay down or got up. 36 And so both of the daughters of Lot conceived by their father. 37 The firstborn gave birth to a son, and named him (AE)Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day. 38 As for the younger, she also gave birth to a son, and named him Ben-ammi; he is the father of [ad]the sons of (AF)Ammon to this day.
