⁶ saying:

“O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift my face to you, my God, for our iniquities ^(A)have risen higher than our heads, and our ^(B)guilt has ^(C)mounted up to the heavens.

⁹ But a prophet of the Lord was there, whose name was Oded, and he went out to meet the army that came to Samaria and said to them, “Behold, because the Lord, the God of your fathers, ^(A)was angry with Judah, he gave them into your hand, but you have killed them in a rage ^(B)that has reached up to heaven.

²¹ And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. ^(A)I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’^[a]

²⁴ “But from our youth the shameful thing has devoured all for which our fathers labored, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. ^25 (A)Let us lie down in our shame, and let our dishonor cover us. For ^(B)we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.”

¹⁵ O Lord, the God of Israel, you are just, for we are left a ^(A)remnant that has escaped, as it is today. Behold, we are before you in our ^(B)guilt, ^(C)for none can stand before you because of this.”

^21 (A)But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things ^(B)of which you are now ashamed? ^(C)For the end of those things is death.
