Mulţumire şi rugăciune
4 Îi mulţumesc Dumnezeului meu ori de câte ori îmi aduc aminte de tine în rugăciunile mele, 5 pentru că am auzit de credinţa ta în Domnul Isus şi de dragostea pe care o ai faţă de toţi sfinţii. 6 Mă rog ca această părtăşie a ta la credinţă să fie eficace, astfel încât să ai cunoştinţă de tot binele care se face între noi în Cristos. 7 Am avut o mare bucurie şi încurajare datorită dragostei tale, pentru că simţămintele sfinţilor au fost înviorate prin tine, frate.
Cererea lui Pavel referitoare la Onesimus
8 De aceea, cu toate că am toată libertatea în Cristos să-ţi poruncesc ce ar fi potrivit să faci, 9 totuşi vreau să-ţi fac o rugăminte în numele dragostei, eu, Pavel, un bătrân, şi acum şi un prizonier de dragul lui Cristos Isus: 10 te rog pentru copilul meu, Onesimus[a], pe care l-am născut în timp ce eram în lanţuri. 11 Cândva, el ţi-a fost nefolositor, dar acum îţi este folositor atât ţie, cât şi mie. 12 Ţi-l trimit înapoi, pe el, inima mea. 13 Aş fi dorit să-l ţin lângă mine, ca să-mi slujească în locul tău, cât timp sunt în lanţuri pentru Evanghelie[b], 14 dar nu am vrut să fac nimic fără consimţământul tău, pentru ca binele pe care-l faci să nu fie din obligaţie, ci un lucru făcut de bunăvoie. 15 Poate că el a fost despărţit de tine pentru un timp tocmai ca să-l ai înapoi pe vecie, 16 dar nu ca pe un sclav, ci mai presus de un sclav, ca pe un frate preaiubit, mai ales de mine şi cu atât mai mult de tine, atât în chip firesc, cât şi în Domnul.
17 Aşadar, dacă mă consideri prieten, primeşte-l ca pe mine însumi! 18 Iar dacă ţi-a făcut ceva rău sau îţi datorează ceva, pune aceasta în socoteala mea. 19 Eu, Pavel, scriu aceasta cu mâna mea: eu îţi voi plăti înapoi – ca să nu zic că tu însuţi mi te datorezi mie. 20 Da, frate, vreau să am un câştig de la tine în Domnul; înviorează-mi simţămintele în Cristos!
21 Îţi scriu fiind convins de ascultarea ta, ştiind că vei face chiar mai mult decât îţi spun. 22 Totodată, pregăteşte-mi un loc de găzduire, pentru că sper ca, prin rugăciunile voastre, să vă fiu dat înapoi.
23 Epafras, prizonier împreună cu mine de dragul lui Cristos Isus, te salută 24 şi, de asemenea, şi Marcu, Aristarhus, Demas şi Luca, conlucrători cu mine. 25 Harul Domnului Isus Cristos să fie cu duhul vostru!

El amor y la fe de Filemón
4 Doy gracias a mi Dios siempre, haciendo mención de ti en mis oraciones(K), 5 porque(L) oigo de tu amor y de la fe que tienes hacia el Señor Jesús y hacia todos los santos. 6 Ruego que la comunión de tu fe llegue a ser eficaz por el conocimiento(M) de todo lo bueno que hay en ustedes[a] mediante Cristo[b]. 7 Pues he llegado a tener mucho gozo(N) y consuelo en tu amor, porque los corazones[c] de los santos han sido confortados[d](O) por ti, hermano.
Pablo intercede por Onésimo
8 Por lo cual, aunque tengo mucha libertad en Cristo para mandarte(P) hacer lo que conviene(Q), 9 no obstante, por causa del amor que te tengo, te hago un ruego(R), siendo como soy, Pablo, anciano[e](S), y ahora también prisionero(T) de Cristo Jesús(U): 10 te ruego(V) por mi hijo(W) Onésimo[f](X), a quien he engendrado en mis prisiones[g]; 11 quien en otro tiempo te era inútil, pero ahora nos es útil a ti y a mí. 12 Y te lo he vuelto a enviar en persona, es decir, como si fuera mi propio corazón[h].
13 Hubiera querido retenerlo conmigo, para que me sirviera en lugar tuyo en mis prisiones[i](Y) por el evangelio. 14 Pero no quise hacer nada sin tu consentimiento, para que tu bondad no fuera como por obligación, sino por tu propia voluntad(Z). 15 Porque quizá por esto se apartó[j](AA) de ti por algún tiempo, para que lo volvieras a recibir para siempre, 16 ya no como esclavo(AB), sino como más que un esclavo, como un hermano amado(AC), especialmente para mí, pero cuánto más para ti, tanto en la carne como en el Señor(AD).
17 Si me tienes, pues, por compañero(AE), acéptalo como me aceptarías a mí. 18 Y si te ha perjudicado en alguna forma, o te debe algo, cárgalo a mi cuenta.
19 Yo, Pablo, escribo esto con mi propia mano(AF). Yo lo pagaré (por no decirte que aun tú mismo te me debes a mí(AG)). 20 Sí, hermano, permíteme disfrutar este beneficio de ti en el Señor. Recrea[k](AH) mi corazón[l] en Cristo.
21 Te escribo confiado en tu obediencia(AI), sabiendo que harás aún más de lo que digo. 22 Y al mismo tiempo, prepárame también alojamiento(AJ), pues espero(AK) que por las oraciones de ustedes(AL) les seré concedido(AM).

1 Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,
2 And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:
3 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,
5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
7 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
8 Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,
9 Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
10 I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
11 Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:
12 Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:
13 Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:
14 But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;
16 Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?
17 If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.
18 If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;
19 I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.
20 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.
21 Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
22 But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
23 There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;
24 Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.
