42 Luego me condujo fuera del templo, a través del patio interior, a las habitaciones al norte del patio del templo y a otro edificio. 2 Este grupo de estructuras tenía un largo de cincuenta y dos metros y medio con un ancho de veintiséis metros y cuarto. 3 Las hileras de habitaciones detrás de este edificio formaban el muro interior del patio. Las habitaciones estaban en tres pisos, y desde allí se veía el patio exterior por un lado, y una franja de diez metros y medio del patio interior del otro. 4 Había un corredor de cinco metros y cuarto entre el edificio y los pisos de las habitaciones, que se extendía a todo lo largo con las puertas del edificio mirando hacia el norte. 5 Los dos pisos de habitaciones de arriba no eran tan anchos como el de abajo, porque los pisos superiores tenían corredores más anchos a su lado. 6 Y ya que el edificio no estaba construido con vigas como en el patio exterior, los pisos de más arriba eran más angostos que la planta baja.

7 Los pisos del norte, próximos al patio exterior, tenían un largo de veintiséis metros y cuarto, sólo la mitad del largo del ala interior que miraba hacia el patio del templo, el cual tenía un largo de cincuenta y dos metros y medio. 8 Pero una pared se extendía desde el final del ala más corta, paralela al ala más larga. 9 Y había una entrada del patio exterior a estas habitaciones desde el este. Del lado opuesto del templo había un edificio similar compuesto de dos unidades de pisos sobre el costado sur del patio interior, 10 entre el templo y el patio exterior, arreglado de la misma manera que el otro. 11 Había un corredor entre las dos alas del edificio, de la misma manera que en el otro edificio del otro lado del patio, con el mismo largo y ancho y las mismas salidas y puertas. Eran unidades idénticas. 12 Y había una puerta desde el patio exterior en el lado este.

13 Luego él me dijo: «Estos pisos de habitaciones del norte y del sur que dan hacia el patio del templo son exclusivos; allí los sacerdotes que ofrecen los sacrificios al Señor comerán de las ofrendas más exclusivas y las almacenarán, las ofrendas de cereales, las ofrendas por el perdón de las maldades y las ofrendas por la culpabilidad general, pues estas habitaciones son exclusivas. 14 Cuando los sacerdotes salgan del Lugar Exclusivo, la nave del templo, deben cambiar sus vestiduras antes de salir al patio exterior. Primero deben quitarse las vestiduras especiales con las que han estado ministrando, pues son exclusivas. Deben colocarse otras vestimentas antes de entrar en las partes del edifico que están abiertas al pueblo».

15 Cuando terminó de tomar estas medidas, me llevó afuera a través del pasillo del este para medir toda la zona del templo. 16-20 Encontró que tenía la forma de un cuadrado, de doscientos sesenta y dos metros de largo sobre cada costado, con un muro alrededor para separar la zona restringida de los lugares públicos.

Me hizo entrar a las habitaciones que estaban hacia el norte, frente al patio cerrado y frente al edificio detrás del Templo. 2 Todo esto medía cien codos[a] de largo por el lado norte y cincuenta codos de ancho. 3 Frente a los veinte codos del atrio interior y frente al enlosado del atrio exterior, había en los tres pisos unas galerías, las cuales quedaban unas frente a las otras. 4 Frente a las habitaciones había un pasillo interior de diez codos de ancho y cien codos[b] de largo. Sus puertas daban al norte. 5 Las habitaciones del piso superior eran más estrechas que las del piso inferior y las del piso intermedio, porque las galerías quitaban más espacio a las de arriba. 6 Las habitaciones en el tercer piso no tenían columnas como las habitaciones del atrio; por eso eran más estrechas que las del piso intermedio y las del piso inferior. 7 Había un muro exterior que corría paralelo y de frente a las habitaciones del atrio exterior, el cual medía cincuenta codos de largo. 8 Las habitaciones que daban al atrio exterior medían cincuenta codos, mientras que las que estaban próximas a la nave central medían cien codos. 9 A las habitaciones del piso inferior se entraba por el atrio exterior, es decir, por el este.

10 Por el lado sur,[c] a lo largo del muro del atrio, frente al patio y frente al edificio detrás del Templo, había unas habitaciones. 11 Tenían un pasillo frente a ellas, como el de las habitaciones de la parte norte. A su vez, tenían la misma longitud, el mismo ancho, las mismas salidas, disposiciones y entradas. 12 Bajo las habitaciones que daban al sur, frente al muro que daba al este, que era por donde se podía entrar a ellas, había una entrada al comienzo de cada pasillo.

13 Después el hombre me dijo: «Las habitaciones del norte y del sur, que están frente al patio, son las habitaciones sagradas. Allí es donde los sacerdotes que se acercan al Señor comerán las ofrendas más sagradas. Allí colocarán las ofrendas más sagradas, la ofrenda de cereal, la ofrenda por el pecado y la ofrenda por la culpa, porque el lugar es santo. 14 Cuando los sacerdotes entren allí, no saldrán al atrio exterior sin dejar antes las vestiduras con que ministran, porque esas vestiduras son santas. Antes de acercarse a los lugares destinados para el pueblo deberán vestirse con otra ropa».

15 Cuando él terminó de medir el interior del Templo, me hizo salir por la puerta que da al oriente y midió todo el contorno. 16 Tomó la vara para medir el lado oriental y este medía quinientos codos.[d] 17 Después midió el lado norte y también medía quinientos codos; 18 luego el lado sur: quinientos codos; usando la vara de medir. 19 Luego se volvió hacia el lado oeste y lo midió: quinientos codos; usando la vara de medir. 20 El hombre tomó las medidas de los cuatro lados. La zona estaba rodeada por un muro que medía quinientos codos de largo por quinientos codos de ancho. Este muro separaba lo sagrado de lo profano.

Chambers for the Temple

42 Then he led me out to the outer court, toward the north, and brought me to the chamber that was opposite the courtyard and opposite the building on the north. 2 Its length was 175 feet[a] on the north side,[b] and its width 87½ feet.[c] 3 Opposite the 35 feet[d] that belonged to the inner court, and opposite the pavement that belonged to the outer court, gallery faced gallery in the three stories. 4 In front of the chambers was a walkway on the inner side, 17½ feet[e] wide at a distance of 1¾ feet,[f] and their entrances were on the north. 5 Now the upper chambers were narrower, because the galleries took more space[g] from them than from the lower and middle chambers of the building. 6 For they were in three stories and had no pillars like the pillars of the courts; therefore, the upper chambers[h] were set back from the ground more than the lower and middle ones. 7 As for the outer wall by the side of the chambers, toward the outer court facing the chambers, it was 87½ feet[i] long. 8 For the chambers on the outer court were 87½ feet[j] long, while those facing the temple were 175 feet[k] long. 9 Below these chambers was a passage on the east side as one enters from the outer court.

10 At the beginning[l] of the wall of the court toward the south,[m] facing the courtyard and the building, were chambers 11 like those on the north with a passage in front of them. The chambers that were toward the south were the same length and width as those on the north, and had matching exits and entrances and arrangements. 12 There was an opening at the head of the passage, the passage in front of the corresponding wall toward the east when one enters.

13 Then he said to me, “The north chambers and the south chambers that face the courtyard are holy chambers where the priests[n] who approach the Lord will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings—the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering, because the place is holy. 14 When the priests enter, then they will not go out from the sanctuary to the outer court without taking off their garments in which they minister, for these are holy; they will put on other garments, then they will go near the places where the people are.”

15 Now when he had finished measuring the interior of the temple, he led me out by the gate that faces east and measured all around. 16 He measured the east side with the measuring stick[o] as 875 feet[p] by the measuring stick. 17 He measured the north side as 875 feet by the measuring stick. 18 He measured the south side as 875 feet by the measuring stick. 19 He turned to the west side and measured 875 feet by the measuring stick. 20 He measured it on all four sides. It had a wall around it, 875 feet long and 875 feet wide, to separate the holy and common places.

42 Then he brought me forth into the utter court, the way toward the north: and he brought me into the chamber that was over against the separate place, and which was before the building toward the north.

2 Before the length of an hundred cubits was the north door, and the breadth was fifty cubits.

3 Over against the twenty cubits which were for the inner court, and over against the pavement which was for the utter court, was gallery against gallery in three stories.

4 And before the chambers was a walk to ten cubits breadth inward, a way of one cubit; and their doors toward the north.

5 Now the upper chambers were shorter: for the galleries were higher than these, than the lower, and than the middlemost of the building.

6 For they were in three stories, but had not pillars as the pillars of the courts: therefore the building was straitened more than the lowest and the middlemost from the ground.

7 And the wall that was without over against the chambers, toward the utter court on the forepart of the chambers, the length thereof was fifty cubits.

8 For the length of the chambers that were in the utter court was fifty cubits: and, lo, before the temple were an hundred cubits.

9 And from under these chambers was the entry on the east side, as one goeth into them from the utter court.

10 The chambers were in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, over against the separate place, and over against the building.

11 And the way before them was like the appearance of the chambers which were toward the north, as long as they, and as broad as they: and all their goings out were both according to their fashions, and according to their doors.

12 And according to the doors of the chambers that were toward the south was a door in the head of the way, even the way directly before the wall toward the east, as one entereth into them.

13 Then said he unto me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they be holy chambers, where the priests that approach unto the Lord shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering; for the place is holy.

14 When the priests enter therein, then shall they not go out of the holy place into the utter court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they are holy; and shall put on other garments, and shall approach to those things which are for the people.

15 Now when he had made an end of measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate whose prospect is toward the east, and measured it round about.

16 He measured the east side with the measuring reed, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about.

17 He measured the north side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about.

18 He measured the south side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed.

19 He turned about to the west side, and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.

20 He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five hundred reeds long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place.
