14 Y así sucedió para que ahora Dios pueda dar también a los gentiles la misma bendición que prometió a Abraham; y para que nosotros podamos recibir la promesa del Espíritu Santo a través de esta fe.
La ley y la promesa
15 Hermanos, les pondré un ejemplo. Cualquier contrato humano si es por escrito y está firmado, tiene que ser cumplido. Nadie puede anularlo ni añadirle nada una vez que se ha firmado. 16 De la misma manera, Dios les hizo promesas a Abraham y a su descendencia. Noten ustedes que no dice que las promesas eran para los descendientes de Abraham, como si fueran muchos; sino que dice «para su descendencia»; pues bien, esa descendencia es Cristo.

14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus,(A) so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.(B)
The Law and the Promise
15 Brothers and sisters,(C) let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case. 16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed.(D) Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,”[a](E) meaning one person, who is Christ.
