Regreso de Abram a Canaán
13 Abram subió desde Egipto al Neguev[a](A), él y su mujer con todo lo que poseía; y con él iba Lot. 2 Abram era muy rico en ganado, en plata y en oro(B). 3 Y anduvo en sus jornadas desde el Neguev hasta Betel[b], al lugar donde su tienda había estado al principio, entre Betel y Hai(C), 4 al lugar del altar que antes había hecho allí. Allí Abram invocó el nombre del Señor(D).
Separación de Abram y Lot
5 También Lot, que andaba con Abram(E), tenía ovejas, vacas y tiendas. 6 Pero la tierra no podía sostenerlos para que habitaran juntos(F), porque sus posesiones eran tantas que ya no podían habitar juntos(G). 7 Hubo, pues, problema entre los pastores del ganado de Abram y los pastores del ganado de Lot(H). Los cananeos y los ferezeos habitaban entonces en aquella[c] tierra(I).
8 Así que Abram dijo a Lot: «Te ruego que no haya problema(J) entre nosotros[d], ni entre mis pastores y tus pastores, porque somos hermanos. 9 ¿No está toda la tierra delante de ti? Te ruego que te separes de mí. Si vas a la izquierda, yo iré a la derecha; y si a la derecha, yo iré a la izquierda». 10 Y alzó Lot los ojos y vio todo el valle[e](K) del Jordán, el cual estaba bien regado por todas partes (esto fue antes de que el Señor destruyera a Sodoma y Gomorra(L)) como el huerto(M) del Señor, como la tierra de Egipto(N) rumbo[f] a Zoar(O).
11 Lot escogió para sí todo el valle del Jordán, y viajó Lot hacia el oriente. Así se separaron el uno del otro. 12 Abram se estableció[g] en la tierra de Canaán, en tanto que Lot se estableció[h] en las ciudades del valle, y fue poniendo sus tiendas hasta Sodoma(P). 13 Pero los hombres de Sodoma(Q) eran malos y pecadores en gran manera(R) contra el Señor.
Promesa de Dios a Abram
14 Y el Señor dijo a Abram después que Lot se había separado de él: «Alza ahora los ojos y mira(S) desde el lugar donde estás hacia el norte, el sur, el oriente y el occidente(T), 15 pues toda la tierra que ves te la daré a ti(U) y a tu descendencia[i](V) para siempre. 16 Haré tu descendencia[j] como el polvo de la tierra(W); de manera que si alguien puede contar el polvo de la tierra, también tu descendencia[k] podrá contarse. 17 Levántate, recorre la tierra(X) a lo largo y a lo ancho de ella, porque a ti te la daré(Y)».
18 Entonces Abram levantó su tienda, y fue y habitó en el encinar[l] de Mamre(Z), que está en Hebrón, y allí edificó un altar al Señor(AA).

Abram y Lot se separan
13 Cuando Abram salió de Egipto, se fue al desierto del sur. Se llevó a su esposa, a su sobrino Lot y todo lo que tenía. 2 Para entonces Abram ya era muy rico, pues tenía oro, plata y ganado.
3 Del desierto del sur se fue avanzando poco a poco en dirección a Betel. Allí había plantado antes su tienda de campaña, entre las ciudades de Betel y Ai. 4 Allí también había construido un altar para adorar a Dios.
5 Lot también tenía ovejas y vacas, y tiendas de campaña. 6 Era tanto lo que Lot y Abram tenían, que ya no podían vivir juntos en la misma región. 7 Además, los cananeos y los ferezeos también vivían allí. Un día, hubo un pleito entre los pastores de Abram y los pastores de Lot, 8 por lo que Abram le dijo a Lot:
«Tú y yo no debemos pelearnos, ni tampoco mis pastores y tus pastores, pues somos parientes. 9 Hay tierra para todos, te ruego que te vayas a otra región. Si te vas a la izquierda, yo me iré a la derecha; si te vas a la derecha, yo me iré a la izquierda. ¡Pero debemos separarnos!»
10 Lot miró a su alrededor y vio que en el valle del río Jordán nunca faltaba agua. Y es que antes de que Dios destruyera las ciudades de Sodoma y Gomorra, todo ese valle hasta Sóar era tan hermoso como el jardín de Edén y tan fértil como la tierra de Egipto. 11 Entonces, Lot eligió todo ese valle y se fue hacia el este. Así Abram y Lot se separaron. 12 Abram se quedó a vivir en la tierra de Canaán, mientras que Lot se fue a vivir en las ciudades del valle del Jordán, cerca de Sodoma. 13 La gente de ese lugar era muy mala y cometía muchos pecados contra Dios.
14 Después de que Abram se separó de Lot, Dios le dijo:
«Abram, allí donde estás, levanta la vista y mira hacia el norte y hacia el sur, hacia el este y el oeste. 15 Voy a darte toda la tierra que alcances a ver. Para siempre será tuya y de tus descendientes. 16 También voy a hacer que tengas muchos descendientes. Y así como nadie puede contar el polvo de la tierra, tampoco nadie podrá contarlos a ellos. 17 Anda, recorre la tierra a lo largo y a lo ancho, porque yo te la estoy entregando».
18 Entonces Abram levantó su campamento y se fue a vivir a Hebrón, junto al bosque de Mamré. Allí construyó un altar para adorar a Dios.

Abram and Lot Separate
13 So Abram went up from Egypt(A) to the Negev,(B) with his wife and everything he had, and Lot(C) went with him. 2 Abram had become very wealthy(D) in livestock(E) and in silver and gold.
3 From the Negev(F) he went from place to place until he came to Bethel,(G) to the place between Bethel and Ai(H) where his tent had been earlier 4 and where he had first built an altar.(I) There Abram called on the name of the Lord.(J)
5 Now Lot,(K) who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents. 6 But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.(L) 7 And quarreling(M) arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites(N) and Perizzites(O) were also living in the land(P) at that time.
8 So Abram said to Lot,(Q) “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me,(R) or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives.(S) 9 Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”(T)
10 Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain(U) of the Jordan toward Zoar(V) was well watered, like the garden of the Lord,(W) like the land of Egypt.(X) (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom(Y) and Gomorrah.)(Z) 11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company: 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan,(AA) while Lot(AB) lived among the cities of the plain(AC) and pitched his tents near Sodom.(AD) 13 Now the people of Sodom(AE) were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord.(AF)
14 The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west.(AG) 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring[a] forever.(AH) 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.(AI) 17 Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land,(AJ) for I am giving it to you.”(AK)
18 So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre(AL) at Hebron,(AM) where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord.(AN)

And there Abram (F)called on the name of the Lord.
5 Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents. 6 Now (G)the land was not able to [b]support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together. 7 And there was (H)strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. (I)The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land.
8 So Abram said to Lot, (J)“Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. 9 (K)Is not the whole land before you? Please (L)separate from me. (M)If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.”
10 And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all (N)the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the Lord (O)destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) (P)like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as you go toward (Q)Zoar. 11 Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other. 12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot (R)dwelt in the cities of the plain and (S)pitched his tent even as far as Sodom. 13 But the men of Sodom (T)were exceedingly wicked and (U)sinful against the Lord.
14 And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot (V)had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—(W)northward, southward, eastward, and westward; 15 for all the land which you see (X)I give to you and (Y)your [c]descendants forever. 16 And (Z)I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. 17 Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”
18 (AA)Then Abram moved his tent, and went and (AB)dwelt by [d]the terebinth trees of Mamre, (AC)which are in Hebron, and built an (AD)altar there to the Lord.
