Ang sukat ng pintuang-daan sa silanganan.
40 Nang ikadalawang pu't limang taon ng aming pagkabihag, nang pasimula ng taon, nang ikasangpung araw ng buwan, (A)nang ikalabing apat na taon pagkatapos na (B)ang bayan ay masaktan nang kaarawang yaon, (C)ang kamay ng Panginoon ay sumaakin, at dinala niya ako roon.
2 Sa mga pangitain na mula sa Dios ay dinala niya (D)ako sa lupain ng Israel, at inilagay ako sa totoong mataas na bundok, (E)na kinaroroonan ng parang isang bayan sa timugan.
3 At dinala niya ako roon; at, narito, may isang lalake na ang anyo ay (F)parang anyo ng tanso, (G)na may pising lino sa kaniyang kamay, (H)at isang panukat na tambo; at siya'y natayo sa pintuang-bayan.
4 At sinabi ng lalake sa akin, Anak ng tao, tumingin ka ng iyong mga mata, at makinig ka ng iyong mga pakinig, at ilagak mo ang iyong puso sa lahat na aking ipakikita sa iyo; sapagka't sa haka na aking mga maipakikita sa iyo ay dinala ka rito: ipahayag mo ang lahat na iyong nakikita sa sangbahayan ni Israel.
5 At, narito; (I)isang kuta sa dakong labas ng bahay sa palibot, at sa kamay ng lalake ay isang panukat na tambo na may anim na siko ang haba, na tigisang siko at isang dangkal ang luwang ng bawa't isa: sa gayo'y kaniyang sinukat (J)ang luwang ng bahay, na isang tambo; at ang taas, isang tambo.
6 Nang magkagayo'y naparoon siya sa pintuang-daan, (K)na nakaharap sa dakong silanganan, at sumampa sa mga baytang niyaon: at kaniyang sinukat ang pasukan sa pintuang-daan, isang tambo ang luwang; at ang kabilang pasukan, isang tambo ang luwang.
7 At bawa't (L)silid ng bahay ay isang tambo ang haba, at isang tambo ang luwang; at ang pagitan ng mga silid ng bantay ay limang siko; at ang pasukan sa pintuang-daan sa tabi ng portiko sa pintuang-daan sa dako ng bahay ay isang tambo.
8 Kaniya rin namang sinukat ang portiko sa pintuang-daan sa dakong bahay, isang tambo.
9 Nang magkagayo'y sinukat niya ang portiko sa pintuang-daan, walong siko; at ang mga haligi niyaon, dalawang siko; at ang portiko sa pintuang-daan ay nasa dako ng bahay.
10 At ang mga silid ng bantay ng pintuang-daan sa dakong silanganan ay tatlo sa dakong ito, at tatlo sa dakong yaon; ang tatlo ay iisang sukat: at ang mga haligi ng pintuan ay iisang sukat sa dakong ito, at sa dakong yaon.
11 At kaniyang sinukat ang luwang ng pasukan ng pintuang-daan, sangpung siko; at ang haba ng pintuang-daan, labing tatlong siko;
12 At ang pagitan sa harap ng mga silid ng bantay, isang siko sa dakong ito, at ang isang pagitan, isang siko sa dakong yaon; at ang mga silid ng bantay, anim na siko sa dakong ito, at anim na siko sa dakong yaon;
13 At kaniyang sinukat ang pintuang-daan mula sa bubungan ng isang silid ng bantayan hanggang sa bubungan ng kabila, may luwang na dalawang pu't limang siko; pintuan sa tapat ng pintuan.
14 Gumawa naman siya ng mga haligi ng pintuan, na anim na pung siko; at ang looban ay hanggang sa haligi, ang pintuang-daan ay sa palibot.
15 At mula sa harap ng pintuang-daan sa pasukan hanggang sa harap ng pinakaloob na portiko sa pintuang-daan ay limang pung siko.
16 At may makikipot na (M)dungawan sa mga silid ng bantay, at sa mga haligi ng mga yaon sa loob ng pintuang-daan sa palibot, at gayon din sa mga hubog; at ang mga dungawan ay nangasa palibot (N)sa dakong loob; at sa bawa't haligi ay may mga (O)puno ng palma.

17 Nang magkagayo'y dinala niya ako (P)sa loob ng looban sa labas; at, narito, may mga (Q)silid at may isang lapag na ginawa sa palibot ng looban: tatlong pung silid ang nasa lapag.
18 At ang lapag ay nasa tabi ng mga pintuang-daan, ayon sa haba ng mga pintuang-daan, sa makatuwid baga'y ang lalong mababang lapag.
19 Nang magkagayo'y kaniyang sinukat ang luwang mula sa harap ng lalong mababang pintuang-daan hanggang sa harap ng pinakaloob na looban sa may labas, na isang daang siko, sa dakong silanganan at gayon din sa dakong hilagaan.
20 At ang pintuang-daan ng looban sa labas na nakaharap sa dakong hilagaan, kaniyang sinukat ang haba niyaon at ang luwang niyaon.
21 At ang mga silid ng bantay niyaon ay tatlo sa dakong ito at tatlo sa dakong yaon; at ang mga haligi niyaon at ang mga hubog niyaon ay ayon sa sukat ng unang pintuang-daan: ang haba niyaon ay limang pung siko, at ang luwang ay dalawang pu't limang siko.
22 At ang mga dungawan niyaon, at ang mga hubog niyaon, at ang mga puno ng palma niyaon ay ayon sa sukat ng pintuang-daan na nakaharap sa dakong silanganan; at kanilang sinampa ng pitong baytang; at ang mga hubog niyaon ay nangasa harap nila.
23 At may pintuang-daan sa lalong loob na looban sa tapat ng kabilang pintuang-daan, sa dakong hilagaan at gayon din sa dakong silanganan; (R)at kaniyang sinukat mula sa pintuang-daan hanggang sa pintuang-daan na isang daang siko.
24 At dinala niya ako sa dakong timugan; at, narito, ang isang pintuang-daan sa dakong timugan: at kaniyang sinukat ang mga haligi niyaon, at ang mga hubog niyaon ayon sa mga sukat na ito.
25 At may mga dungawan doon at sa mga hubog niyaon sa palibot, gaya ng mga dungawang yaon: ang haba ay limang pung siko, at ang luwang ay dalawang pu't limang siko.
26 At may pitong baytang na sampahan, at ang mga hubog niyaon ay nangasa harap ng mga yaon; at may mga puno ng palma; sa dakong ito, at isa sa dakong yaon, sa mga haligi niyaon.
27 At may pintuang-daan sa lalong loob na looban sa dakong timugan: at kaniyang sinukat mula sa pintuang-daan hanggang sa pintuang-daan sa dakong timugan na isang daang siko.

28 Nang magkagayo'y dinala niya ako sa lalong loob na (S)looban sa tabi ng pintuang-daan sa timugan: at kaniyang sinukat ang pintuang-daang timugan ayon sa mga sukat ding ito;
29 At ang mga silid ng bantay niyaon, at ang mga hubog niyaon, ay ayon sa mga sukat na ito: at may mga dungawan yaon, at gayon din sa mga hubog niyaon sa palibot; may limang pung siko ang haba, at dalawang pu't limang siko ang luwang.
30 At may mga hubog sa palibot, na dalawang pu't limang siko ang haba, at limang siko ang luwang.
31 At ang mga hubog niyaon ay nangasa dako ng looban sa labas; at mga puno ng palma ang nangasa mga haligi niyaon: at ang sampahan ay may walong baytang.
32 At dinala niya ako sa lalong loob na looban sa dakong silanganan; at sinukat niya ang pintuang-daan ayon sa mga sukat na ito.
33 At ang mga silid ng bantay niyaon, at ang mga haligi niyaon, at ang mga hubog niyaon, ayon sa mga sukat na ito: at may mga dungawan sa loob at sa mga hubog niyaon sa palibot: may limang pung siko ang haba, at dalawang pu't limang siko ang luwang.
34 At ang mga hubog niyaon ay nangasa dako ng looban sa labas; at mga puno ng palma ang nangasa mga haligi niyaon, sa dakong ito, at sa dakong yaon: at ang sampahan ay may walong baytang.
35 At dinala niya ako sa pintuang-daang hilagaan: at sinukat niya ayon sa mga sukat na ito;
36 Ang mga silid ng bantay niyaon, ang mga haligi niyaon, at ang mga hubog niyaon: at may mga dungawan sa loob sa palibot; ang haba ay limang pung siko, at ang luwang ay dalawang pu't limang siko.
37 At ang mga haligi niyaon ay nangasa dako ng looban sa labas; at mga puno ng palma ang nangasa haligi niyaon, sa dakong ito, at sa dakong yaon: at ang sampahan ay may walong baytang.

38 At isang silid na may pintuan ay nasa tabi ng mga haligi sa mga pintuang-daan; (T)doon sila naghugas (U)ng handog na susunugin.
39 At sa portiko ng pintuang-daan ay may dalawang dulang sa dakong ito, at dalawang dulang sa dakong yaon, upang patayin doon (V)ang handog na susunugin, at ang (W)handog dahil sa kasalanan at ang (X)handog dahil sa pagkakasala.
40 At sa isang dako sa labas na gaya ng kung sasampa sa pasukan ng pintuang-daan sa dakong hilagaan ay may dalawang dulang; at sa kabilang dako, na ukol sa portiko ng pintuang-daan, ay may dalawang dulang.
41 Apat na dulang sa dakong ito, at apat na dulang sa dakong yaon sa tabi ng pintuang-daan; walong dulang ang kanilang pinagpatayan ng mga hain.
42 At may apat na dulang na ukol sa handog na susunugin, na batong tinabas, na isang siko at kalahati ang haba, at isang siko at kalahati ang luwang, at isang siko ang taas; na kanilang pinaglapagan ng mga kasangkapan na kanilang ipinagpatay sa handog na susunugin at sa hain.
43 At ang mga pangipit na may isang lapad ng kamay ang haba, ay natitibayan sa loob sa palibot; at nasa ibabaw ng mga dulang ang laman na alay.

44 At sa labas ng lalong loob na pintuang-daan (Y)ay may mga silid na ukol sa mga mangaawit sa lalong loob na looban, na nasa tabi ng pintuang-daang hilagaan; at mga nakaharap sa timugan; isa sa dako ng silanganang daan na nahaharap sa dakong hilagaan.
45 At kaniyang sinabi sa akin, Ang silid na ito na nakaharap sa dakong timugan, ay sa mga saserdote, (Z)sa mga namamahala sa bahay;
46 At ang silid na nakaharap sa dakong hilagaan ay sa mga saserdote, (AA)na mga namamahala sa dambana: (AB)ang mga ito ay (AC)mga anak ni Sadoc, (AD)na sa mga anak ni Levi ay nagsilapit sa Panginoon upang magsipangasiwa sa kaniya.
47 At sinukat niya ang looban na isang daang siko ang haba, at isang daang siko ang luwang, parisukat; at ang dambana ay nasa harap ng bahay.

48 Nang magkagayo'y dinala niya ako sa portiko ng bahay, at sinukat niya ang bawa't haligi ng portiko na limang siko sa dakong ito, at limang siko sa dakong yaon: at ang luwang ng pintuang-daan ay tatlong siko sa dakong ito, at tatlong siko sa dakong yaon.
49 Ang haba ng portiko ay (AE)dalawang pung siko, at ang luwang ay labing isang siko: kahit sa pamamagitan ng mga baytang na kanilang sinampahan: at may (AF)mga haligi, isa sa dakong ito, at isa sa dakong yaon.

47 Egli misurò il cortile; era quadrato e misurava cento cubiti di lunghezza e cento cubiti di larghezza; l'altare stava davanti alla casa.
48 Poi mi condusse nel vestibolo della casa e misurò i pilastri del vestibolo: cinque cubiti di qua e cinque di là; la larghezza della porta era di tre cubiti di qua e tre di là. 49 La lunghezza del vestibolo era di venti cubiti; la larghezza era di undici cubiti; vi si saliva per dei gradini; presso i pilastri c'erano delle colonne, una di qua e una di là.

Chapter 40
The Man with a Measure. 1 In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month, fourteen years after the city had been captured, on that very day the hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me back there.(A) 2 In a divine vision he brought me to the land of Israel, where he set me down on a very high mountain. In front of me, there was something like a city built on it.(B) 3 He brought me there, and there standing in the gateway was a man whose appearance was like bronze! He held in his hand a linen cord and a measuring rod.(C) 4 The man said to me, “Son of man, look carefully and listen intently. Pay strict attention to everything I show you, for you have been brought here so that I might show it to you. Then you must tell the house of Israel everything you see.” 5 There an outer wall completely surrounded the temple. The measuring rod in the man’s hand was six cubits long, each cubit being a cubit plus a handbreadth;[b] he measured the width of the structure, one rod, and its height, one rod.
The East Gate.[c] 6 Going to the gate facing east, he climbed its steps and measured the threshold of the outer gateway as one rod wide.(D) 7 Each cell was one rod long and one rod wide, and there were five cubits between the cells; the threshold of the inner gateway adjoining the vestibule of the gate facing the temple was one rod wide. 8 He also measured the vestibule of the inner gate, 9 eight cubits, and its posts, two cubits each. The vestibule faced the inside. 10 On each side of the east gatehouse were three cells, all the same size; their posts were all the same size. 11 He measured the width of the gate’s entryway, ten cubits, and the length of the gate itself, thirteen cubits. 12 The borders in front of the cells on both sides were one cubit, while the cells themselves measured six cubits by six cubits from one opening to the next. 13 Next he measured the gatehouse from the back wall of one cell to the back wall of the cell on the opposite side through the openings facing each other, a width of twenty-five cubits. 14 All around the courtyard of the gatehouse were posts six cubits high. 15 From the front of the gatehouse at its outer entry to the gateway of the porch facing inward, the length was fifty cubits. 16 There were recessed windows in the cells on all sides and in the posts on the inner side of the gate. Posts and windows were all around the inside, with palm trees decorating the posts.(E)
The Outer Court. 17 Then he brought me to the outer court,[d] where there were chambers and pavement laid all around the courtyard: thirty chambers facing the pavement.(F) 18 The pavement lay alongside the gatehouses, the same length as the gates; this was the lower pavement. 19 He measured the length of the pavement from the front of the lower gate to the outside of the inner gate, one hundred cubits. He then moved from the east to the north side.
The North Gate. 20 He measured the length and width of the north gate of the outer courtyard. 21 Its cells, three on each side, its posts, and its vestibule had the same measurements as those of the first gate, fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide. 22 Its windows, its vestibule, and its palm decorations had the same proportions as those of the gate facing east. Seven steps led up to it, and its vestibule faced the inside. 23 The inner court had a gate opposite the north gate, just as at the east gate; he measured one hundred cubits from one gate to the other.
The South Gate. 24 Then he led me to the south. There, too, facing south, was a gate! He measured its posts and vestibule; they were the same size as the others. 25 The gate and its vestibule had windows on both sides, like the other windows, fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide. 26 Seven steps led up to it, its vestibule faced inside; and palms decorated each of the posts opposite one another. 27 The inner court also had a gate facing south. He measured it from gate to gate, facing south, one hundred cubits.
Gates of the Inner Court.[e] 28 Then he brought me to the inner courtyard by the south gate, where he measured the south gateway; its measurements were the same as the others. 29 Its cells, posts, and vestibule were the same size as the others, fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide. 30 [f]The vestibules all around were twenty-five cubits long and five cubits wide. 31 Its vestibule faced the outer court; palms decorated its posts, and its stairway had eight steps. 32 Then he brought me to the inner courtyard on the east and measured the gate there; its dimensions were the same as the others. 33 Its cells, posts, and vestibule were the same size as the others. The gate and its vestibule had windows on both sides, fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide. 34 Its vestibule faced the outer court, palms decorated the posts opposite each other, and it had a stairway of eight steps. 35 Then he brought me to the north gate,(G) where he measured the dimensions 36 of its cells, posts, and vestibule; they were the same. The gate and its vestibule had windows on both sides, fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide. 37 Its vestibule faced the outer court; palm trees decorated its posts opposite each other, and it had a stairway of eight steps.
Side Rooms. 38 There was a chamber opening off the vestibule of the gate where burnt offerings were washed.(H) 39 In the vestibule of the gate there were two tables on either side for slaughtering the burnt offerings, purification offerings, and reparation offerings.(I) 40 Two more tables stood along the wall of the vestibule by the entrance of the north gate, and two tables on the other side of the vestibule of the gate. 41 There were thus four tables on one side of the gate and four tables on the other side, eight tables in all, for slaughtering. 42 The four tables for burnt offerings were made of cut stone, one and a half cubits long, one and a half cubits wide, and one cubit high; the instruments used for slaughtering burnt offerings and other sacrifices were kept 43 on shelves the width of one hand, fixed all around the room; but on the tables themselves was the meat for the sacrifices. 44 Outside the inner gatehouse there were two rooms on the inner courtyard, one beside the north gate, facing south, and the other beside the south gate, facing north. 45 He said to me, “This chamber facing south is reserved for the priests who have charge of the temple area, 46 while this chamber facing north is reserved for the priests who have charge of the altar; they are the sons of Zadok,[g] the only Levites who may come near to minister to the Lord.” 47 He measured the courtyard, a square one hundred cubits long and a hundred cubits wide, with the altar standing in front of the temple.(J)
The Temple Building.[h] 48 (K)Then he brought me into the vestibule of the temple and measured the posts, five cubits on each side. The gateway was fourteen cubits wide, its side walls three cubits. 49 The vestibule was twenty cubits long and twelve cubits wide; ten steps led up to it, and there were columns by the posts, one on each side.

- 40:1–48:35 This lengthy vision of a new Temple and a restored Israel is dated in v. 1 to April 28, 573 B.C. The literary form of the vision is sometimes compared to a mandala, a sacred model through which one can move symbolically to reach the world of the divine. Ezekiel describes the Temple through its boundaries, entrances, and exits in chaps. 40–43; by its sacred and profane use and space in 44–46; and by its central place within the land itself in 47–48. The prophet could not have expected a literal fulfillment of much of what he described. The passage doubtless went through several editorial stages, both from the prophet and from later writers.
- 40:5 A cubit plus a handbreadth: a great cubit. The ordinary cubit consisted of six handbreadths; the great cubit, of seven. In measuring the Temple, a rod six great cubits long was used. The ordinary cubit was about one and a half feet, or, more exactly, 17.5 inches; the large cubit, 20.4 inches.
- 40:6–16 The gate facing east, leading into the outer court of the Temple, is described more fully than the north and south gates, which, however, have the same dimensions. On the west side of the outer court there is a large building instead of a gate (cf. 41:12).
- 40:17 The outer court: the court outside the Temple area proper, which had its own inner court (vv. 28–37).
- 40:28–37 The gates leading into the inner court of the Temple area correspond to the gates leading into the outer court, with the exception that their vestibules are on the outer rather than the inner side.
- 40:30 The reference to vestibules all around is uncertain, and the verse may have arisen as a partial repetition of v. 29.
- 40:46 Sons of Zadok: descendants of the priestly line of Zadok; cf. 2 Sm 15:24–29; 1 Kgs 1:32–34; 2:35.
- 40:48–41:15 The description of Ezekiel’s visionary Temple closely follows the description of the Temple of Solomon (1 Kgs 6), along with some crucial differences.
