29 A los doce días del mes décimo del año décimo, el Señor me dirigió la palabra: 2 «Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro contra el faraón, rey de Egipto, y profetiza contra él y contra todo Egipto. 3 Adviértele que así dice el Señor y Dios:
»“Yo estoy contra ti, faraón, rey de Egipto,
gran monstruo que yaces en el cauce de tus arroyos,
que dices: ‘El Nilo es mío,
es mi creación’.
4 Te pondré garfios en las mandíbulas,
y haré que los peces del río se te peguen a las escamas.
Y con todos los peces pegados a tus escamas
te sacaré de la corriente.
5 Te abandonaré en el desierto,
junto con todos los peces de tus arroyos.
Caerás en campo abierto
y no serás recogido ni enterrado.[a]
Te daré como alimento
a las bestias de la tierra y a las aves del cielo.
6 Entonces todos los habitantes de Egipto sabrán que yo soy el Señor.
»”Solo has sido un bastón de caña para el pueblo de Israel. 7 Cuando se agarraron de tu mano, te quebraste y desgarraste sus manos;[b] cuando en ti se apoyaron, te rompiste y sus espaldas se estremecieron.[c]
8 »”Por eso, así dice el Señor y Dios: Contra ti traeré la espada y haré que mate a hombres y animales. 9 La tierra de Egipto quedará en ruinas. Entonces sabrán que yo soy el Señor.
»”Tú dijiste: ‘El Nilo es mío, es mi creación’. 10 Por eso me declaro en contra tuya y en contra de tus ríos. Desde Migdol hasta Asuán, y hasta la frontera con Cus, convertiré a la tierra de Egipto en ruina y destrucción total. 11 Durante cuarenta años quedará completamente deshabitada; ni hombres ni animales pasarán por allí. 12 Haré de Egipto la más desolada de todas las tierras y durante cuarenta años sus ciudades quedarán en ruinas y en medio de gran destrucción. Yo dispersaré a los egipcios entre las naciones y los esparciré por los países.
13 »”Así dice el Señor y Dios: Al cabo de los cuarenta años reuniré a los egipcios de entre los pueblos donde fueron dispersados. 14 Haré que vuelvan de su cautividad y los haré volver a Patros, tierra de sus antepasados. Allí formarán un reino humilde. 15 Será el reino de menor importancia y nunca podrá levantarse por encima de las demás naciones. Yo mismo los haré tan pequeños que no podrán dominar a las otras naciones. 16 El pueblo de Israel no confiará más en Egipto. Al contrario, será Egipto quien les sirva para recordar el pecado que cometieron los israelitas al seguirlo. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor y Dios”».
17 El primer día del mes primero del año veintisiete, el Señor me dirigió la palabra: 18 «Toma en cuenta, hijo de hombre, que el rey de Babilonia, Nabucodonosor, y su ejército llevaron a cabo una gran campaña contra Tiro. Todos ellos quedaron con la cabeza rapada y con llagas en la espalda. Pero a pesar del tremendo esfuerzo, ni él ni su ejército sacaron provecho alguno de la campaña emprendida contra Tiro. 19 Por eso, así dice el Señor y Dios: Pondré a Egipto en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, quien se apoderará de sus riquezas, saqueará sus despojos y se llevará el botín que servirá de recompensa para su ejército. 20 Yo le entregaré a Egipto como recompensa por lo que hizo contra Tiro, porque ellos lo hicieron por mí, afirma el Señor y Dios.
21 »En aquel día acrecentaré la fuerza[d] del pueblo de Israel y en ese momento tú, Ezequiel, les hablarás con libertad. Entonces sabrán que yo soy el Señor».

29 El día doce del mes décimo del año décimo, el Señor se dirigió a mí, y me dijo: 2 «Tú, hombre, dirígete ahora al faraón, rey de Egipto, y habla en mi nombre contra él y contra todo Egipto. 3 Dile:
»“Esto dice el Señor:
Yo me declaro tu enemigo,
faraón, rey de Egipto,
monstruo gigantesco que estás echado en tu río
y dices: El Nilo es mío, yo lo hice.
4 Voy a ponerte ganchos en el hocico,
y haré que los peces de tu río
se peguen a tus escamas.
¡De tu río te sacaré
con todos los peces pegados a tus escamas!
5 Te arrojaré al desierto,
junto con todos los peces de tu río;
caerás en campo abierto,
y nadie te recogerá para enterrarte.
Haré que te devoren las fieras salvajes
y las aves del cielo.
6 Todos los habitantes de Egipto reconocerán
que yo soy el Señor.
El pueblo de Israel buscó tu apoyo,
pero fuiste como una caña:
7 cuando te tomaron entre sus manos,
tú te quebraste y les heriste el costado;
cuando quisieron apoyarse en ti,
tú te rompiste y los hiciste caer.
8 »”Por eso yo, el Señor, digo: Egipto, voy a hacer que te ataquen con espadas, y que maten a tus hombres y tus animales. 9 Quedarás convertido en un desierto, y la gente reconocerá que yo soy el Señor. Tú dijiste: El Nilo es mío, yo lo hice. 10 Pues bien, yo me declaro enemigo tuyo y de tu río. Voy a convertirte en un desierto espantoso y desolado, desde Migdol hasta Asuán, hasta la frontera con Etiopía. 11 Ni hombres ni animales pasarán por allí. Durante cuarenta años nadie vivirá allí. 12 Yo te convertiré, Egipto, en el país más desolado; durante cuarenta años tus ciudades quedarán en ruinas, en peor estado que otras ciudades en ruinas, y desterraré a tus habitantes y los dispersaré entre los demás países y naciones.
13 »”Yo, el Señor, digo: Después de los cuarenta años, reuniré a los egipcios de los países adonde los había dispersado. 14 Haré que los prisioneros egipcios vuelvan y se instalen en el sur de Egipto, en su lugar de origen, donde formarán un reino sin importancia. 15 Será el reino menos importante de todos, y no volverá a levantarse por encima de las demás naciones. Lo haré tan pequeño que no podrá dominar a otros países; 16 y el pueblo de Israel no volverá a confiar en Egipto, pues esto les hará ver lo equivocados que estaban cuando fueron allá a buscar ayuda. Entonces reconocerán que yo soy el Señor.”»
17 El día primero del mes primero del año veintisiete, el Señor se dirigió a mí, y me dijo: 18 «Nabucodonosor, el rey de Babilonia, ha lanzado su ejército a una gran campaña contra Tiro; tanto que a todos se les ha pelado la cabeza y se les han llagado los hombros; pero ni él ni su ejército han sacado ningún provecho de esa campaña contra Tiro. 19 Por eso yo, el Señor, digo: Voy a hacer que Nabucodonosor se apodere de Egipto, y que le quite sus riquezas y todo lo que tenga; con lo que le robe tendrá para pagar a su ejército. 20 Voy a hacer que Nabucodonosor se apodere de Egipto en pago de la campaña que lanzó contra Tiro, porque ha trabajado para mí. Yo, el Señor, lo afirmo.
21 »En ese tiempo haré que aumente la fuerza del pueblo de Israel, y que tú, Ezequiel, puedas hablarles abiertamente. Entonces reconocerán que yo soy el Señor.»

29 On the twelfth day of the tenth month of the tenth year, the word of Adonai came to me: 2 “Human being, turn your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt; prophesy against him and against all Egypt; 3 speak out; and say that Adonai Elohim says:
‘I am against you,
Pharaoh king of Egypt,
you big crocodile
lying in the streams of the Nile!
You say, “My Nile is mine;
I made it for myself.”
4 But I will put hooks in your jaws
and make your Nile fish stick to your scales.
Yes, I will bring you up from your Nile,
with all your Nile fish sticking to your scales,
5 and leave you in the desert,
you and all your Nile fish.
You will fall in the open field
and not be gathered or buried;
but I will give you as food
to wild animals and birds.
6 Then all who live in Egypt
will know that I am Adonai,
because they have been a support made of straw
for the house of Isra’el.
7 When they grasped you in hand, you splintered
and threw all their shoulders out of joint;
when they leaned on you, you broke
and made them all wrench their backs.’
8 “Therefore Adonai Elohim says, ‘I will bring the sword against you and eliminate both your people and your animals. 9 The land of Egypt will become a desolate waste, and they will know that I am Adonai; because he said, “The Nile is mine; I made it.” 10 So I am against you and your Nile; and I will make the land of Egypt a totally desolate waste from Migdol to S’venah, all the way to the border of Ethiopia. 11 No human foot will pass through it, and no animal foot will pass through it; it will be uninhabited for forty years. 12 Yes, I will make the land of Egypt desolate, even when compared with other desolate countries, likewise her cities in comparison with other ruined cities; they will be desolate forty years. I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them through the countries.’
13 “For this is what Adonai Elohim says: ‘At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples where they were scattered — 14 I will restore the fortunes of Egypt and cause them to return to the land of their origin, Patros. But there they will be a humble kingdom, 15 the humblest of kingdoms. It will never again dominate other nations; I will reduce them, so that they never again rule other nations. 16 Moreover, they will no longer be a source of confidence for Isra’el to turn to; rather, it will only bring to mind their guilt in having turned to them before. Then they will know that I am Adonai Elohim.’”
17 On the first day of the first month of the twenty-seventh year, the word of Adonai came to me: 18 “Human being, N’vukhadretzar king of Bavel had his army mount a massive expedition against Tzor; [the loads of dirt they carried] made every head bald and every shoulder raw; yet neither he nor his army derived any benefit from Tzor out of this expedition against it. 19 Therefore Adonai Elohim says, ‘I will give the land of Egypt to N’vukhadretzar king of Bavel. He will carry off its riches, take its spoil and its prey; and these will be the wages for his army. 20 I am giving him the land of Egypt as his wages for which he worked, because they were working for me,’ says Adonai Elohim. 21 ‘When that day comes I will cause power to return to the house of Isra’el, and I will enable you [Yechezk’el] to open your mouth among them. Then they will know that I am Adonai.’”

A Prophecy Against Egypt
Judgment on Pharaoh
29 In the tenth year, in the tenth month on the twelfth day, the word of the Lord came to me:(A) 2 “Son of man, set your face against(B) Pharaoh king of Egypt(C) and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.(D) 3 Speak to him and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“‘I am against you, Pharaoh(E) king of Egypt,
you great monster(F) lying among your streams.
You say, “The Nile(G) belongs to me;
I made it for myself.”
4 But I will put hooks(H) in your jaws
and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales.
I will pull you out from among your streams,
with all the fish sticking to your scales.(I)
5 I will leave you in the desert,
you and all the fish of your streams.
You will fall on the open field
and not be gathered(J) or picked up.
I will give you as food
to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the sky.(K)
6 Then all who live in Egypt will know that I am the Lord.
“‘You have been a staff of reed(L) for the people of Israel. 7 When they grasped you with their hands, you splintered(M) and you tore open their shoulders; when they leaned on you, you broke and their backs were wrenched.[a](N)
8 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will bring a sword against you and kill both man and beast.(O) 9 Egypt will become a desolate wasteland. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
“‘Because you said, “The Nile(P) is mine; I made it,(Q)” 10 therefore I am against you(R) and against your streams, and I will make the land of Egypt(S) a ruin and a desolate waste(T) from Migdol(U) to Aswan,(V) as far as the border of Cush.[b](W) 11 The foot of neither man nor beast will pass through it; no one will live there for forty years.(X) 12 I will make the land of Egypt desolate(Y) among devastated lands, and her cities will lie desolate forty years among ruined cities. And I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries.(Z)
13 “‘Yet this is what the Sovereign Lord says: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the nations where they were scattered. 14 I will bring them back from captivity and return them to Upper Egypt,(AA) the land of their ancestry. There they will be a lowly(AB) kingdom.(AC) 15 It will be the lowliest of kingdoms and will never again exalt itself above the other nations.(AD) I will make it so weak that it will never again rule over the nations. 16 Egypt will no longer be a source of confidence(AE) for the people of Israel but will be a reminder(AF) of their sin in turning to her for help.(AG) Then they will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.(AH)’”
Nebuchadnezzar’s Reward
17 In the twenty-seventh year, in the first month on the first day, the word of the Lord came to me:(AI) 18 “Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar(AJ) king of Babylon drove his army in a hard campaign against Tyre; every head was rubbed bare(AK) and every shoulder made raw.(AL) Yet he and his army got no reward from the campaign he led against Tyre. 19 Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am going to give Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king(AM) of Babylon, and he will carry off its wealth. He will loot and plunder(AN) the land as pay for his army.(AO) 20 I have given him Egypt(AP) as a reward for his efforts because he and his army did it for me, declares the Sovereign Lord.(AQ)
21 “On that day I will make a horn[c](AR) grow for the Israelites, and I will open your mouth(AS) among them. Then they will know that I am the Lord.(AT)”
