¹⁷ For the dedication of this house of God they offered^(A) a hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred male lambs and, as a sin offering^[a] for all Israel, twelve male goats, one for each of the tribes of Israel.

³⁵ Then the exiles who had returned from captivity sacrificed burnt offerings to the God of Israel: twelve bulls^(A) for all Israel,^(B) ninety-six rams, seventy-seven male lambs and, as a sin offering,^[a] twelve male goats.^(C) All this was a burnt offering to the Lord.

⁴ Then I heard the number^(A) of those who were sealed: 144,000^(B) from all the tribes of Israel.

³¹ Then Hezekiah said, “You have now dedicated yourselves to the Lord. Come and bring sacrifices^(A) and thank offerings to the temple of the Lord.” So the assembly brought sacrifices and thank offerings, and all whose hearts were willing^(B) brought burnt offerings.

³² The number of burnt offerings^(C) the assembly brought was seventy bulls, a hundred rams and two hundred male lambs—all of them for burnt offerings to the Lord. ³³ The animals consecrated as sacrifices amounted to six hundred bulls and three thousand sheep and goats. ³⁴ The priests, however, were too few to skin all the burnt offerings;^(D) so their relatives the Levites helped them until the task was finished and until other priests had been consecrated,^(E) for the Levites had been more conscientious in consecrating themselves than the priests had been. ³⁵ There were burnt offerings in abundance, together with the fat^(F) of the fellowship offerings^(G) and the drink offerings^(H) that accompanied the burnt offerings.

So the service of the temple of the Lord was reestablished.

²¹ They brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven male lambs and seven male goats^(A) as a sin offering^[a](B) for the kingdom, for the sanctuary and for Judah. The king commanded the priests, the descendants of Aaron, to offer these on the altar of the Lord. ²² So they slaughtered the bulls, and the priests took the blood and splashed it against the altar; next they slaughtered the rams and splashed their blood against the altar; then they slaughtered the lambs and splashed their blood^(C) against the altar. ²³ The goats^(D) for the sin offering were brought before the king and the assembly, and they laid their hands^(E) on them.

⁵ And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand head of cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats. So the king and all the people dedicated the temple of God.

Ministering Before the Ark^(A)(B)(C)

16 They brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched^(D) for it, and they presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God. ² After David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed^(E) the people in the name of the Lord. ³ Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins^(F) to each Israelite man and woman.

³¹ Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Your name shall be Israel.”^(A)

⁶³ Solomon offered a sacrifice of fellowship offerings to the Lord: twenty-two thousand cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats. So the king and all the Israelites dedicated^(A) the temple of the Lord.

⁶⁴ On that same day the king consecrated the middle part of the courtyard in front of the temple of the Lord, and there he offered burnt offerings, grain offerings and the fat^(B) of the fellowship offerings, because the bronze altar^(C) that stood before the Lord was too small to hold the burnt offerings, the grain offerings and the fat of the fellowship offerings.^(D)
