Se anuncia una deportación como castigo
11 El espíritu me elevó y me condujo a la puerta oriental del Templo del Señor, la que da al este. A la entrada pude ver a veinticinco hombres; entre ellos estaba Jazanías, hijo de Azur, y Pelatías, hijo de Benaías, principales del pueblo. 2 Me dijo el Señor:
— Hijo de hombre, estos son quienes traman el mal y ofrecen consejos perniciosos en esta ciudad. 3 Dicen: “¿No está ya cerca el tiempo de construir casas? La ciudad es la olla y nosotros la carne”. 4 Así, pues, profetiza contra ellos; profetiza, hijo de hombre.
5 Me invadió el espíritu del Señor y me dijo:
— Habla a la gente y diles: Esto dice el Señor: Eso es lo que han hablado, pueblo de Israel; conozco su espíritu altanero. 6 Han multiplicado los cadáveres en esta ciudad, han llenado sus calles de muertos. 7 Por eso, así dice el Señor Dios: Los muertos que han dejado tirados en la ciudad son la carne, y la ciudad es la olla; pero pienso sacarlos de en medio de ella. 8 Ya que temen la espada, voy a traerla contra ustedes —oráculo del Señor Dios—. 9 Los sacaré de en medio de ella y los entregaré a extranjeros; de esta forma los juzgaré. 10 Caerán a espada; los juzgaré en el territorio de Israel, para que ustedes sepan que yo soy el Señor. 11 Ya no les servirá de olla, ni ustedes serán la carne, pues los juzgaré en territorio de Israel. 12 Así reconocerán que yo soy el Señor y que no se han conducido según mis preceptos ni han puesto en práctica mis normas, pues han obrado según las costumbres de los pueblos que los rodean.
13 Mientras estaba profetizando, murió Pelatías, hijo de Benaías. Yo caí rostro en tierra y dije entre gritos:
— ¡Ay, Señor mi Dios! ¿Vas a exterminar al resto de Israel?
Vuelta de los desterrados y promesa de regeneración interior
14 El Señor me dirigió la palabra:
15 — Hijo de hombre, los habitantes de Jerusalén dicen de sus parientes, de sus familiares y de toda la comunidad de Israel: “Esos están lejos del Señor. A nosotros se nos ha dado el país en herencia”. 16 Así pues, diles: Esto dice el Señor Dios: Cuando los llevé a naciones lejanas y los dispersé por otros países, yo fui su santuario, por poco tiempo, en los países adonde llegaron. 17 Por eso, así dice el Señor Dios: Los recogeré de entre los pueblos y los reuniré de entre los países por donde los dispersé; y les daré la tierra de Israel. 18 Cuando vuelvan, retirarán de ella todos sus ídolos y abominaciones. 19 Les daré otro corazón y derramaré en medio de ellos un espíritu nuevo; les arrancaré de su cuerpo el corazón de piedra y les daré un corazón de carne, 20 para que vivan según mis preceptos y respeten mis normas y las cumplan. De esta manera ellos serán mi pueblo y yo seré su Dios. 21 Pero a la gente cuyo corazón esté apegado a sus ídolos y abominaciones, los haré responsables de su conducta —oráculo del Señor Dios—.
La gloria del Señor abandona Jerusalén
22 Los querubines desplegaron sus alas: las ruedas seguían junto a ellos y la gloria del Dios de Israel continuaba encima de ellos. 23 La gloria del Señor se alzó de en medio de la ciudad y se detuvo sobre el monte situado al oriente de la ciudad. 24 El espíritu me arrebató y, en la visión que me proporcionaba el espíritu de Dios, me llevó a territorio caldeo, donde estaban los desterrados. Después desapareció la visión que había tenido. 25 Yo conté a los deportados todo lo que el Señor me había permitido ver.

Juicio contra los líderes de Israel
11 El Espíritu me levantó y me llevó hasta la entrada oriental del Templo del Señor. A la entrada vi a veinticinco hombres, entre los cuales estaban Jazanías, hijo de Azur, y Pelatías, hijo de Benaías, que eran líderes del pueblo. 2 El Señor me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, estos son los que están tramando maldades y dando malos consejos en esta ciudad. 3 Dicen: “Todavía no es el momento de reconstruir las casas. La ciudad es la olla y nosotros somos la carne”. 4 Por eso, hijo de hombre, profetiza contra ellos; ¡sí, profetiza!».
5 El Espíritu del Señor vino sobre mí y me ordenó proclamar: «Así dice el Señor: “Ustedes, pueblo de Israel, han dicho esto y yo conozco sus pensamientos. 6 Han matado a mucha gente en esta ciudad y han llenado las calles de cadáveres.
7 »”Por eso yo, el Señor y Dios, les digo: Los cadáveres que ustedes han arrojado son la carne y la ciudad es la olla, pero yo los sacaré de ahí. 8 ¿Temen a la espada? Pues bien, yo, el Señor y Dios, declaro que con espadas iré contra ustedes. 9 Los sacaré de la ciudad, los entregaré en manos de extranjeros y los juzgaré con justicia. 10 Morirán a filo de espada; yo los juzgaré en las mismas fronteras de Israel y así sabrán que yo soy el Señor. 11 La ciudad no les servirá de olla ni serán ustedes la carne dentro de ella. Yo los juzgaré en la frontera misma de Israel. 12 Entonces sabrán que yo soy el Señor. No han seguido mis estatutos ni han cumplido con mis leyes, sino que han adoptado las costumbres de las naciones que los rodean”».
13 Mientras yo profetizaba, Pelatías, hijo de Benaías, cayó muerto. Entonces caí rostro en tierra y clamé a gritos: «¡Ay, mi Señor y Dios! ¿Vas a exterminar al remanente de Israel?».
14 La palabra del Señor vino a mí y me dijo: 15 «Hijo de hombre, esto es lo que dicen los habitantes de Jerusalén en cuanto a tus hermanos, tus parientes y todo el pueblo de Israel: “Ellos se han alejado del Señor, y por eso se nos ha dado esta tierra en posesión”.
16 »Por tanto, adviérteles que así dice el Señor y Dios: “Aunque los desterré a naciones lejanas y los dispersé por países extraños, por un tiempo les he servido de santuario en las tierras adonde han ido”.
17 »Adviérteles también que así dice el Señor y Dios: “Yo los reuniré de entre las naciones; los juntaré de los países donde han estado dispersos y les daré la tierra de Israel.
18 »”Ellos volverán a su tierra y echarán de allí a los ídolos detestables y pondrán fin a todas las abominaciones. 19 Yo les daré un corazón sincero y pondré en ellos un espíritu renovado. Les arrancaré el corazón de piedra que ahora tienen y pondré en ellos un corazón de carne, 20 para que cumplan mis estatutos y pongan en práctica mis leyes. Entonces ellos serán mi pueblo, y yo seré su Dios. 21 Pero a los que van tras esos ídolos detestables y siguen prácticas abominables, yo les pediré cuentas de su conducta”», afirma el Señor y Dios.
La gloria del Señor abandona Jerusalén
22 Los querubines desplegaron sus alas. Las ruedas estaban junto a ellos y la gloria del Dios de Israel estaba por encima de ellos. 23 La gloria del Señor se elevó de en medio de la ciudad y se detuvo sobre la montaña que está al oriente de Jerusalén. 24 En una visión, el Espíritu me levantó y me trasladó hasta donde estaban los exiliados en Babilonia;[a] y la visión terminó. 25 Entonces comuniqué a los exiliados todo lo que el Señor me había revelado.

God’s Sure Judgment on Jerusalem
11 Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the Lord that faces east. There at the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men, and I saw among them Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah(A) son of Benaiah, leaders(B) of the people.(C) 2 The Lord said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who are plotting evil(D) and giving wicked advice in this city.(E) 3 They say, ‘Haven’t our houses been recently rebuilt? This city is a pot,(F) and we are the meat in it.’(G) 4 Therefore prophesy(H) against them; prophesy, son of man.”
5 Then the Spirit of the Lord came on me, and he told me to say: “This is what the Lord says: That is what you are saying, you leaders in Israel, but I know what is going through your mind.(I) 6 You have killed many people in this city and filled its streets with the dead.(J)
7 “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: The bodies you have thrown there are the meat and this city is the pot,(K) but I will drive you out of it.(L) 8 You fear the sword,(M) and the sword is what I will bring against you, declares the Sovereign Lord.(N) 9 I will drive you out of the city and deliver you into the hands(O) of foreigners and inflict punishment on you.(P) 10 You will fall by the sword, and I will execute judgment on you at the borders of Israel.(Q) Then you will know that I am the Lord. 11 This city will not be a pot(R) for you, nor will you be the meat in it; I will execute judgment on you at the borders of Israel. 12 And you will know that I am the Lord,(S) for you have not followed my decrees(T) or kept my laws but have conformed to the standards of the nations around you.(U)”
13 Now as I was prophesying, Pelatiah(V) son of Benaiah died. Then I fell facedown and cried out in a loud voice, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! Will you completely destroy the remnant of Israel?(W)”
The Promise of Israel’s Return
14 The word of the Lord came to me: 15 “Son of man, the people of Jerusalem have said of your fellow exiles and all the other Israelites, ‘They are far away from the Lord; this land was given to us as our possession.’(X)
16 “Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Although I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary(Y) for them in the countries where they have gone.’
17 “Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.’(Z)
18 “They will return to it and remove all its vile images(AA) and detestable idols.(AB) 19 I will give them an undivided heart(AC) and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone(AD) and give them a heart of flesh.(AE) 20 Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.(AF) They will be my people,(AG) and I will be their God.(AH) 21 But as for those whose hearts are devoted to their vile images and detestable idols,(AI) I will bring down on their own heads what they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.(AJ)”
22 Then the cherubim, with the wheels beside them, spread their wings, and the glory(AK) of the God of Israel was above them.(AL) 23 The glory(AM) of the Lord went up from within the city and stopped above the mountain(AN) east of it. 24 The Spirit(AO) lifted me up and brought me to the exiles in Babylonia[a] in the vision(AP) given by the Spirit of God.
Then the vision I had seen went up from me, 25 and I told the exiles everything the Lord had shown me.(AQ)

The Lord’s Judgment of Jerusalem Is Certain
11 Then the Spirit of the Lord lifted me up. He brought me to the east gate of the Lord’s house. There were 25 men at the entrance of the gate. I saw Jaazaniah and Pelatiah among them. They were leaders of the people. Jaazaniah is the son of Azzur. Pelatiah is the son of Benaiah. 2 The Lord said to me, “Son of man, these men are making evil plans. They are giving bad advice to the city. 3 They say, ‘Haven’t our houses just been built again? The city is like a pot used for cooking. And we are the meat in it.’ 4 So prophesy against them. Prophesy, son of man.”
5 Then the Spirit of the Lord came on me. He told me to tell them, “The Lord says, ‘You leaders in Israel, that is what you are saying. But I know what you are thinking. 6 You have killed many people in this city. In fact, you have filled its streets with dead bodies.’
7 “So the Lord and King says, ‘The bodies you have thrown there are the meat. And the city is the cooking pot. But I will drive you out of it. 8 You are afraid of the swords of war. But I will bring them against you,’ announces the Lord and King. 9 ‘I will drive you out of the city. I will hand you over to outsiders. And I will punish you. 10 You will be killed by swords. I will judge you at the borders of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord. 11 This city will not be a pot for you. And you will not be the meat in it. I will judge you at the borders of Israel. 12 Then you will know that I am the Lord. You have not obeyed my rules. You have not kept my laws. Instead, you have lived by the standards of the nations around you.’ ”
13 Pelatiah, the son of Benaiah, died as I was prophesying. Then I fell with my face toward the ground. I cried out in a loud voice. I said, “Lord and King, will you destroy all the Israelites who are still left alive?”
The Lord Will Bring His People Back Home
14 A message from the Lord came to me. The Lord said, 15 “Son of man, the people of Jerusalem have spoken about you. They have spoken about the others the Babylonians have taken away. They have also spoken about all the other people of Israel. The people of Jerusalem have said, ‘Those people are far away from the Lord. This land was given to us. And it belongs to us.’
16 “So tell them, ‘The Lord and King says, “I sent some of my people far away among the nations. I scattered them among the countries. But for a little while I have been their temple in the countries where they have gone.” ’
17 “Tell them, ‘The Lord and King says, “I will gather you from the nations. I will bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered. I will give you back the land of Israel.” ’
18 “They will return to it. They will remove all its statues of evil gods. I hate those gods. 19 I will give my people hearts that are completely committed to me. I will give them a new spirit that is faithful to me. I will remove their stubborn hearts from them. And I will give them hearts that obey me. 20 Then they will follow my rules. They will be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people. And I will be their God. 21 But some people have hearts that are committed to worshiping the statues of their evil gods. I hate those gods. Anything that happens to those people will be their own fault,” announces the Lord and King.
22 Then the cherubim spread their wings. The wheels were beside them. The glory of the God of Israel was above them. 23 The glory of the Lord went up from the city. It stopped above the Mount of Olives east of the city. 24 The Spirit of God lifted me up. He took me to those who had been brought to Babylon as prisoners. These are the things that happened in the visions the Spirit gave me.
Then the visions I had seen were gone. 25 I told my people everything the Lord had shown me.
