The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of [a]Aaron, the chief Priest.

This Ezra came up from Babel, and was a [b]Scribe, prompt in the Law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given, and the king gave him all his request according to the hand of the Lord his God, which was upon him.

And there went up certain of the children of Israel, and of the Priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of king Artaxerxes.

He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given. The king had granted(C) him everything he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was on him.(D) Some of the Israelites, including priests, Levites, musicians, gatekeepers and temple servants, also came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.(E)
