Chambers for the Singers and Priests

44 Outside the inner gate were the chambers for the singers in the inner court, one at the side of the north gate facing south, the other at the side of the east gate facing north. 45 He said to me, “This chamber that faces south is for the priests who have charge of the temple. 46 The chamber that faces north is for the priests who have charge of the altar. These are the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi, who come near to the Lord to minister to Him.”

47 So he measured the court, a hundred cubits long, and a hundred cubits wide, foursquare. And the altar was before the temple.

44 And on the outside of the inner gate, there were chambers for[a] singers in the inner courtyard, which was to the side of the north gate, and their faces[b] were to the south[c] with respect to one, and on the side of the east gate one facing to the north. 45 And he said to me, “This chamber with its face toward the south[d] is for the priests who are taking care of the responsibility of the temple. 46 And the chamber with its face to the north[e] is for the priests who are taking care of the responsibility of the altar. They are the descendants[f] of Zadok, the ones who approach from among the descendants[g] of Levi to Yahweh to serve him.”

47 And he measured the courtyard as to its length, a hundred cubits,[h] and a hundred cubits[i] wide, squared, and the altar is in front of[j] the temple.
