“Then lie on your left side, and place the punishment[a] of the house of Israel upon it. For the number of the days that you lie on it, (A)you shall bear their punishment. For I assign to you a number of days, (B)390 days, (C)equal to the number of the years of their punishment. (D)So long shall you bear (E)the punishment of the house of Israel. And when you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side, and (F)bear (G)the punishment of the house of Judah. (H)Forty days I assign you, a day for each year. (I)And you shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, (J)with your arm bared, and you shall prophesy against the city. And behold, (K)I will place cords upon you, so that you cannot turn from one side to the other, till you have completed (L)the days of your siege.

I am requiring you to bear Israel’s sins for 390 days—one day for each year of their sin. After that, turn over and lie on your right side for 40 days—one day for each year of Judah’s sin.

“Meanwhile, keep staring at the siege of Jerusalem. Lie there with your arm bared and prophesy her destruction. I will tie you up with ropes so you won’t be able to turn from side to side until the days of your siege have been completed.
