Rules for Levitical Priests

¹⁵ “But ^(A)the Levitical priests, ^(B)the sons of Zadok, who kept ^(C)the charge of my sanctuary ^(D)when the people of Israel went astray from me, shall come near to me ^(E)to minister to me. And they shall stand before me to offer me ^(F)the fat and the blood, declares the Lord God.

¹¹ This shall be for ^(A)the consecrated priests, ^(B)the sons of Zadok, who kept my charge, who did not go astray when the people of Israel went astray, ^(C)as the Levites did.

⁷ in ^(A)admitting foreigners, ^(B)uncircumcised in heart and flesh, to be in my sanctuary, ^(C)profaning my temple, when you offer to me my food, the fat and the blood. You^[a] have broken my covenant, in addition to all your abominations.

¹⁹ you shall give to ^(A)the Levitical priests ^(B)of the family of Zadok, who draw near to me to minister to me, declares the Lord God, ^(C)a bull from the herd for a sin offering.

⁴⁶ and the chamber that faces north is for the priests ^(A)who have charge of the altar. These are ^(B)the sons of Zadok, who alone^[a] among the sons of Levi may come ^(C)near to the Lord to minister to him.”

A Vision of Joshua the High Priest

3 Then he showed me ^(A)Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and ^(B)Satan^[a] standing at his right hand to accuse him. ² And the Lord said to Satan, ^(C)“The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! The Lord who has ^(D)chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this ^(E)a brand^[b] plucked from the fire?” ³ Now ^(F)Joshua was standing before the angel, ^(G)clothed with filthy garments. ⁴ And the angel said to ^(H)those who were standing before him, ^(I)“Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, ^(J)I have taken your iniquity away from you, and ^(K)I will clothe you with pure vestments.” ⁵ And I said, ^(L)“Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord was standing by.

⁶ And the angel of the Lord solemnly assured ^(M)Joshua, ⁷ “Thus says the Lord of hosts: If you will walk in my ways and ^(N)keep my charge, then you shall ^(O)rule my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you the right of access among ^(P)those who are standing here.

⁸ At that time ^(A)the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi ^(B)to carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord ^(C)to stand before the Lord to minister to him and ^(D)to bless in his name, to this day.

⁵ This is to the end that the people of Israel may bring their sacrifices that they sacrifice ^(A)in the open field, that they may bring them to the Lord, to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and sacrifice them ^(B)as sacrifices of peace offerings to the Lord. ⁶ And the priest shall ^(C)throw the blood on the altar of the Lord at the entrance of the tent of meeting and burn the fat ^(D)for a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

¹⁶ And the priest shall burn them on the altar as a ^(A)food offering with a pleasing aroma. ^(B)All fat is the Lord's. ¹⁷ It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, in all your dwelling places, that you eat neither ^(C)fat nor ^(D)blood.”
