⁵⁸ All the ^(A)Nethinim and the children of ^(B)Solomon’s servants were three hundred and ninety-two.

^2 (A)And the first inhabitants who dwelt in their possessions in their cities were Israelites, priests, Levites, and ^(B)the Nethinim.

²¹ that is, their descendants ^(A)who were left in the land after them, ^(B)whom the children of Israel had not been able to destroy completely—^(C)from these Solomon raised ^(D)forced labor, as it is to this day.

²⁷ And that day Joshua made them ^(A)woodcutters and water carriers for the congregation and for the altar of the Lord, ^(B)in the place which He would choose, even to this day.

²³ Now therefore, you are ^(A)cursed, and none of you shall be freed from being slaves—woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”

²¹ And the rulers said to them, “Let them live, but let them be ^(A)woodcutters and water carriers for all the congregation, as the rulers had ^(B)promised them.”

²⁶ Moreover ^(A)the Nethinim who dwelt in ^(B)Ophel made repairs as far as the place in front of ^(C)the Water Gate toward the east, and on the projecting tower.

^7 (A)Some of the children of Israel, the priests, ^(B)the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and ^(C)the Nethinim came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.
