⁸ But they rebelled against Me and would not ^[a]obey Me. They did not all cast away the abominations which were before their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said, ‘I will ^(A)pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.’

¹³ Yet the house of Israel ^(A)rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they did not walk in My statutes; they ^(B)despised My judgments, ^(C)‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; and they greatly ^(D)defiled My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them in the ^(E)wilderness, to consume them.

²¹ “Notwithstanding, ^(A)the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, and were not careful to observe My judgments, ^(B)‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; but they profaned My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the wilderness.

²² As silver is melted in the midst of a furnace, so shall you be melted in its midst; then you shall know that I, the Lord, have ^(A)poured out My fury on you.’ ”

³¹ Therefore I have ^(A)poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed ^(B)their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord God.

¹⁸ Therefore I poured out My fury on them ^(A)for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it.
