Dios Habla Hoy
5 El Señor me dijo: «Ahora, hombre, toma un cuchillo afilado como navaja de afeitar, y rápate la cabeza y la barba. Toma luego una balanza, y divide tu pelo en tres partes. 2 Cuando termine el ataque a la ciudad, quema una de las tres partes del pelo en medio de la ciudad; toma después un cuchillo, y corta otra de esas tres partes de pelo alrededor de la ciudad, y la parte restante lánzala al viento. Yo iré detrás de la gente de la ciudad, con una espada en la mano. 3 Toma unos cuantos de aquellos pelos, y átalos en el borde de tu vestido. 4 Toma luego unos pocos de ellos, y échalos al fuego para que se quemen. De allí saldrá fuego contra todo el pueblo de Israel.
5 »Yo, el Señor, lo digo: Ahí está Jerusalén. Yo fui quien la puso en medio de los pueblos y naciones. 6 Pero ella se rebeló contra mis leyes y mandatos, y ha resultado peor que los pueblos y naciones a su alrededor, pues no obedece mis leyes ni sigue mis mandatos.
7 »Por eso yo, el Señor, lo digo: Ustedes han sido más rebeldes que los pueblos que los rodean, y no han seguido mis mandatos; ni siquiera han cumplido las leyes de los pueblos que los rodean. 8 Por eso yo, el Señor, lo digo: Yo también me voy a poner contra ti, Jerusalén; voy a ejecutar la sentencia contra ti a la vista de las naciones, 9 como nunca lo había hecho ni volveré a hacerlo. Tan detestables son todas tus acciones. 10 Dentro de ti habrá padres que se coman a sus hijos, e hijos que se coman a sus padres. Ejecutaré la sentencia contra ti, y a los que sobrevivan los dispersaré a los cuatro vientos. 11 Yo, el Señor, lo juro por mi vida: como ustedes han profanado mi santo templo con sus ídolos inmundos y sus acciones detestables, también yo los voy a destrozar sin misericordia; no tendré compasión de ustedes. 12 Una tercera parte de tus habitantes morirá de peste y de hambre dentro de ti, otra tercera parte caerá asesinada por los enemigos en los alrededores, y a la tercera parte restante la dispersaré a los cuatro vientos. Yo iré detrás de ellos con una espada en la mano. 13 Entonces descargaré mi furor; haré que mi ira contra ellos quede satisfecha, y me calmaré. Y cuando haya descargado mi ira contra ellos, sabrán que yo, el Señor, fui quien lo dijo en el ardor de mis celos. 14 Yo te convertiré en un montón de ruinas, Jerusalén; te humillaré en medio de los pueblos que te rodean, para que lo vean todos los que pasen. 15 Cuando yo ejecute con ira y furor la sentencia contra ti, y te castigue duramente, todos te insultarán y te ofenderán, y servirás de escarmiento terrible para los pueblos que te rodean. Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho. 16 Yo haré que venga el hambre sobre ustedes, como terribles flechas destructoras. Sí, haré que vengan sobre ustedes la destrucción y el hambre y la escasez de alimentos. 17 Sí, haré venir sobre ustedes hambre, enfermedad y muerte, y animales feroces que los dejarán sin hijos; y haré que muchos de ustedes mueran en la guerra. Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho.»

Jerusalem Will Be Destroyed
5 “And you, (A)O son of man, take a (B)sharp sword. Use it as (C)a barber's razor and (D)pass it over your head and your beard. Then take balances for weighing and divide the hair. 2 (E)A third part you shall burn in the fire (F)in the midst of the city, (G)when the days of the siege are completed. And a third part you shall take and strike with the sword all around the city. (H)And a third part you shall scatter to the wind, and (I)I will unsheathe the sword after them. 3 (J)And you shall take from these a small number and bind them in the skirts of your robe. 4 (K)And of these again you shall take some and cast them into the midst of the fire and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will come out into all the house of Israel.
5 “Thus says the Lord God: (L)This is Jerusalem. I have set her (M)in the center of the nations, with countries all around her. 6 And she has rebelled against my rules by doing wickedness (N)more than the nations, and against my statutes more than (O)the countries all around her; for they have rejected my rules and have not walked in my statutes. 7 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you are (P)more turbulent than the nations that are all around you, (Q)and have not walked in my statutes or obeyed my rules, (R)and have not[a] even acted according to the rules of the nations that are all around you, 8 therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, even I, (S)am against you. (T)And I will execute judgments[b] in your midst (U)in the sight of the nations. 9 And because of all your abominations I will do with you (V)what I have never yet done, and the like of which I will never do again. 10 Therefore (W)fathers shall eat their sons in your midst, and sons shall eat their fathers. (X)And I will execute judgments on you, (Y)and any of you who survive I will scatter to all the winds. 11 Therefore, (Z)as I live, declares the Lord God, surely, (AA)because you have defiled my sanctuary (AB)with all your detestable things and with all your (AC)abominations, (AD)therefore I will withdraw.[c] (AE)My eye will not spare, and I will have no pity. 12 (AF)A third part of you shall die of pestilence and be consumed with famine in your midst; (AG)a third part shall fall by the sword all around you; (AH)and a third part I will scatter to all the winds and will unsheathe the sword after them.
13 (AI)“Thus shall my anger spend itself, and I will vent my fury upon them and satisfy myself. And they shall know that (AJ)I am the Lord—that I have spoken in my jealousy—(AK)when I spend my fury upon them. 14 Moreover, I will make you (AL)a desolation and (AM)an object of reproach among (AN)the nations all around you and in the sight of all who pass by. 15 You shall be[d] a reproach and a taunt, a warning (AO)and a horror, to (AP)the nations all around you, (AQ)when I execute judgments on you in anger and fury, and (AR)with furious rebukes—I am the Lord; I have spoken— 16 when I send against you[e] (AS)the deadly arrows of famine, arrows for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, and when I bring more and more famine upon (AT)you and break your supply[f] of bread. 17 I will send famine and (AU)wild beasts against you, (AV)and they will rob you of your children. Pestilence and (AW)blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword upon you. I am the Lord; I have spoken.”

5 »Tú, hijo de hombre, toma ahora una espada afilada, y úsala como navaja de afeitar para raparte la cabeza y afeitarte la barba. Toma luego una balanza y divide tu cabello cortado. 2 Cuando se cumplan los días del sitio, quemarás en medio de la ciudad una tercera parte del cabello; otra tercera parte la cortarás con la espada alrededor de la ciudad, y la parte restante la esparcirás al viento. Yo, por mi parte, desenvainaré la espada y perseguiré a sus habitantes. 3 Toma algunos de los cabellos y átalos al borde de tu manto. 4 Luego toma otros pocos y arrójalos en el fuego para que se quemen. Desde allí se extenderá el fuego sobre todo el pueblo de Israel.
5 »Así dice el Señor omnipotente: Esta es la ciudad de Jerusalén. Yo la coloqué en medio de las naciones y de los territorios a su alrededor. 6 Pero ella se rebeló contra mis leyes y decretos, con una perversidad mayor que la de las naciones y territorios vecinos. En otras palabras, rechazó por completo mis leyes y decretos.
7 »Por eso yo, el Señor omnipotente, declaro: Vosotros habéis sido más rebeldes que las naciones de vuestro alrededor; no habéis seguido mis decretos ni obedecido mis leyes, y ni siquiera os habéis sujetado a las costumbres de esas naciones. 8 Por lo tanto yo, el Señor omnipotente, declaro: Estoy contra ti, Jerusalén, y te voy a castigar a la vista de todas las naciones. 9 Por causa de tus prácticas detestables, haré contigo lo que jamás he hecho ni volveré a hacer. 10 Entre vosotros habrá padres que se comerán a sus hijos, y también hijos que se comerán a sus padres. Yo los castigaré, y a quien sobreviva lo dispersaré por los cuatro vientos.
11 »Por esta razón yo, el Señor omnipotente, juro por mí mismo: Como vosotros habéis profanado mi santuario con vuestros ídolos repugnantes y con prácticas detestables, yo os destruiré sin misericordia y sin piedad. 12 Una tercera parte de tu pueblo morirá en tus calles por la peste y por el hambre; otra tercera parte caerá a filo de espada en tus alrededores, y a la tercera parte restante la dispersaré por los cuatro vientos. Yo desenvainaré la espada y perseguiré a la gente. 13 Entonces se apaciguará mi ira, mi enojo contra ellos será saciado, y me daré por satisfecho. Y, cuando en mi celo haya desahogado mi enojo contra ellos, sabrán que yo, el Señor, lo he dicho.
14 »Yo te convertiré en un montón de ruinas; te haré objeto de burla de todas las naciones que te rodean. Todos los que pasen junto a ti lo verán. 15 Cuando yo te castigue con indignación, enojo y durísimos reproches, serás objeto de burla y de oprobio, y motivo de advertencia y escarmiento para las naciones que te rodean. Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho.
16 »Yo te haré blanco del hambre, esa mortífera flecha que todo lo destruye. Dispararé a matar, pues traeré sobre ti hambre y escasez de provisiones. 17 Por si fuera poco, lanzaré contra ti animales salvajes que te dejarán sin hijos. Te verás abrumado por las plagas y por el derramamiento de sangre, pues haré que caigas a filo de espada. Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho».
