48 »Ésta es la lista de las tribus:

»Partiendo de la frontera norte, que va desde el Mediterráneo y pasa por Hetlón, la entrada de Hamat y Hasar-enán, al sur de los territorios de Damasco y Hamat, cada tribu recibirá una porción de territorio desde la frontera oriental hasta la occidental, en este orden:

8 »En seguida vendrá el territorio que deberán reservar, y que se extiende también de oriente a occidente. De ancho medirá doce kilómetros y medio, y de largo medirá lo mismo que miden los otros territorios de oriente a occidente. En medio de él estará el templo.

El territorio consagrado al Señor(A)

9 »La porción consagrada al Señor dentro de este territorio tendrá doce kilómetros y medio de largo por diez de ancho. 10 Dentro de esta porción habrá un terreno consagrado exclusivamente a los sacerdotes; por el norte y por el sur medirá doce kilómetros y medio, y por el este y el oeste, cinco kilómetros. En medio estará el templo del Señor. 11 Este terreno estará reservado a los sacerdotes consagrados al Señor, descendientes de Sadoc, que se encargaron de mi servicio y no siguieron a los demás israelitas cuando éstos se apartaron de mis caminos, como lo hicieron los levitas. 12 Por eso, dentro de la porción consagrada al Señor, junto al terreno de los levitas, los sacerdotes tendrán un terreno, que será la porción más sagrada. 13 Junto al terreno de los sacerdotes, los levitas tendrán el suyo, el cual medirá doce kilómetros y medio de largo por cinco de ancho. La parte consagrada al Señor tendrá, pues, en total doce kilómetros y medio de largo por diez de ancho. 14 Ésta será la mejor porción del país. Ninguna parte de ella se podrá vender o cambiar o pasar a otra persona, pues está consagrada al Señor.

15 »La porción restante, de doce kilómetros y medio de largo por dos y medio de ancho, no es sagrada. Allí podrá vivir la gente y allí estarán los pastizales para el ganado. En medio estará la ciudad, 16 que ocupará un cuadrado de dos mil doscientos cincuenta metros por lado. 17 Alrededor de la ciudad estarán los pastizales, los cuales tendrán ciento veinticinco metros de ancho en las cuatro direcciones. 18 A los lados de la ciudad queda un terreno junto a la porción consagrada al Señor, que tiene cinco kilómetros de largo por el oriente y otro tanto por el occidente. Este terreno se cultivará, y sus productos servirán para alimentar a la gente que trabaja en la ciudad. 19 Los que trabajen en la ciudad, cualquiera que sea la tribu israelita a que pertenezcan, cultivarán ese terreno. 20 Todo el terreno así reservado, formado por la porción consagrada al Señor más lo que pertenece a la ciudad, formará un cuadrado de doce kilómetros y medio por lado.

El territorio para el gobernante(B)

21-22 »Al gobernante le tocará el resto de la franja de territorio que queda entre los territorios de Judá y de Benjamín; es decir, los terrenos situados a uno y otro lado de la porción reservada al Señor y del terreno de la ciudad. Medirá doce kilómetros y medio de ancho, y se extenderá por el oriente hasta la frontera oriental, y por el occidente hasta el mar. En el centro quedarán la porción reservada al Señor, con el templo, más la porción de los levitas y el terreno de la ciudad.

El territorio de las otras tribus

23-27 »El territorio de las otras tribus sigue hacia el sur. Cada tribu recibirá una porción de territorio desde la frontera oriental hasta la occidental, en este orden:

28 »Al sur del territorio de Gad, la frontera irá desde Tamar, pasando por el oasis de Meribá-cadés y el arroyo de Egipto, hasta el mar Mediterráneo.

29 »Éste es el país que recibirán como herencia las tribus de Israel, y de esa manera deberán ustedes repartirlo. Yo, el Señor, lo ordeno.

Las puertas de Jerusalén

30-34 »La ciudad estará rodeada de una muralla, que medirá dos mil doscientos cincuenta metros por cada uno de sus cuatro lados. En cada lado de la muralla habrá tres puertas, cada una dedicada a una de las tribus de Israel, en este orden: Las puertas del norte: a Rubén, Judá y Leví; las del oriente: a José, Benjamín y Dan; las del sur: a Simeón, Isacar y Zabulón; las de occidente: a Gad, Aser y Neftalí. 35 La muralla medirá en total nueve mil metros de largo, y el nombre de la ciudad será en adelante: “El Señor está aquí”.»

The Tribal Portions

48 “These are the names of the tribes: From the northern end beside the road of Hethlon to Lebo Hamath, as far as Hazar Enan (which is on the border of Damascus, toward the north beside Hamath), extending from the east side to the west, Dan will have one portion. 2 Next to the border of Dan, from the east side to the west side, Asher[a] will have one portion. 3 Next to the border of Asher from the east side to the west side, Naphtali will have one portion. 4 Next to the border of Naphtali from the east side to the west side, Manasseh will have one portion. 5 Next to the border of Manasseh from the east side to the west side, Ephraim will have one portion. 6 Next to the border of Ephraim from the east side to the west side, Reuben will have one portion. 7 Next to the border of Reuben from the east side to the west side, Judah[b] will have one portion.

8 “Next to the border of Judah from the east side to the west side will be the allotment you must set apart. It is to be 8¼ miles[c] wide, and the same length as one of the tribal portions, from the east side to the west side; the sanctuary will be in the middle of it. 9 The allotment you set apart to the Lord will be 8¼ miles[d] in length and 3⅓ miles[e] in width. 10 These will be the allotments for the holy portion: for the priests, toward the north 8¼ miles[f] in length, toward the west 3⅓ miles[g] in width, toward the east 3⅓ miles[h] in width, and toward the south 8¼ miles[i] in length; the sanctuary of the Lord will be in the middle. 11 This will be for the priests who are set apart from the descendants of Zadok who kept my charge and did not go astray when the people of Israel strayed off, as the Levites did.[j] 12 It will be their portion from the allotment of the land, a Most Holy Place, next to the border of the Levites.

13 “Alongside the border of the priests, the Levites will have an allotment 8¼ miles[k] in length and 3⅓ miles[l] in width. The whole length will be 8¼ miles[m] and the width 3⅓ miles.[n] 14 They must not sell or exchange any of it; they must not transfer this choice portion of land, for it is set apart[o] to the Lord.

15 “The remainder, 1⅔ miles[p] in width and 8¼ miles[q] in length, will be for common use by the city, for houses and for open space. The city will be in the middle of it; 16 these will be its measurements: The north side will be 1½ miles,[r] the south side 1½ miles, the east side 1½ miles, and the west side 1½ miles. 17 The city will have open spaces: On the north there will be 437½ feet,[s] on the south 437½ feet, on the east 437½ feet, and on the west 437½ feet. 18 The remainder of the length alongside the holy allotment will be 3⅓ miles[t] to the east and 3⅓ miles toward the west, and it will be beside the holy allotment. Its produce will be for food for the workers of the city. 19 The workers of the city from all the tribes of Israel will cultivate it. 20 The whole allotment will be 8¼ miles[u] square; you must set apart the holy allotment with the possession of the city.

21 “The rest, on both sides of the holy allotment and the property of the city, will belong to the prince. Extending from the 8¼ miles[v] of the holy allotment to the east border, and westward from the 8¼ miles[w] to the west border, alongside the portions, it will belong to the prince. The holy allotment and the sanctuary of the temple will be in the middle of it. 22 The property of the Levites and of the city will be in the middle of that which belongs to the prince. The portion between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin will be for the prince.

23 “As for the rest of the tribes: From the east side to the west side, Benjamin will have one portion. 24 Next to the border of Benjamin, from the east side to the west side, Simeon will have one portion. 25 Next to the border of Simeon, from the east side to the west side, Issachar will have one portion. 26 Next to the border of Issachar, from the east side to the west side, Zebulun will have one portion. 27 Next to the border of Zebulun, from the east side to the west side, Gad will have one portion. 28 Next to the border of Gad, at the south side, the border will run from Tamar to the waters of Meribah Kadesh, to the Stream of Egypt,[x] and on to the Great Sea. 29 This is the land that you will allot to the tribes of Israel, and these are their portions, declares the Sovereign Lord.

30 “These are the exits of the city: On the north side, 1½ miles[y] by measure, 31 the gates of the city[z] will be named for the tribes of Israel. There will be three gates to the north: one gate for Reuben, one gate for Judah, and one gate for Levi. 32 On the east side, 1½ miles in length, there will be three gates: one gate for Joseph, one gate for Benjamin, and one gate for Dan. 33 On the south side, 1½ miles by measure, there will be three gates: one gate for Simeon, one gate for Issachar, and one gate for Zebulun. 34 On the west side, 1½ miles in length, there will be three gates: one gate for Gad, one gate for Asher, and one gate for Naphtali. 35 The circumference of the city will be 6 miles.[aa] The name of the city from that day forward will be: ‘The Lord Is There.’”[ab]

48 Now these are the names of the tribes. From the north end to the coast of the way of Hethlon, as one goeth to Hamath, Hazarenan, the border of Damascus northward, to the coast of Hamath; for these are his sides east and west; a portion for Dan.

2 And by the border of Dan, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Asher.

3 And by the border of Asher, from the east side even unto the west side, a portion for Naphtali.

4 And by the border of Naphtali, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Manasseh.

5 And by the border of Manasseh, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Ephraim.

6 And by the border of Ephraim, from the east side even unto the west side, a portion for Reuben.

7 And by the border of Reuben, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Judah.

8 And by the border of Judah, from the east side unto the west side, shall be the offering which ye shall offer of five and twenty thousand reeds in breadth, and in length as one of the other parts, from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.

9 The oblation that ye shall offer unto the Lord shall be of five and twenty thousand in length, and of ten thousand in breadth.

10 And for them, even for the priests, shall be this holy oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand in length, and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of the Lord shall be in the midst thereof.

11 It shall be for the priests that are sanctified of the sons of Zadok; which have kept my charge, which went not astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.

12 And this oblation of the land that is offered shall be unto them a thing most holy by the border of the Levites.

13 And over against the border of the priests the Levites shall have five and twenty thousand in length, and ten thousand in breadth: all the length shall be five and twenty thousand, and the breadth ten thousand.

14 And they shall not sell of it, neither exchange, nor alienate the firstfruits of the land: for it is holy unto the Lord.

15 And the five thousand, that are left in the breadth over against the five and twenty thousand, shall be a profane place for the city, for dwelling, and for suburbs: and the city shall be in the midst thereof.

16 And these shall be the measures thereof; the north side four thousand and five hundred, and the south side four thousand and five hundred, and on the east side four thousand and five hundred, and the west side four thousand and five hundred.

17 And the suburbs of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty, and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.

18 And the residue in length over against the oblation of the holy portion shall be ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward: and it shall be over against the oblation of the holy portion; and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that serve the city.

19 And they that serve the city shall serve it out of all the tribes of Israel.

20 All the oblation shall be five and twenty thousand by five and twenty thousand: ye shall offer the holy oblation foursquare, with the possession of the city.

21 And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy oblation; and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.

22 Moreover from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, being in the midst of that which is the prince's, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.

23 As for the rest of the tribes, from the east side unto the west side, Benjamin shall have a portion.

24 And by the border of Benjamin, from the east side unto the west side, Simeon shall have a portion.

25 And by the border of Simeon, from the east side unto the west side, Issachar a portion.

26 And by the border of Issachar, from the east side unto the west side, Zebulun a portion.

27 And by the border of Zebulun, from the east side unto the west side, Gad a portion.

28 And by the border of Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar unto the waters of strife in Kadesh, and to the river toward the great sea.

29 This is the land which ye shall divide by lot unto the tribes of Israel for inheritance, and these are their portions, saith the Lord God.

30 And these are the goings out of the city on the north side, four thousand and five hundred measures.

31 And the gates of the city shall be after the names of the tribes of Israel: three gates northward; one gate of Reuben, one gate of Judah, one gate of Levi.

32 And at the east side four thousand and five hundred: and three gates; and one gate of Joseph, one gate of Benjamin, one gate of Dan.

33 And at the south side four thousand and five hundred measures: and three gates; one gate of Simeon, one gate of Issachar, one gate of Zebulun.

34 At the west side four thousand and five hundred, with their three gates; one gate of Gad, one gate of Asher, one gate of Naphtali.

35 It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The Lord is there.
