The Siege of Jerusalem

“Now as for you, son of man, take a (A)sharp sword; take and [a]use it as a barber’s razor on your head and beard. Then take (B)scales for weighing and divide [b]the hair. One-third you shall burn in the fire at the center of the city when the (C)days of the siege are fulfilled. Then you shall take one-third and strike it with the sword all around [c]the city, and one-third you shall scatter to the wind; and I will (D)unsheathe a sword behind them. You shall also take a few in number from [d]them and bind them in the edges of your robes. Take again some of them and throw them into the fire and burn them in the fire; from it a fire will [e]spread to all the house of Israel.

(E)A third part you shall burn in the fire (F)in the midst of the city, (G)when the days of the siege are completed. And a third part you shall take and strike with the sword all around the city. (H)And a third part you shall scatter to the wind, and (I)I will unsheathe the sword after them. (J)And you shall take from these a small number and bind them in the skirts of your robe. (K)And of these again you shall take some and cast them into the midst of the fire and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will come out into all the house of Israel.
