De vrede van God gaat ons menselijk besef te boven
4 Broeders en zusters, blijf daarom standvastig in de Here. Ik verlang erg naar u, omdat u een speciale plaats in mijn hart hebt. U bent mijn vreugde en de kroon op mijn werk.
2 Euodia en Syntyche vraag ik het eens te worden in de Here. 3 Aan u, mijn toegewijde reisgenoot, vraag ik hun te helpen. Deze vrouwen hebben zich immers met mij ingespannen om het goede nieuws bekend te maken, net als Clemens en mijn andere medewerkers, van wie de namen staan opgeschreven in het Boek van het leven.
4 Wees blij in de Here. Ik zeg het nog eens: verheug u in Hem! 5 Laat uw vriendelijkheid bij iedereen bekend zijn. De Here is dicht bij u. 6 Maak u nergens zorgen over, maar bid voor alles en vraag God wat u nodig hebt, dankbaar voor alles wat Hij doet. 7 Dan zult u de vrede van God ervaren, een vrede die ons menselijk besef te boven gaat en die de wacht houdt over uw hart en gedachten, omdat u in Christus Jezus bent.
8 Broeders en zusters, richt daarom uw gedachten op alles wat waar, eervol, rechtvaardig, zuiver en mooi is en wat goed bekend staat, kortom alles wat deugdzaam en loffelijk is. 9 Breng niet alleen in praktijk wat u van mij geleerd hebt, maar ook wat u van mij gehoord en gezien hebt, dan zal de God van de vrede met u zijn.
10 Ik ben erg blij en dankbaar dat u mij weer hebt geholpen. U was al een hele tijd bezorgd geweest, maar kreeg steeds de kans niet om iets te doen. 11 Ik zeg dit niet omdat ik iets tekort kom, want ik heb geleerd onder alle omstandigheden tevreden te zijn met wat ik heb, of het nu veel of weinig is. 12 Ik weet uit ervaring wat het is om te leven in gebrek en in overvloed. Ik ben met allerlei omstandigheden vertrouwd, zowel met genoeg te eten te hebben als met honger lijden en zowel met meer dan voldoende te hebben als gebrek te lijden. 13 Ik ben in staat alles te doen door Christus, die mij daarvoor de kracht geeft. 14 Hoe dan ook, het is goed dat u de druk waaronder ik leef, hebt verlicht.
15 Beste Filippenzen, u weet immers nog goed dat in het begin van mijn werk voor de verbreiding van het goede nieuws u de enige gemeente was die mij geregeld een gift stuurde nadat ik uit uw streek, Macedonië, vertrokken was. 16 Zelfs toen ik in Thessalonica was, hebt u mij nog twee keer iets gestuurd om mij te helpen. 17 Nu gaat het mij niet om de gift op zich, maar wel om uw goede werk waardoor uw hemelse beloning steeds groter wordt. 18 Ik heb de hele gift ontvangen en heb momenteel meer dan voldoende. Voorlopig kom ik niets tekort nu Epafroditus mij uw gaven heeft overhandigd. Zij zijn een heerlijk geurend offer, aangenaam voor God. 19 Mijn God zal uit zijn rijkdom in Christus Jezus u alles geven wat u nodig hebt. 20 Alle eer is voor God, onze Vader, voor altijd en eeuwig. Amen.
21 Breng mijn groeten over aan alle christenen daar. De broeders en zusters die bij mij zijn, groeten u ook. 22 Evenals alle gelovigen hier en vooral zij die bij de keizer in dienst zijn. 23 Ik wens u toe dat de genade van de Here Jezus Christus met uw geest zal zijn.

4 So, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and my crown, my dear friends, keep standing firm in union with the Lord.
2 I beg Evodia and I beg Syntyche to agree with each other in union with the Lord. 3 I also request you, loyal Syzygus, to help these women; for they have worked hard proclaiming the Good News with me, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow-workers whose names are in the Book of Life.
4 Rejoice in union with the Lord always! I will say it again: rejoice! 5 Let everyone see how reasonable and gentle you are. The Lord is near! 6 Don’t worry about anything; on the contrary, make your requests known to God by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving. 7 Then God’s shalom, passing all understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with the Messiah Yeshua. 8 In conclusion, brothers, focus your thoughts on what is true, noble, righteous, pure, lovable or admirable, on some virtue or on something praiseworthy. 9 Keep doing what you have learned and received from me, what you have heard and seen me doing; then the God who gives shalom will be with you.
10 In union with the Lord I greatly rejoice that now, after this long time, you have let your concern for me express itself again. Of course, you were concerned for me all along, but you had no opportunity to express it. 11 Not that I am saying this to call attention to any need of mine; since, as far as I am concerned, I have learned to be content regardless of circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in want, and I know what it is to have more than enough — in everything and in every way I have learned the secret of being full and being hungry, of having abundance and being in need. 13 I can do all things through him who gives me power.
14 Nevertheless, it was good of you to share in my trouble. 15 And you Philippians yourselves know that in the early days of my work spreading the Good News, when I left Macedonia, not a single congregation shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving — only you. 16 Indeed, in Thessalonica when I needed it, you sent me aid twice. 17 I am not seeking the gift; rather, I am looking for what will increase the credit balance of your account. 18 I have been more than paid in full: I have been filled, since I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent — they are a fragrant aroma,[a] an acceptable sacrifice, one that pleases God well. 19 Moreover, my God will fill every need of yours according to his glorious wealth, in union with the Messiah Yeshua. 20 And to God our Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
21 Greet each of God’s people in the Messiah Yeshua. The brothers with me send their greetings to you. 22 All God’s people send greetings, but especially those in the Emperor’s household.
23 The grace of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah be with your spirit.

3 Yes, I ask also you, true yoke-fellow, assist these women who contended alongside me in the Besuras HaGeulah with both Clement and the rest of the fellow po’alim (workers) of mine, whose names are in the Sefer HaChayyim.
4 Have simcha in Adoneinu always; again I will say it: Rejoice!
5 Let your chassidus (piety) and sobriety be known to kol Bnei Adam; Moshiach Adoneinu is near.
6 Be anxious in nothing [Mt 6:25; 1K 5:7], but in everything by tefillah and by techinnah (supplication) with hodayah (thanksgiving), let your requests be made known before Hashem,
7 And the shalom Hashem [YESHAYAH 26:3; Yn 14:27; Co. 3:15], surpassing all binah (understanding), will guard your levavot and your machshavot (thoughts) in Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Yehoshua.
8 As to the rest, Achim b’Moshiach, whatever things are emes (truth), nichbad (noble), yashar (straight), tahor (clean), male No’am (full of pleasantness) and tiferet (beauty) [SHEMOT 28:2], whatever things are commendable, if there is any virtue, if any praise, think about these things.
9 And that which you learned and you received and you heard and you saw in me, practice these [Ro 12:17] and Elohei HaShalom will be with you.
10 I had much simcha in Adoneinu that now at last you blossomed anew so as to think of me, for indeed you were thinking of me, but were lacking opportunity.
11 Not that I refer to lack, for I have learned, in whatever circumstances I am, to be tzufrieden (content) [1Ti 6:6].
12 I have da’as both to be humbled in anavah and I have da’as how to abound in everything. And in all things I have learned what is nistar (concealed, hidden, unseen), I have learned the secret of being filled and having hunger, of abounding and having lack.
13 I can do all things in the One giving me ko’ach.
14 Fort (nevertheless), you did well in entering into deveykus (communing with Hashem) through sharing in my Messianic yissurim (sufferings) with me.
15 And also you Philippians have da’as, that in the beginning of the Besuras HaGeulah, when I went out from Macedonia, not one kehillah shared with me in an accounting of expenditures and receipts except you only.
16 Indeed in Thessalonica both once and again you sent to my machsor (shortage).
17 Not that I seek the matanah (gift), but I seek the p’ri increasing to your account [1C 9:11].
18 But I have all things and I abound; I have been filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things from you, a RE’ACH HANNICHOACH ("a pleasant aroma" BERESHIS 8:21), an acceptable, sacrifice wellpleasing to Hashem [SHEMOT 29:18; YECHEZKEL 20:41].
19 And my G-d will fill every machsor (shortage, want) of yours according to his osher (riches) in Kavod in Moshiach Yehoshua.
20 L’Elohim Avinu hakavod l’Olemei Olamim. Omein. (To G-d and our Father be glory forever and ever. Amen)
21 Drishat Shalom (Kind Regards) to every Kadosh in Moshiach Yehoshua; the Achim b’Moshiach here with me send Drishat Shalom.
22 All the Kadoshim send "Shalom" greetings, especially the Kadoshim in Caesar [Nero’s] household [Pp 1:13].
23 The Chen v’Chesed of Adoneinu Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Yehoshua be with your neshamah.
