The Proclamation of Cyrus

1 ^(A)Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia—in order to complete the word of ^[a]Yahweh from the mouth of Jeremiah—Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he ^(B)had a proclamation pass throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying:

¹⁰ “For thus says Yahweh, ‘When ^(A)seventy years have been fulfilled for Babylon, I will ^[a]visit you and establish My ^(B)good word to you, to return you to this place.

² in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, discerned in the books the ^(A)number of the years concerning which the word of ^[a]Yahweh came to ^(B)Jeremiah the prophet for the fulfillment of the laying waste of Jerusalem, namely, ^(C)seventy years.
