2 POR tanto, si hay alguna consolación en Cristo; si algún refrigerio de amor; si alguna comunión del Espíritu; si algunas entrañas y misericordias,
2 Cumplid mi gozo; que sintáis lo mismo, teniendo el mismo amor, unánimes, sintiendo una misma cosa.
3 Nada hagáis por contienda ó por vanagloria; antes bien en humildad, estimándoos inferiores los unos á los otros:
4 No mirando cada uno á lo suyo propio, sino cada cual también á lo de los otros.
5 Haya, pues, en vosotros este sentir que hubo también en Cristo Jesús:
6 El cual, siendo en forma de Dios, no tuvo por usurpación ser igual á Dios:
7 Sin embargo, se anonadó á sí mismo, tomando forma de siervo, hecho semejante á los hombres;
8 Y hallado en la condición como hombre, se humilló á sí mismo, hecho obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz.
9 Por lo cual Dios también le ensalzó á lo sumo, y dióle un nombre que es sobre todo nombre;
10 Para que en el nombre de Jesús se doble toda rodilla de los que están en los cielos, y de los que en la tierra, y de los que debajo de la tierra;
11 Y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es el Señor, á la gloria de Dios Padre.
12 Por tanto, amados míos, como siempre habéis obedecido, no como en mi presencia solamente, sino mucho más ahora en mi ausencia, ocupaos en vuestra salvación con temor y temblor;
13 Porque Dios es el que en vosotros obra así el querer como el hacer, por su buena voluntad.
14 Haced todo sin murmuraciones y contiendas,
15 Para que seáis irreprensibles y sencillos, hijos de Dios sin culpa en medio de la nación maligna y perversa, entre los cuales resplandecéis como luminares en el mundo;
16 Reteniendo la palabra de vida para que yo pueda gloriarme en el día de Cristo, que no he corrido en vano, ni trabajado en vano.
17 Y aun si soy derramado en libación sobre el sacrificio y servicio de vuestra fe, me gozo y congratulo por todos vosotros.
18 Y asimismo gozaos también vosotros, y regocijaos conmigo.
19 Mas espero en el Señor Jesús enviaros presto á Timoteo, para que yo también esté de buen ánimo, entendido vuestro estado.
20 Porque á ninguno tengo tan unánime, y que con sincera afición esté solícito por vosotros.
21 Porque todos buscan lo suyo propio, no lo que es de Cristo Jesús.
22 Pero la experiencia de él habéis conocido, que como hijo á padre ha servido conmigo en el evangelio.
23 Así que á éste espero enviaros, luego que yo viere cómo van mis negocios;
24 Y confío en el Señor que yo también iré presto á vosotros.
25 Mas tuve por cosa necesaria enviaros á Epafrodito, mi hermano, y colaborador y compañero de milicia, y vuestro mensajero, y ministrador de mis necesidades;
26 Porque tenía gran deseo de ver á todos vosotros, y gravemente se angustió porque habíais oído que había enfermado.
27 Pues en verdad estuvo enfermo á la muerte: mas Dios tuvo misericordia de él; y no solamente de él, sino aun de mí, para que yo no tuviese tristeza sobre tristeza.
28 Así que le envío más presto, para que viéndole os volváis á gozar, y yo esté con menos tristeza.
29 Recibidle pues en el Señor con todo gozo; y tened en estima á los tales:
30 Porque por la obra de Cristo estuvo cercano á la muerte, poniendo su vida para suplir vuestra falta en mi servicio.

Humillación y exaltación de Cristo
2 Por tanto, si sienten algún estímulo en su unión con Cristo, algún consuelo en su amor, algún compañerismo en el Espíritu, algún afecto entrañable, 2 llénenme de alegría teniendo un mismo parecer, un mismo amor, unidos en alma y pensamiento. 3 No hagan nada por egoísmo o vanidad; más bien, con humildad consideren a los demás como superiores a ustedes mismos. 4 Cada uno debe velar no solo por sus propios intereses, sino también por los intereses de los demás.
5 La actitud de ustedes debe ser como la de Cristo Jesús,
6 quien, siendo por naturaleza[a] Dios,
no consideró el ser igual a Dios como algo a qué aferrarse.
7 Por el contrario, se rebajó voluntariamente,
tomando la naturaleza[b] de siervo
y haciéndose semejante a los seres humanos.
8 Y al manifestarse como hombre,
se humilló a sí mismo
y se hizo obediente hasta la muerte,
¡y muerte de cruz!
9 Por eso Dios lo exaltó hasta lo sumo
y le otorgó el nombre
que está sobre todo nombre,
10 para que ante el nombre de Jesús
se doble toda rodilla
en el cielo y en la tierra
y debajo de la tierra,
11 y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es el Señor,
para gloria de Dios Padre.
Testimonio de luz
12 Así que, mis queridos hermanos, como han obedecido siempre —no solo en mi presencia, sino mucho más ahora en mi ausencia—, lleven a cabo su salvación con temor y temblor, 13 pues Dios es quien produce en ustedes tanto el querer como el hacer para que se cumpla su buena voluntad.
14 Háganlo todo sin quejas ni contiendas, 15 para que sean intachables y puros, hijos de Dios sin culpa en medio de una generación torcida y depravada. En ella ustedes brillan como estrellas en el mundo, 16 manteniendo en alto[c] la palabra de vida. Así en el día de Cristo me sentiré satisfecho de no haber corrido ni trabajado en vano. 17 Y aunque mi vida fuera derramada[d] sobre el sacrificio y servicio que proceden de su fe, me alegro y comparto con todos ustedes mi alegría. 18 Así también ustedes, alégrense y compartan su alegría conmigo.

19 Espero en el Señor Jesús enviarles pronto a Timoteo, para que también yo cobre ánimo al recibir noticias de ustedes. 20 Nadie como él se preocupa de veras por el bienestar de ustedes, 21 pues todos los demás buscan sus propios intereses y no los de Jesucristo. 22 Pero ustedes conocen bien la entereza de carácter de Timoteo, que ha servido conmigo en la obra del evangelio, como un hijo junto a su padre. 23 Así que espero enviárselo tan pronto como se aclaren mis asuntos. 24 Y confío en el Señor que yo mismo iré pronto.
25 Ahora bien, creo que es necesario enviarles de vuelta a Epafrodito, mi hermano, colaborador y compañero de lucha, a quien ustedes han enviado para atenderme en mis necesidades. 26 Él los extraña mucho a todos y está afligido porque ustedes se enteraron de que estaba enfermo. 27 En efecto, estuvo enfermo y al borde de la muerte; pero Dios se compadeció de él, y no solo de él, sino también de mí, para no añadir tristeza a mi tristeza. 28 Así que lo envío urgentemente para que, al verlo de nuevo, ustedes se alegren y yo esté menos preocupado. 29 Recíbanlo en el Señor con toda alegría y honren a los que son como él, 30 porque estuvo a punto de morir por la obra de Cristo, arriesgando la vida para suplir el servicio que ustedes no podían prestarme.

Christus, das Vorbild der Demut
2 Gibt es nun irgendwelche Ermahnung in Christus, gibt es Zuspruch der Liebe, gibt es Gemeinschaft des Geistes, gibt es Herzlichkeit und Erbarmen, 2 so machet meine Freude völlig, indem ihr eines Sinnes seid, gleiche Liebe habet, einmütig und auf eines bedacht seid, 3 nichts tut aus Parteigeist oder eitler Ruhmsucht, sondern durch Demut einer den andern höher achtet als sich selbst, 4 indem jeder nicht nur das Seine ins Auge faßt, sondern auch das des andern.
5 Denn ihr sollt so gesinnt sein, wie Jesus Christus auch war, 6 welcher, da er sich in Gottes Gestalt befand, es nicht wie einen Raub festhielt, Gott gleich zu sein; 7 sondern sich selbst entäußerte, die Gestalt eines Knechtes annahm und den Menschen ähnlich wurde, 8 und in seiner äußern Erscheinung wie ein Mensch erfunden, sich selbst erniedrigte und gehorsam wurde bis zum Tod, ja bis zum Kreuzestod. 9 Darum hat ihn auch Gott über alle Maßen erhöht und ihm den Namen geschenkt, der über allen Namen ist, 10 damit in dem Namen Jesu sich alle Knie derer beugen, die im Himmel und auf Erden und unter der Erde sind, 11 und alle Zungen bekennen, daß Jesus Christus der Herr sei, zur Ehre Gottes, des Vaters.
Ermahnung zu einem heiligen Wandel
12 Darum, meine Geliebten, wie ihr allezeit gehorsam gewesen seid, nicht allein in meiner Gegenwart, sondern jetzt noch vielmehr in meiner Abwesenheit, vollendet eure Rettung mit Furcht und Zittern; 13 denn Gott ist es, der in euch sowohl das Wollen als auch das Vollbringen wirkt, nach seinem Wohlgefallen.
14 Tut alles ohne Murren und Bedenken, 15 damit ihr unsträflich seid und lauter, untadelige Gotteskinder, mitten unter einem verdrehten und verkehrten Geschlecht, unter welchem ihr scheinet als Lichter in der Welt, 16 indem ihr das Wort des Lebens darbietet, mir zum Ruhm auf den Tag Christi, daß ich nicht vergeblich gelaufen bin, noch vergeblich gearbeitet habe. 17 Sollte ich aber auch wie ein Trankopfer ausgegossen werden über dem Opfer und dem Gottesdienst eures Glaubens, so bin ich doch froh und freue mich mit euch allen; 18 gleicherweise sollt auch ihr froh sein und euch mit mir freuen!
Paulus lobt Timotheus und Epaphroditus und beabsichtigt, sie zu den Philippern zu senden
19 Ich hoffe aber in dem Herrn Jesus, Timotheus bald zu euch zu senden, damit ich ermutigt werde, wenn ich erfahre, wie es um euch steht. 20 Denn ich habe sonst niemand von gleicher Gesinnung, der so redlich für eure Anliegen sorgen wird; 21 denn sie suchen alle das Ihre, nicht das, was Christi Jesu ist! 22 Wie er sich aber bewährt hat, das wisset ihr, daß er nämlich, wie ein Kind dem Vater, mit mir Dienst getan hat für das Evangelium. 23 Diesen nun hoffe ich sofort zu senden, sobald ich absehen kann, wie es mit mir gehen wird. 24 Ich bin aber voll Zuversicht im Herrn, daß auch ich selbst bald kommen werde.
25 Doch habe ich es für notwendig erachtet, Epaphroditus, meinen Bruder und Mitarbeiter und Mitstreiter, der auch als euer Gesandter und Diener meiner Not mir zu Hilfe kam, zu euch zu senden; 26 denn er hatte Verlangen nach euch allen und war bekümmert, weil ihr gehört hattet, daß er krank gewesen sei. 27 Er war auch wirklich todkrank; aber Gott hat sich seiner erbarmt, und nicht nur über ihn, sondern auch über mich, damit ich nicht eine Traurigkeit um die andere hätte. 28 Desto schleuniger habe ich ihn nun gesandt, damit ihr durch seinen Anblick wieder froh werdet und auch ich weniger Traurigkeit habe. 29 So nehmt ihn nun auf im Herrn mit aller Freude und haltet solche Männer in Ehren; 30 denn um des Werkes Christi willen ist er dem Tode nahe gekommen, da er sein Leben dransetzte, um mir zu dienen an eurer Statt.

Imitating Christ’s Humility
2 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit,(A) if any tenderness and compassion,(B) 2 then make my joy complete(C) by being like-minded,(D) having the same love, being one(E) in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.(F) Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,(G) 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.(H)
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:(I)
6 Who, being in very nature[a] God,(J)
did not consider equality with God(K) something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing(L)
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,(M)
being made in human likeness.(N)
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death(O)—
even death on a cross!(P)
9 Therefore God exalted him(Q) to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,(R)
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,(S)
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,(T)
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,(U)
to the glory of God the Father.
Do Everything Without Grumbling
12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,(V) 13 for it is God who works in you(W) to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.(X)
14 Do everything without grumbling(Y) or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless(Z) and pure, “children of God(AA) without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”[c](AB) Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ(AC) that I did not run(AD) or labor in vain.(AE) 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering(AF) on the sacrifice(AG) and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.(AH) 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.
Timothy and Epaphroditus
19 I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy(AI) to you soon,(AJ) that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you. 20 I have no one else like him,(AK) who will show genuine concern for your welfare. 21 For everyone looks out for their own interests,(AL) not those of Jesus Christ. 22 But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father(AM) he has served with me in the work of the gospel. 23 I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me.(AN) 24 And I am confident(AO) in the Lord that I myself will come soon.
25 But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, co-worker(AP) and fellow soldier,(AQ) who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs.(AR) 26 For he longs for all of you(AS) and is distressed because you heard he was ill. 27 Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow. 28 Therefore I am all the more eager to send him,(AT) so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety. 29 So then, welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him,(AU) 30 because he almost died for the work of Christ. He risked his life to make up for the help you yourselves could not give me.(AV)

20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
23 Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.
24 But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
25 Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:
30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
