Ang Pulong Sa Dios
Nakigminyo ang mga Israelinhon sa mga Dili Israelinhon
9 Miingon pa si Ezra, Pagkahuman niini nga hitabo, miadto kanako ang mga pangulo sa mga Judio ug miingon, “Daghan sa katawhan sa Israel, apil na mga pari ug mga Levita, ang nagkinabuhi sama sa mga katawhan sa ilang palibot. Gihimo nila ang mga malaw-ay nga mga buluhaton sa mga Canaanhon, Hitihanon, Perisihanon, Jebusihanon, Amonihanon, Moabihanon, Ehiptohanon, ug Amorihanon. 2 Sila ug ang ilang mga anak nangasawa pa gani sa mga babaye nga gikan niini nga mga katawhan. Busa ang katawhan nga pinili sa Dios nasagolan na sa ubang mga katawhan. Ug ang atong mga pangulo ug mga opisyal mao pa ang unang naghimo niini.”
3 Sa dihang nadungog ko kini, gigisi ko ang akong bisti ug kupo, gilabnot ko ang akong buhok ug balbas, ug milingkod ako nga gikulbaan. 4 Nagtigom didto kanako ang mga tawo nga may kahadlok sa pulong sa Dios sa Israel tungod sa pagluib sa ilang isigka-Israelinhon nga namalik gikan sa pagkabihag. Naglingkod ako didto nga gikulbaan, hangtod nga miabot ang oras sa paghalad sa gabii. 5 Pag-abot niadtong orasa, miundang ako sa akong pagsubo. Miluhod ako, nga gisi ang akong bisti ug kupo, ug nagaampo nga nagabayaw sa akong mga kamot sa Ginoo nga akong Dios. 6 Miingon ako, “Dios ko, naulaw ako pag-ayo. Dili ako makaatubang kanimo sa kaulaw tungod kay labihan na gayod ang among mga sala; daw molapaw na kini sa among mga ulo ug mosangko na sa langit. 7 Sukad pa sa panahon sa among mga katigulangan, nagpakasala na kami sa hilabihan. Tungod niini, kami, ang among mga hari, ug mga pari kanunayng nailalom sa mga hari sa ubang nasod. Gipamatay nila ang uban kanamo, ug ang uban gibihag, gikawatan ug gipakaulawan, sama sa nahitabo kanamo karon.
8 “Ug karon, niining hamubo nga panahon, gikaloy-an mo kami, Ginoo nga among Dios. Gitugotan mo nga may mahibilin kanamo, ug gipapuyo mo kami nga may kasigurohan niining dapit nga imong gigahin. Gihatagan mo kami ug paglaom ug gipagaan-gaanan mo ang among kahimtang sa pagkaulipon. 9 Bisan mga ulipon kami, wala mo kami pasagdi sa among pagkaulipon, hinuon gipakita mo ang imong gugma kanamo pinaagi sa maayo nga pagtagad nga gipakita sa mga hari sa Persia kanamo. Gihimo mo kini aron mahatagan mo kami ug bag-o nga kinabuhi, ug aron matukod namo pag-usab ang imong templo nga naguba ug mahatagan mo kami ug proteksyon sa Juda ug sa Jerusalem.
10 “Apan karon nga nakasala kami, O Dios, unsa pa may among ikasulti? Kay gisalikway man namo ang imong mga sugo 11 nga gihatag mo kanamo pinaagi sa imong mga alagad nga mga propeta. Miingon sila kanamo nga ang dapit nga among adtoan aron panag-iyahan hugaw nga dapit tungod sa kadaotan sa mga lumulupyo niini. Gihugawan nila ang tibuok kayutaan pinaagi sa ilang mga law-ay nga binuhatan. 12 Nagaingon usab ang mga propeta kanamo nga dili gayod namo tugotan nga maminyo ang among mga anak sa ilang mga anak; ug dili gayod namo sila tabangan nga mouswag, aron kami molig-on ug makapahimulos sa maayong abot sa yuta, ug ikabilin namo kini sa among mga kaliwat ingon nga panulondon hangtod sa kahangtoran. 13 Gisilotan mo kami, O among Dios, tungod sa among mga sala. Apan gaan ra ang silot nga gipahamtang mo kanamo kon itandi sa sala nga among nahimo, ug gitugotan mo pa nga may mahibiling buhi kanamo. 14 Apan bisan pa niini, gisupak namo pag-usab ang imong mga sugo, ug nakigminyo sa mga tawo nga law-ay ug binuhatan. Sigurado gayod nga masuko ka kanamo ug laglagon mo kami hangtod nga wala nay mahibilin kanamo. 15 O Ginoo, Dios sa Israel, matarong ka! Kay gitugotan mo nga may mahibilin kanamo nga buhi hangtod karon. Nakasala kami, ug tungod niini, dili kami makabarog sa imong atubangan tungod niining among mga sala.”

Ezra’s Prayer About Intermarriage
9 After these things had been done, the leaders came to me and said, “The people of Israel, including the priests and the Levites, have not kept themselves separate(A) from the neighboring peoples with their detestable practices, like those of the Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites,(B) Ammonites,(C) Moabites,(D) Egyptians and Amorites.(E) 2 They have taken some of their daughters(F) as wives for themselves and their sons, and have mingled(G) the holy race(H) with the peoples around them. And the leaders and officials have led the way in this unfaithfulness.”(I)
3 When I heard this, I tore(J) my tunic and cloak, pulled hair from my head and beard and sat down appalled.(K) 4 Then everyone who trembled(L) at the words of the God of Israel gathered around me because of this unfaithfulness of the exiles. And I sat there appalled(M) until the evening sacrifice.
5 Then, at the evening sacrifice,(N) I rose from my self-abasement, with my tunic and cloak torn, and fell on my knees with my hands(O) spread out to the Lord my God 6 and prayed:
“I am too ashamed(P) and disgraced, my God, to lift up my face to you, because our sins are higher than our heads and our guilt has reached to the heavens.(Q) 7 From the days of our ancestors(R) until now, our guilt has been great. Because of our sins, we and our kings and our priests have been subjected to the sword(S) and captivity,(T) to pillage and humiliation(U) at the hand of foreign kings, as it is today.
8 “But now, for a brief moment, the Lord our God has been gracious(V) in leaving us a remnant(W) and giving us a firm place[a](X) in his sanctuary, and so our God gives light to our eyes(Y) and a little relief in our bondage. 9 Though we are slaves,(Z) our God has not forsaken us in our bondage. He has shown us kindness(AA) in the sight of the kings of Persia: He has granted us new life to rebuild the house of our God and repair its ruins,(AB) and he has given us a wall of protection in Judah and Jerusalem.
10 “But now, our God, what can we say after this? For we have forsaken the commands(AC) 11 you gave through your servants the prophets when you said: ‘The land you are entering(AD) to possess is a land polluted(AE) by the corruption of its peoples. By their detestable practices(AF) they have filled it with their impurity from one end to the other. 12 Therefore, do not give your daughters in marriage to their sons or take their daughters for your sons. Do not seek a treaty of friendship with them(AG) at any time, that you may be strong(AH) and eat the good things(AI) of the land and leave it to your children as an everlasting inheritance.’(AJ)
13 “What has happened to us is a result of our evil(AK) deeds and our great guilt, and yet, our God, you have punished us less than our sins deserved(AL) and have given us a remnant like this. 14 Shall we then break your commands again and intermarry(AM) with the peoples who commit such detestable practices? Would you not be angry enough with us to destroy us,(AN) leaving us no remnant(AO) or survivor? 15 Lord, the God of Israel, you are righteous!(AP) We are left this day as a remnant. Here we are before you in our guilt, though because of it not one of us can stand(AQ) in your presence.(AR)”

9 Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.
3 And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.
4 Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice.
5 And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the Lord my God,
6 And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.
7 Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
8 And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
9 For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
10 And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,
11 Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.
12 Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.
13 And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;
14 Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?
15 O Lord God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.
